I think it's more about Punk bad mouthing people Seth really likes like his shield buddies and Triple H etc. I don't blame him, but I will always be on CM Punk's side when it comes to issues against him. He knows he was angry back in the day and has changed. You can tell in his promos, he's not cut throat like he used to be, cause his old promos were full of real life rage of his workplace.

Seth is good on the mic and always has been, but Punk is on a completely different level. The whole promo made me think about how an outwitted comedian might work day and night to come up with the perfect joke to destroy whoever outwitted him, and then after he tells the joke the other guy just shouts something out and the whole crowd laughs and applauds. Seth sounds like someone who can stay up all night and craft a very good promo; meanwhile Punk can just wait for Seth to stop talking and know that whatever he comes up with will be a hundred times better. If they can work *this* dynamic into the match then it could be amazing.

in all honestly, I liked CM Punk's verbal warfare better with MJF than with Seth Rollins; reason being that CM Punk brings out the best in people, except when people seem to have a vendetta against him for reasons Punk and/or fans do not understand. I get what you are saying and Seth is the corporate guy but they didn't chose Seth over Punk or anything like that. Punk left well before any of the Shield guys really blew up and Punk leaving boiled down to WWE health and not giving him the main event spot which he deserved easily. But from the WWE's perspective it wasn't a slight. It's just that Punk got very unlucky that WWE booked Cena and Rock two years in a row. That was pretty much the plan all along and Cena and Rock are basically the biggest stars in the past 20-30 years easily so there was no chance Punk could ever get the spot. Nobody would....these were the days of 1 night mania. Punk happened to be red hot those very same years they were booked and that was it.

If you want to know why fans react to CM Punk it's because he's genuinely himself and authentic as it gets. Punk is the greatest promo of his generation, period. It still baffles me that years after he fell out with WWE crowds were still chanting his mame. Which rock, austin, cena and reigns could never begin to brag about. He shut set up with being the corporations chosen one/lap dog cause it was in kayfabe and real life, thats where seths animosity for punk stems from.

With Seth walking around I think it added to it. Shows the contrast where Seth wants the fight and has some that barely contained need to get to it whereas Punk standing his ground shows Seth is a roadblock before he gets to what he actually wants in a title match. The guys killed it

I also push back on the foolhardy narrative that's getting pushed in the comment section by some, as well here in the headline that CM Punk schooled or destroyed Seth Rollins. The only point that goes against Seth Rollins half of the promo in my opinion is the tires cliche that someone took their ball and went home. As well someone trying to bury their former employer/employee and put them in a bad light. The truth is the truth whether you like that truth or not. I agree that there is no love loss between the two, but totally disagree that they hate each other so much that they can't do business. I’m generally not a fan of Seth’s goofy bad joker impression promos, but the stuff he did going into wm40 and basically anytime he’s been toe to toe with punks he’s been great. If I had to pick one guy from that segment I would go with punk but only slightly. Seth did a great job as well. The truth is the winner was the fans because that promo from both guys felt real. I can see Punk and Rollins potentially having one of the best feuds of the year. Rollins can’t match him on promos but you can tell the real heat between the two and it makes you want to see whatever they are going to do.

AEW has its booking problems, but at least Punk was used to shine a light on their up and coming talent. He did great things with Darby, MJF, and Ricky Starks. WWE is just putting him with Drew and Seth. Sure, they’ll end up having some solid matches but it’s not really doing anything for anyone involved.

Seth is good on the mic and always has been, but Punk is on a completely different level. The whole promo made me think about how an outwitted comedian might work day and night to come up with the perfect joke to destroy whoever outwitted him, and then after he tells the joke the other guy just shouts something out and the whole crowd laughs and applauds. Seth sounds like someone who can stay up all night and craft a very good promo; meanwhile Punk can just wait for Seth to stop talking and know that whatever he comes up with will be a hundred times better. If they can work *this* dynamic into the match then it could be amazing.
This perfectly explains the different levels Seth and Punk are in terms of mic skills. One is Kevin Hart and the other is Dave Chappelle.

