Amazing. I love the fact I can finally visualise the town my nan and grandad came to, where my mum and family have grown up, and what the town I was born into looked like in the past. Incredible work. Thank you all
I'm blown away by the amount of work and detail thats gone into this, simply brilliant and educational.
I have lived in Ellesmere Port since 1972. Loved watching this, it made me cry happy tears
Absolutely brilliant, I wish something like this could be done for our town
Thanks to all who contributed to this video. Brings back many memories. My family moved to "The Port" from Liverpool in 1951 on my 4th birthday and I left to join the RAF in 1966.
Thats was so interesting, thank you to all that contributed.👌
This is absolutely amasing, we moved to the Port iñ 1965 and it was the best place ever we loved it. Just like I was there again thanks you so much.
This is absolutely brilliant. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing. Many thanks to all those involved in bringing this to us. My husband was raised on Princes Road 1950-1970 and was thrilled to see this. His grandfather was born at #2 Porters Row. The Beatles appearance at Civic Hall brought out the story (again) of how he ended up chatting with them in the dressing rooms above/behind the stage.
We as school kids had to go to the rivacre baths for swimming lessons, it was always freezing cold, one day it was 5 c but we still had to get in, the teacher was a Major Hunt, no guess for what he was called! on other days when finished and shaking like leaves we would get a bovril from the machine and burn our hands from shaking so much. ( Kevin Reynolds )
It's crazy seeing how much the place I've lived in for all my nearly 18 years of living changed before I was even born. There's this odd sense of familiarity when I start seeing parts of the town I recognise that's been here for years.
Thank you for your creativity
This is a wonderful video , made me quite emotional watching. Good work, thank you.
I am born and bread Ellesmere Port and I will never leave because this is my home, warts and all. There are worse places than Ellesmere Port in this country believe me..... I love the port... this video is fantastic thank you so much for sharing... 😊
bred
Amazing! I've never really appreciated where I grew up very much at all, but this truly special piece of work sheds a whole new light on it. It's such a pity that the town centre has been neglected so much over the past few decades as I'm old enough to remember when it was somewhere where we'd do all our shopping. Very well done, and thank you so much for sharing this.
Brilliant video very informative
If you go to rivica valley on a wet day and stand where the baths were you can still smell the chloride used in the water
That was absolutely superb, was born in Little Sutton.
This is absolutely fantastic.
I've lived in Ellesmere Port since 1975 and this brought back some happy memories. The animation was thoughtful and well done and brought the town's history to life.
Live there from 1966❤🎉
My Dad was a lorry driver and worked out of the “Cawoods” container base in the eighties and I was always in there with him, always loved the docks in the Port and it always makes me feel nostalgic going past on the M53
The ‘green giant’ was always known in Wolverham/Stanney as the blue tower, kudos for such a great video
A brilliant production and very well done to all concerned. I was born in the 'Port in July 1954 on Pooltown Rd. and lived in the area including Great Sutton until emigrating to France in 2005. Lots of happy memories of living & working in the 'Port. Many thanks to all for your hard work. I went to Pooltown Junior School and we went to Rivacre Baths for swimming lessons. The water was always so damn cold that, by the time I got in, everyone else was getting out. I still can't swim! Cheers!
Bravo! Well done to all involved in it's production.
Great video
Very enjoyable. One side of my family moved up from Wolverhampton to work at the ironworks and lived in a Jones Company house on Dudley Road. Good memories of many of the locations shown. Great work
Just Fantastic , thankyou.
You’ve just added visuals to all the stories/memories from great, grand and parents .
Thankyou again
👏👏👏👏👏 Excellent content.
fantastic video...i left 18years ago to New Zealand but this has made me really home sick...... always loved my home town but this really brings it home...thank you!
Lewis`s saverstore , so many happy memories working there and so many great friends still in my life.
Thank you for an amazing video, makes me sad as it seems to show how much we have lost and how little we have gained.
Amazing video. Seeing the old town square with Lewis’, Woolworths and Littlewoods brought the childhood memories flooding back.
Great video of what could have been! It’s disgusting what has been lost over the years through modernisation. As with most towns falling into neglect the port deserves money pumping into it in an attempt to kick start life into the town
I am proud to say that I am from Ellesmere Port and have seen many of these changes. I went to Our Lady 's school, I remember many a Saturday at the Queen's picture house. Later, I worked as a window dresser for Tolls, then the Co-op. Lovely to see the town's history. Thank you!😢
l am interested to know what secret island are you in ?
i went to Our Ladys also.
