  • Watch the video at 1.75 x speed to save time. This is the 9th game in the Road to Gold Series with the Flag up Front. My ELO is currenlty 476. In this game we learn how to counter attack a Marshal blitzer. We learn why it's important to have a bombed in flag if you Marshal Blitz. We learn how important it is to keep your high pieces unrevealed. We learn not to quit, even when you are losing badly. It's very important to work on your end games. Finally, we learn that game ending blunders, don't always end games and that you should stay focused until the very end.

16:00 onward about persisting through end games is a powerful analogy. "Even when you're behind, and it looks like you have no chance of winning- keep on playing". That's life!

It is hilarious that you sound exactly like what I would imagine a general in the mid 1800s would sound like

I do sound better at 1.5 times speed. I love that feature on youtube. I usually watch most videos at a faster rate to save time.

I didn't take it as an insult. But I think I do sound better at 1.5 speed and it saves time. 1.75 speed is nice too. It is strange hearing your own voice on video.

I guess this was a play from behind + flag upfront. Thanks for the double whammy. :)

In most of my games(and normal games) I usually play from behind. Information is usually a better advantage than material early in the game. I played the statitistics in this game, thinking a marshal blitzer has an open flag. I think around 80% of the time they do. Even with that debacle and my poor play, I somehow pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Always prove that your opponent can beat you, no matter how far down in material you get.

At 30:40. If you would gone a step to the right with the miner he had to kill your miner with his major and you would ve kill a major with your general, because your gen would be next to two majors.
    Edit:
You took his Scout with your minef which took your Spy.
And he didnt knew, thats a miner?

I missed that move too. I should have done that and captured the Major for the Miner, even though he'd be up 2 captains and 2 sergeants with my General trapped. I then could have opened up the right side and lottoed his pieces with my Major. I lost all focus when the General started coming back and thought I blew my chance at winning.
I'm not sure why he didn't capture my Captain with his General instead of moving next to the miner. Miners are important to get and I guess he could get my Captain any time he wanted.

Can you show us your favorite set up for a video 😁😁😁😁

    • @strategotacticsandtips5636
      @strategotacticsandtips5636  4 года назад +1

I probably will do a video on setups sometime this year. You can watch OuweSok's good video on setups for blitzers at this link. ruclips.net/video/yhQrzYv70lI/видео.html His "Broken Pieces" series of videos are also worth watching. He explains why pieces are usually placed on certain parts of the board. It will help you read your opponents pieces a lot better and understand how to build a good setup.
I like playing a balanced setup. I usually have the Marshal and General near the middle and my Colonels near them on the outside. I like a bombed in flag in the middle of the board(easier to defend). I liked attacking with Colonels on the sides, but I always make escape lanes for them, so they can retreat to safety. I like counter attacking with the General and usually have lots of scouting pieces surrounding my General. I also like to have 1 or 2 miners on the first 2 rows, usually behind the lakes, so I can bluff them as a high piece to win a scout or maybe to open up a bombed in flag during the mid game. You might want to go to the Stratego forum and look up other players posts on setups.

I missed 3 checkmates! Ugghhh! lol That game shows you shouldn't quit no matter how far behind you get. Make your opponent prove they can beat you. It's amazing how may games you can comeback and win if you just hang in there.

Hi, I'm glad you like the content. No, I don't give private lessons. I don't even have time to play right now. If you watch most of my videos, it should give you all the information you need to become at least a high gold / low platinum player, but it still takes time. You still have to have a pretty good memory and need to be able to do forward planning. You also need to play lots of games. Another tip is to watch some of the top players when they live stream games. To get to the highest level, you need to play as many top Platinum players as you can and constantly challenge yourself, even if you lose most of those games. You have to play the best players, to learn how to beat the best players.

It was like not seeing a checkmate until the 4th move. Awful ending. It's hard to stay focused when you know you are going to lose.
