I remember that night well. State Senator Obama delivered The Keynote Address.I had never seen him before but I knew he was running for U.S.senator from Illinois. I was watching the speech in my bedroom and at the end of the speech I hurried into the den and announced to my Mother,"he's go to be our first Black president"! I didn't think it would be only four years later when Senator Obama would become president-elect and win two terms.I still love President Obama!!!
Obama was and will remain one of the greatest American president. A very sincere, humorous and candit American! God Bless 🙏 you president Obama and your family.

First of all, you don't know me, so you can't make any of those claims. Secondly, book smart does not mean smart in general. Some of the biggest dumb asses have advanced degrees, and on the flip side, many brilliant people have not gone to college. So all of what you wrote is useless drivel. There is however video proof that Obama turns into a stuttering idiot without his teleprompter.
+Gerald Njihia he used different patterns on the speech from different people that had made the perfect speech, but the thing is that even by using his patterns you can see his convictions, you can see that hes not lying, you can see that he believes 100% on what he says that deserves my respect
leafyutube Oh so you think he's just told what to say? No, he writes those speeches and it's put on a teleprompter. You think his spectacular delivery and voice fluctuation is all due to a teleprompter? Damn, you're the definition of bias. Stop trying to diminish his success because you can't handle the fact that he's president.
The seeds of greatness were sewn that night. Never has one amazing speech taken anyone so far. It's like watching my little brother acheive well beyond anything I could have imagined for him because of his faith in his abilities. I don't mean to be corny but this country and the world really need this brilliant young man.
WOW. I'm writing a SS essay on the greatest speeches of all time. Somehow I found my way here, and I realize it was no accident. This is actually making me tear up, I don't care what you think about me, I just think this speech is fantastic and know I will get a perfect grade on this paper.
What an amazing speech! Well, He made it until the End of the road.... and believe it or not..... he is the President of the United States. Well done President Obama.... you are awesome.
This isn't a complete version of this speech. Why was this version edited? One of the best parts of Obama's 2004 DNC speech was cut out for some reason. This part: "The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue States: red states for Republicans, blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states. We coach little league in the blue states and, yes, we've got some gay friends in the red states." "There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq, and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America."
LMFAO @ the idiots in this country that just want good speeches because it comforts them in their delusions. Notice none of you idiots are talking about how you're going to miss his policies. Obama was one of a kind, he appeared during rough times, when we needed hope and inspiration. Watch out for another "Obama" during the 2020 election. He/she is out there. (Might even be reading this?)
Hearing Obama's voice gives me comfort in the difficult times that we are experiencing in America now. I am thankful for his heartfelt support for President Biden in ,his campaign to be elected President in 2024..
Really? How so? The way he doubled the nat'l debt? The way he's allowed ISIS to proliferate through N Africa w/ his inept foreign policy? Is it the 45 million on food stamps? What about all the wars he's started incl. in Yemen, Libya or the Syrian refugee migration? Wait! What about all the jobs he's created (I mean lost or given away to globalist trade deals)! How about the racial discord he's instigated? Or the billions of US tax dollars he's given to Iran to allow them to build nukes meanwhile depleting the US military of their nukes and diminished the space program. Yup, I mean he's so great - HE READ A SPEECH SOMEONE ELSE WROTE! Just incredible.

