    Hi Dari TV, I was also thinking about studying in Korea through GKS, but I also find the process confusing and the information inaccessible. I wanted to study a PhD program but there's nothing on the website to show if there are any PhD programs taught in English. When I sent an email to the international dept, they told me to simply reach out to depts I am interested in directly, but when I sent the inquiry, none of these depts replied. And yes, I am talking about Ewha. Any suggestions you may have navigating this process, or would you happen to be aware if Ewha has PhD programs taught in English? Bec PhD is a high level, I just don't think it would be doable or practical for me to spend many years learning Korean to reach that academic level, so I am curious if there are English-taught PhD programs.

    I would like to inquire if it is recommended in the case of Ewha to reach out to the fuculty of the GSIS program I am interested in to discuss/ask if they would be interested in taking me in as a PhD student? I had previous experience with GKS applying for a PhD program and it turned out that sometimes the Department might not be interested in taking in an outsider PhD student through the GKS.
    Would you be able to give any piece of advice in turms of how better approach this not to misstep?

    • @DARITVKOREA
      @DARITVKOREA  2 года назад +1

      I'm so glad you found the video helpful! From my personal experience, there's no need to gauge whether a professor is willing to advise perspective Ph.D. students (particularly for the social sciences). In other words, I don't encourage students to seek letters of advisory in advance. If you would like to send an e-mail to introduce yourself (with no other intentions), that's just fine -- although not every professor may end up replying. ^^ Rather, I would focus on making sure you have a solid research plan and that the reason for wanting to apply to this particular university/program is very clear from the application materials. Wishing you all the best!

However, it seems as if the process is different, we have to present the Study Plan in form of a PowerPoint and the Statement of Purpose in video form. Hi! I'm sure that there may be conversion challenges with other GKS students from India. I would first get in touch with the GKS office about conversion to the 100 scale. If you have 3.5/4.0, I hope there would be a way to convert that more favorably to a 100 scale taking into consideration the local situation. Also, you might want to check with your university about other GKS students and grade conversion. Unfortunately I'm not an expert on grade conversion, so you'll have to seek out the official stance. Best wishes! ^^

      Hello! Most departments I know of say this directly on the website, but the next best way to check is to send an e-mail to the program's administrative office (contact information is normally found on the respective department websites). You could also reach out to students who are currently enrolled in the department via Instagram/other social media. They might be able to give you a more inside view. Best wishes! ^^

    Hello, Professor
    I have a question, I'll be really grateful to You for your help with that.
    I've been truly interested in the International studies for a long time. And I'm sure to make it to Ewha through GKS in future.
    I've gone through the requirements of Ewha GSIS, 2022 GKS-G. There, to get enrolled in GSIS, proof of English Proficiency is required; And I can not afford going out of my hometown to take IELTS, But I'm pursuing my bachelor's majoring in English one of my interest (languages) and my minor is Economics. To build up my experience and a good insight I'm working as a Literary Translator as well for a retired professor (vice principal) and he's now a director of a company.
    And I'm a bright student since childhood. Not going too far, in my 9th grade I achieved 91%, 10th-85%, 11th-91%, 12th-92%, and in the 1st semester of BA my SGPA is 9.67/10 (96.7%) and In future I'll do better, InShaaAllah. And my University affiliated College is English Medium. And I've a doubt that "Do I still Need English Proficiency Proof?" ,I know that it's required but can I get a chance.
    My apologies for the long listed comment.

    • @DARITVKOREA
      @DARITVKOREA  2 года назад

      Hello! Thank you for the question and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. You might want to reach out to the GSIS office directly and let them know of your situation. They should be able to help you better than I ever could about the administrative side. Best wishes! ^^
