    Nice little side by side. Numbers time.. .50 cal has surface area of 0.7853in2. .686 has a surface area of 1.4698. Almost double. In terms of less lethal, you can use more power with a .68 and spread that energy out over more surface area with less risk of lethality, with a larger area of impact. The inverse, a 50 with less power, is more likely to penetrate. A 22LR has more energy than both and will certainly penetrate, however it offers limited stopping power. A baseball bat doesn't penetrate but offers stopping power. I feel like a 50 cal buried at center mass is more trouble for a less lethal user simply seeking stopping power deterrence, than that of blunt impact higher power 68. Not saying a .50 ball bearing in the chest wouldn't deter someone. Simply that it could cause the holder of the 50 more problems. As you stated Sean, these two have different purposes. The user should be aware when choosing shot placement, which caliber they are holding. Cracked skull vs leaking skull. Bruised ribs vs sucking chest wound. Just something to keep in the back of one's mind. Know what you're working with and know your objective.. Joules and calibers. Tests like this are always a nice way to visualize the real-world effect chronos, ball gauges and scales don't tell us. So... shoot more pans, maybe a pan with jeans on. Perhaps a pan behind your trap cloth. I'm entertained any which way!

      Such a good comment! very true, id take a mag dump from a .68 giving 300+ fps over getting hit by even one .177 moving 700+ fps although both wouldn't be safe 😂 .. Now if it was a face shot, idk.. Maybe the. .177 id take my chances with 🤔 more likely to skip off the skull where the .68 could possibly crush skull..

      I do agree the small caliber may be perceived as less blunt force trauma. Its really hard to say for sure since the pans dont talk back and i have yet to see anyone take a steel ball as a test. The pans were fun and ill continue with more tests.

      Of the many C02 and HPA defense option videos I've seen, this comment, from a perspective of 1000's I have read, really cuts through the hype, jargon, and rhetoric of these platforms. Anyone who doesn't think any one of these, even at factory specs, can't be lethal, shouldn't be using one! I use them because they reload faster than my sling, but for pure blunt force stopping power, I'll take my sling.

    Hey Sean, I was just watching one of your videos where you did some mods to your umerex hdp 50. I wanted to run something by you. I watched a few other videos Wich one was horrible but the outcome was amazing shooting at 500 fps. Simply laid the hdp on its side popped out the pins, took off the brass valve on the back and removed the hotshot shaped block inside there and simple put it all back together without that valve block. I really couldn't believe what I saw. The downside of it as I'm sure you already know is that they only got like 10 shots per 12gram co2s but at 500 fps it's to be expected. please lmk if you try it... Love you're videos keep it up my Man!

    • @lesslethalfordummies
      @lesslethalfordummies  11 месяцев назад

      The Hdp whether Usa or Canada comes as the 7.5j version. No restrictor, valve block. Remove the valve block will get about 18j with a 12g. Add some tuning extensions and you can reach 30. 500fps is with sub 2g balls. My hdp hit about 260 with 8.4g steel bearings. The hdp is awesome but the detent needs immediate attention.

    SHAWN , i find the HDP.50's i have to be very acurate my brother !!!! this is my 2nd or 3rd time watching this video .
    on accuracy , i constantly take my collection of lessthalethal markers , i practice shooting in lakes , and other smaller bodies of water.
    the water always shows a ninja where exactly the balls land lol ! there are always floating junk like sticks ,leaves and if im lucky plastics bottles on occasion i can shoot at and i sometimes bring my range finders to get an exact measurment of distance !!! !!! .
    so i was curious as to distance it can shoot , my best shooting hdp.50 shot a 8.39 gram ball at 97.4 yards before dropping !!! i always use lots of silicone oil so in over 1 year I have yet to break one of my detents .
    i cant stress enough people ,keep your markers well lubed with silicone oil .
    i been wondering SHAWN on the use of coiled hoses hooked to a co2 tank . to me ,this is a better option when playing in paintball games .the long coiled hose collects the ice while the pressure makes it to the marker .so i was wondering why it wouldnt be a better option for people using lower powered cos less than lethal marker ,pistols or rifles .some people dont have compressor to charge up hpa tanks .
    the reason i am asking , i am about to get 3 or 4 CQMF's a couple to keep for home defense and a couple to mod and sell !
    i am also thinking about the Valken vlack hawk foxtrot rig >>>

    • @lesslethalfordummies
      @lesslethalfordummies  Год назад

      Thanks for keeping the views up 😂. I just dont have any space to shoot long distance and my markers are all setup for close range.
      The length of hose does play a part in in shedding cold and increase efficiency.
      Better then a long hose are older paintball co2 tanks that had syphon tubes to extract gas from the bottles rather then liquid. There are some still out there but are getting hard and harder to find.

      I've found the Byrna kinetic rounds to be very effective when hitting a home invader in the groin and the knees. Two best spots to shoot as people don't wear anything heavy or thick in these areas. Of course head shots are what everyone says in the comments, but head shots open you up to lawsuits if you cause permanent injury to the invader. Shots to the knees and groin will heal up with time whereas a shot to the eye won't.