He didn't instigate racial discord, people are just addressing the fact that there is still racism even to this day in this country. The average black american still get treated worse than the average white, it's not the presidents job to sugarcoat it so certain people can feel good about it. You also show great ignorance of the nuclear deal with Iran, which makes regular inspections mandatory and forbids them from building nuclear weapons, in return american companies and citizens can do business with the country and it's economy. And the money they received was assets we froze when we hit them with sanctions in the first place, so it's not taxpayers cash, it's confiscated goods. Let's look at all the great stuff he did: He halted Bush's recession. He ended Bush's wars. He introduced healthcare to 20 million people who couldn't afford it. He nominated in Sotomayor, a justice who deeply cares about the american people and legalized gay marriage. He kept this country running even though congress republicans were hell-bent on disagreeing with him not only on policies, but on principle, even trying to shut down the government by withholding spending or wasting everybody's time by putting almost all of his nominees through extremely long congressional hearing, same with those 40 something hearing on obamacare AFTER it was made law and they didn't even grant Obama's supreme court nominee a hearing. He diplomatically solved the Iran conflict, regardless of what has been said, and he reopened our relationship with Cuba. He isn't a perfect president, but he really did make an impact on America for the better, even beyond symbolism.
I was too young to remember/have had interest in this, but during the 2008 my mom told me about how a family friend had told in 2004: "Check this guy out, he's going to be big."
very refreshing to watch... he tried to unify this country. Yet I feel with racism, fear of ISIS, Trump, among other things this country is becoming more and more divided. We need to recognize we are ONE country and we should do what's best for the generations to come. I will surely miss Obama and his inspirational speeches and the energy he had toward lifting others with hope.
+jackcarterog001 but that's because he didn't run for president in 2004. It was all about supporting John Kerry, the democratic nominee, over Bush. I actually thought he must have run in 2004 too but I just realized he didn't.
What an amazing, inspiring speech! The US is fortunate to have such a great orator and leader as its president. Obama has definitely elevated the respect and prestige of the US around the world - 100 years down the line, Obama will be regarded as one of the greatest leaders in American history.
I am not from the US! But I love President Obama! What a man! what a beautiful, respectful and soulful human being! Even I miss him as the president of the USA!
The greatest speech by a presidential candidate ever! Come back president Obama we need u for many more years. God bless you!! Man I cant stop crying it touched deep in the heart
i watched this speech on tv the night he made it...he gave me goosebumps on my arms and then i noticed when the cameras panned out into the audience in the convention hall that alot of grown men had tears in their eyes... i believe this is one of the finest speeches ever made....
Erasmes De Rotterdam Well said! I've wondered about this myself. It looks like a blatant attempt to boost self-esteem without doing anything. In the US, people go on and on about being proud to be an American. All you have to do is be born here. Charles Manson was an American.
my community has history of great leaders.. From ancient times.. I know you may laugh at this..but Egyptian Pharaohs were blacks..my ancestors were part of it... It's not a coincidence that Obama is first black president of America.. It has all to do with his African heritage. He knows it as well! You have to read his books..
Reagan Nyangi "I'm proud of him because I share same ancestry with him..speak same language as his dad..his story just inspired me as well" You mean the story of how his African dad left him when Obama Jr was one year old? Yes, a truly inspiring story. You must be very proud to share same ancestry as the father who ran out and left his child.
Love, love Barack Obama, I miss him so much; his brilliance, his dignity and his decency. Highly educated, well spoken, a brilliant man in every way. Thank you president Barack Obama.❤️❤️❤️
Ausgust 17,2024 still love watching Obama speech , so motivated and inspiring . He has great charisma. The best speech ever . My best president ever ❤❤.
I've actually lost count of the number of times I've seen this Video. So, from now on, I'll drop a comment every time I return! Thank you President Obama 22/8/2024
This gives me hope not only for a better future in America but around the world, it really motivates you for a better future for everyone in this planet
As a Republican, even though I disagree with some of the stances Obama has taken during his presidency, something that I cannot argue is his ability to deliver a speech. Obama is arguably one of the most passionate speakers and perhaps we may never hear anyone come close to his stage presence
On the verge of turning just 43 years old. This speech is the launchpad. A man and President who will hopefully continue calling us to our better angels for decades to come.
"That is the true genius of America, a faith in the simple dreams of its people, the insistence on small miracles. That we can tuck in our children at night and know they are fed and clothed ... That we can *participate in the political process without fear of retribution*, and that our votes will be counted..." No comment necessary.
I remember watching this speech and thinking... man he would make a great President! He speaks with such conviction, I loved the energy he brings with him.
Sorry to add a darker tone here. How did the American political machinery manage to run this generational talent into the ground? There was so much hope associated with his vision, his persona. After his optimism failed to truly make an impact, yes even led to a total backlash of comedy and lies, I think I lost faith in the American political system as a whole.
Best political speech of my lifetime. I still get chills when I listen to it after all these years
best speech is Bongobondo Sheikh Mujibor Rahman
You must be six seconds old?
Michael Kelly very true
I agree as it has the same affect on me. Thanks

The way he speaks, I think he could even serve TWO terms!

Well spoken. Well articulated.Great orator. Strong and devoted. He really is a fine leader

I agree with you 💯💯💯 not to mention a decent man.
When my grandma saw this live in 2004 she came out of her room and told me to watch this. She said that he would be president one day.
The speech that made him President
Obama became president in 2008 not 2004.
Yea no shit. I was saying this is the speech that made obama well known enough for him to run for president
+darkdiablo888 you were Not saying that Lol :P but it is true
You must be incredibly dense to not have understood what I meant.
+darkdiablo888 thank you! really thats a good argument
Barack...you are loved and will be truly missed.