I get what you are saying and Seth is the corporate guy but they didn't chose Seth over Punk or anything like that. Punk left well before any of the Shield guys really blew up and Punk leaving boiled down to WWE health and not giving him the main event spot which he deserved easily. But from the WWE's perspective it wasn't a slight. It's just that Punk got very unlucky that WWE booked Cena and Rock two years in a row. That was pretty much the plan all along and Cena and Rock are basically the biggest stars in the past 20-30 years easily so there was no chance Punk could ever get the spot. I also push back on the foolhardy narrative that's getting pushed in the comment section by some, as well here in the headline that CM Punk schooled or destroyed Seth Rollins. The only point that goes against Seth Rollins half of the promo in my opinion is the tires cliche that someone took their ball and went home. Yeah the crowd got it because we’re hip (snaps fingers) to the jive, daddio. I’ve seen better promos if I’m honest. The last one that got me was the Cena / Reigns promo “I can do this better part time than you can ever do this full time promo”.
There’s been a disconnect with Seth since he started dressing like a fool. Randy Savage wasn’t this outlandish,his gear was colorful but it was still masculine. Seth is just Ru Paul at this point.
I mean...Jesse Ventura was wearing frills and eyeliner on SNME back in the day, Seth looks ridiculous but he didn't *invent* it.

I’m generally not a fan of Seth’s goofy bad joker impression promos, but the stuff he did going into wm40 and basically anytime he’s been toe to toe with punks he’s been great.
If I had to pick one guy from that segment I would go with punk but only slightly. Seth did a great job as well. The truth is the winner was the fans because that promo from both guys felt real. When it they were done I felt worked in the best possible way. Awesome stuff, very excited for Monday night

I can see Punk and Rollins potentially having one of the best feuds of the year. Rollins can’t match him on promos but you can tell the real heat between the two and it makes you want to see whatever they are going to do.

It’s what totally put me off to Rollins. I always found his voice to be grating, but then he has this one-sided beef with Punk after Punk said something to the effect stop going on twitter to air out grievances, which was at least three years after Punk left WWE. Yet Rollins claimed that his beef with Punk was because he went against WWE, which would have been years prior to him going to AEW. I’m all for liking your job, but to hate someone because they hated their place of employment and said so is worth a years long vendetta is stupid as fuck.

At the end of the day more people relate to being the employee changing jobs for more money or better however you wanna call job satisfaction, be it less shitty managers, more time with friends and family, chance of promotion or whatever, more people relate to that than siding with the corporate "this worker chose to work elsewhere so hate them"
The idea Seth can't match Punk on the mic is laughable when he already has. Hell you can argue he beat Punk in this last exchange. Also the Seth criticisms are funny. Lets talk about the two main ones. First hes a crossdresser/ looks ridiculous/ wears his wifes clothes. Ok no one seemed to be complaining about this when Gorgeous George, Ric Flair, Macho Man Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels were doing it, and they are some of the top most beloved superstars ever. The other one is hes a corporate stooge. He never got over organically, he was forced down the fans throats yada yada. Ok so being loyal to a company, and saying nothing, but good things is being a stooge now. If that's the case Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton are some of the biggest corporate creations/ stooges ever. They also happened to be some of the greatest of all time. Just because the company pushes you from the get go doesn't mean it wasn't earned, or that it isn't well received by fans. CM Punk is one of the most over stars of his generation, but he isn't floating above everyone else. He couldn't get AEW over WWE just like Hogan with WCW. Being a rebel is nothing new. I like Punk, but people are using him to try and make Seth seem not that big of a deal. Look im just going to say it like this. If Punk is Brett then Seth is Shawn.

AEW has its booking problems, but at least Punk was used to shine a light on their up and coming talent. He did great things with Darby, MJF, and Ricky Starks. WWE is just putting him with Drew and Seth. Sure, they’ll end up having some solid matches but it’s not really doing anything for anyone involved.
I don’t believe Seth got left in the dust he knows how to fire up and get serious when he needs to.
