  • I'll never forget this moment ... here is Barack Obama on election night, in the moments after his speech, with the music from Remember the Titans playing. The views from around the country and their reactions to this moment were even stronger than the speech itself. What an amazing night for America.

I was there. It was one of the greatest moments of my entire life, made greater because he belonged to Chicago. We sent him to the State House, we sent him to Capitol Hill and he came home to us that night as President of the United States. Now he belonged to the country and the world, but he was ours first and always. Chicago will roll out the red carpet for him when he comes home.
After eight disastrous years of Bush, Obama was proof that when the people choose the President, the people make the right choice for the country. Majority rule really works. It was only when the Supreme Court overruled the will of the people that America fell apart. But when we took back the vote and thwarted the special interests, we picked the right person at the right time to get America back on track. Your one vote really does matter. I didn't vote and we got George Bush. I voted and we got President Obama. Bush happened because people like me didn't vote. I will never take my vote for granted again.

Well, I don't believe Americans have memories, since they already forget 8 years ago, the economic crisis and forever war. Otherwise, how can they elect another republican president again. So pathetic, just wait to see another war in the near future and all your pathetic Americans' tax will go to military and invade other countries, and wait for that terrible economic crisis happen again and all those pathetic Americans will lose their houses again. So deserve it, Americans.

I was there too. That was such a wonderful night.. The unity in the audience was beautiful. Me and this white man (who I didn't even know lol) literally hugged up for the majority of the speech.. That was the energy there, it was so beautiful and the bars were off the hook. Everybody just hanging out celebrating one of our own going to the White house. Yes Chicago was beautiful that night..

This was my first time voting in a Presidential election, and unfortunately I had to do it outside of my home district because I was 20 and a junior in college. So, I am so blessed to later on tell my children and their children that I was able to be apart of history, seeing the first African American man to be elected President of the United States. Also tell them that my peers and I marched around the entire university to celebrate the victory that unfolded that warm, beautiful November night in 2008 35 minutes away from Chicago! I get misty thinking about it!

Also, don't forget to tell them of All the "obstacles" thrown his way endeavoring to try to make him fail, yet he persevered with dignity, class, and style ... with it blowing up in all the saboteurs and nay-sayer's faces!! :-) This man has accomplished more in 4 years then Most any other Presidents have in just 4. :-)

Just like you say you joined together to 'pull through big on this one' you have to be prepared to unite and pull through for your country as well.
In the words of Edward Abbey:
"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government. ”

To this day, this night stands out as one of the most poignant moments of my life. It renewed my hope for humanity and this country in particular. I felt like this was the night we got our country back. Now in 2010, I feel like for all his faults, Obama has pulled us back from the brink and is moving us forward in the best way he can. Even if he accomplishes only a fraction of what he promised, I still consider him a success because of what he inherited.