Amparo Yebes McDuffie naw other way around
I Agree!!! History will be kind to President Obama!!!
The speech that made Obama president.
That speech Still brings tears to my eyes 🥲
I was too young to remember/have had interest in this, but during the 2008 my mom told me about how a family friend had told in 2004: "Check this guy out, he's going to be big."
This historic speech made Obama as President Obama ...
very refreshing to watch... he tried to unify this country. Yet I feel with racism, fear of ISIS, Trump, among other things this country is becoming more and more divided. We need to recognize we are ONE country and we should do what's best for the generations to come. I will surely miss Obama and his inspirational speeches and the energy he had toward lifting others with hope.
LMFAO @ missing his speeches.
Not one word regarding his actions and policies AND FOR GOOD REASON.
+jackcarterog001 but that's because he didn't run for president in 2004. It was all about supporting John Kerry, the democratic nominee, over Bush. I actually thought he must have run in 2004 too but I just realized he didn't.
jojito gonzales1081
What?
he didn't run for president in 2004. look it up.
jojito gonzales1081
No shit. That's not what I was saying "what?" in regards
What an amazing, inspiring speech! The US is fortunate to have such a great orator and leader as its president. Obama has definitely elevated the respect and prestige of the US around the world - 100 years down the line, Obama will be regarded as one of the greatest leaders in American history.
I don’t like this guy, I just don’t like him.
Not a fan of Obama, didn't vote for him, but his is one hell of a great speech.
it's called deception
Note how he said he wasn't a fan of Obama.
Like how frank you are..great
no matter who wins..... US will miss this man.... in near future......
the greatest speech ever
2019 still watching this video
I am not from the US! But I love President Obama! What a man! what a beautiful, respectful and soulful human being! Even I miss him as the president of the USA!
I remember watching this speech live.
It's about as good as it gets.
The greatest speech by a presidential candidate ever! Come back president Obama we need u for many more years. God bless you!! Man I cant stop crying it touched deep in the heart
how come after this amazing guy, you Americans get a Trump?
Lucas Cabral this amazing guy tried to give us Hillary.
Pelon OOE hahaha true
well he had to pick between Hillary and Trump so it makes sense.
Paul James tough decision man lmao that was one shit election
Lucas Cabral he is not an amazing guy, he's a race bating liar
i watched this speech on tv the night he made it...he gave me goosebumps on my arms and then i noticed when the cameras panned out into the audience in the convention hall that alot of grown men had tears in their eyes... i believe this is one of the finest speeches ever made....
am proud to have the same ancestral roots with Obama!!!
Erasmes De Rotterdam Well said! I've wondered about this myself. It looks like a blatant attempt to boost self-esteem without doing anything. In the US, people go on and on about being proud to be an American. All you have to do is be born here. Charles Manson was an American.
I'm not American.. I'm proud of him because I share same ancestry with him..speak same language as his dad..his story just inspired me as well
my community has history of great leaders.. From ancient times.. I know you may laugh at this..but Egyptian Pharaohs were blacks..my ancestors were part of it... It's not a coincidence that Obama is first black president of America.. It has all to do with his African heritage. He knows it as well! You have to read his books..
Am an educated man. Am proud of myself as well.. :-)
Reagan Nyangi "I'm proud of him because I share same ancestry with him..speak same language as his dad..his story just inspired me as well"
You mean the story of how his African dad left him when Obama Jr was one year old? Yes, a truly inspiring story. You must be very proud to share same ancestry as the father who ran out and left his child.
Love, love Barack Obama, I miss him so much; his brilliance, his dignity and his decency. Highly educated, well spoken, a brilliant man in every way. Thank you president Barack Obama.❤️❤️❤️
Came here in July 2025 to watch this amazing speech

This was an outstanding, excellent historic speech that led to Barack Obama's historic presidency
he is one of our great speakers: Lincoln, Kennedy, Reagan and then Obama, respectively..
How do you know? None of us have ever heard Lincoln speak.
+Ryan Dong lol

Humble Speech that comes out from the heart is legendary. Is difficult to deny result ❤
I remember watching this speech, and thinking "this guy is going to be president."
From Kenya to USA we love Obama ❤
This gives me hope not only for a better future in America but around the world, it really motivates you for a better future for everyone in this planet
As a Republican, even though I disagree with some of the stances Obama has taken during his presidency, something that I cannot argue is his ability to deliver a speech. Obama is arguably one of the most passionate speakers and perhaps we may never hear anyone come close to his stage presence
Barack=Mubarack=Blessing...correct.
I'm from Namibia, but truly I have no words to describe this speech! What a speech!!! Obama is definitely a witty speaker.
Living Legend.. Great speech :)
Right? his body language grabs you in.
That we can *participate in the political process without fear of retribution*, and that our votes will be counted..."
No comment necessary.
God bless America
I remember watching this speech and thinking... man he would make a great President! He speaks with such conviction, I loved the energy he brings with him.
Holy shit he looks young
Listening to this speech in 2017 still gives me chill.
Why did this video cut out the part where he talks about red states and blue states around 13 mins?
Sorry to add a darker tone here. How did the American political machinery manage to run this generational talent into the ground? There was so much hope associated with his vision, his persona. After his optimism failed to truly make an impact, yes even led to a total backlash of comedy and lies, I think I lost faith in the American political system as a whole.
Switch on the subtitle . Go to 1:34 . Express your thoughts below:
"Hurting goats" LMAO :D
Yes, I wonder why that cut that. It was a great part of the speech!!
