  • ‪@Johnny-jr2lq‬ ‪@mckwilly‬ This is an effort to answer a question I was asked by Johnny 1982 about the technique I use to make sure I'm getting consistency in my measurements. What's better than measuring a bullet? How about measuring one of those really nice bullets from MCK? Enjoy folks!

I watched this last night on big screen. (Cannot comment)
    ♥️♥️♥️GREAT VIDEO!!!!♥️♥️♥️
    I even posted a VR!
I use a dial most often, but the mic for diameters regularly too. Also find a ball caliper useful for neck thicknesses.
    Very well done video!!

Good vid Lead Brother, maybe do a vid on how to read analog reloading tools as it seems like everyone is at least acquiring analog tools as a 'just in case' arises. I recently picked up a couple of vintage Ohaus beam scales and a newer analog dial caliper. Scale is easy to read, the calipers took a little but fine. One way people can learn is if you can read digital, take the same bullet(or whatever you are measuring and take a digital reading then analog and see what it says. After a few times of comparison its easy, thats how I learned lol

I've got a gunsmith buddy that has wanted to start a channel. I think that would be the perfect kind of start for him. @Rooster Kuepper
Thanks for coming by... PS, i responded to you on MEWE

@@leadsmith5873 Did Rooster start the channel yet? Maybe give him a shout out once he has a vid up so we can give him a good start.... I need to get into the habit of checking MEWE lol

I may need to put a bug in his ear again. The Starret micrometer that I use in my videos was a gift from him. He's the one who taught me how to read it. He's also the one responsible for starting my handloading addiction lol.

Everyone should get a 1" standard and practice measuring if they want to be consistent with calipers. They should also have a 0-1" mics for closer measurements. Calipers can't measure. 0005".
    Good video.

Agreed... A nice quality 1in micrometer will reveal a lot that goes unnoticed with our calipers. When I first started using tools like this, I let the little .0005 on a set of digital calipers cause me frustration. Low and behold, it meant nothing for anything I was working with. If anything, it was nothing more than the equivalent of the needle on a dial caliper not lining up perfectly with a .001 graduation.

I did the same. Seems like the digitals have an easier price tag for starting out.