Loved this! Brought back so many of the good memories I have of the port. Born there in 1968 but live in the US now. Will always have so many happy memories of this place. Well done!😊
Absolute Brilliant Video, I cant believe how accurate it is and the attention to detail. Well done
I think lessons should be taught on children's home towns, maybe our youth would have more love to show for their surroundings. It could be great again, we need some good people to lead the change. I'd be more than happy to help.
Much gratitude to all involved in the making of this, wonderful work 👏👏👏
Thank you so much for you message and i agree about children being taught the history of there town.
This is being looked in to as we speak.
Many memories came back after watching, I have lived in the port since 1964. Very well put together vid
Thank you, what a brilliant video.. ❤
A great video - well done. Had to have a wry smile when the likes of a gas tower and Cabot Carbon are described as 'landmarks' 😄
This video is incredibly well done. Really enjoyed it ❤
Great to learn some of the towns history
Amazing documentary the level of detail is incredible. This should be shown on regional TV such as itv1 granada, BBC ONE North West HD or Local TV Liverpool.
I'm glad you like it...we are looking not this at the moment.
Brilliant well done all who produced this brings back great memories of how the port used to be.
Beautifully produced animation of the place I was born in and still live. However, it was saddening to see how many houses and places of historical interest, have been needlessly demolished to make way for expansion and so-called urban improvements. The demolition of The Boat House Tavern, in particular, was to my mind nothing less than an act of vandalism, by town planners, who clearly could not have cared less, about Elleereere Port's history and heritage. Quite shameful when you think about it!
Absolutely Fabulous xx
This is an excellent animation. It brings back so many happy memories of my childhood growing up and working in Ellesmere Port.
Well done all! Fantastic overview of key events and professionally put together! Thank you everyone who contributed.
I found this fascinating! I have never been to the area, but something about the story, the graphics and the narration are very compelling. I had to watch it twice with many pauses for a look around. Thank you for the great video!
How great is that and you've never been to the area.
I'm glad you enjoyed it
What a fabulous video and place EP and its surrounding villages are. Thank you for capturing the journey so very well
Fabulous.
Lovely memories 💜
Wow. So nice to see the visual history of the town. Ty.
An excellent piece of work
This is a really enjoyable video. Thanks to all those who worked so hard to accomplish this.
Brilliant video with great content many thanks
Amazing video congratulations to all who helped to produce a true work of art
Totally awesome, amazing work, my memories are from the 60s onwards but brilliant to see the history of the port. Well done to all of you.
Great video showing local history
Stunning. Thanks for doing this.
Remember some of the changes since the 80's. Shame the baths closed the year I was born.
Great little watch and history of El Porto.
Absolutely fantastic . Thank you
Fine work to everyone involved!
This is great! I've lived here all my life it's lovely to see the history like this. Congrats to all involved 😊
Excellent video. Well done.
I remember swimming at the Rivacre Baths in the early 1970's, great animation, many thanks 😊
I got burnt to a cinder at the baths,no one bothered with suncream in the 70s lol.
Absolutely brilliant ❤ thank you.😊
Incredible work! Absolutely fascinating :)
What an amazing video, I've no idea how it's been created but it must have took a lot of time putting it together. I really enjoyed watching it, thank you
Thanks for that.
Lovely video brings memories back
great work well done
What a brilliant video.
I live in Great Sutton, I really liked this.
Wow, that was brilliant! I particularly liked the bit with The Beatles as I was there that night 😊
That was a special part for myself Sue as my mum Cassandra Simpson was Miss Wolverham at the time...she is seen in the animation on left having her photo taken as the camera fly's in through the Civic Hall.
I am from Liverpool but really enjoyed that. I used to visit Riveacre baths as a kid. I hope Ellesmere Port does well in the future. Out of interest, will the film makers be doing similar animations for other towns and cities?
Thank you very much... dextra visual have made other animations of various towns.
If you click on the link that I've added to our film here it will take you to his RUclips account.

Fantastic video. I'm from Ellesmere port. My mum was born and raised in the original port on Merseyton Road. Pre war. My uncle was a well known local historian before he died. Would it be ok to cover the project in the Archaeology and Metal detecting magazine which I am editor of?
Hi there thank you for your kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Yes that's fine to cover it but please send me a link to the magazine so I can read it and share it.
