The world lost civil rights leader Nelson Mandela today. The former South African President passed away at the age of 94, after a lifetime spent fighting oppression and promoting peace.
Music played a vital role in South Africa's anti-apartheid movement. So CBC Music commissioned Montreal singer Lorraine Klassen to write a song to celebrate Mandela's life. Lorraine was born and raised in Soweto, South Africa, and she's the daughter of the legendary South African jazz singer, Thandie Klassen. Thandie was one of Nelson Mandela's favourite singers. She performed at his wedding and at his inauguration.

Nelson Mandela went on a fight against the impossible. Power, money, influential people and the law were on his path. He managed to win. How incredible it is for a single man to win such a fight for #Justice! Rest in Peace.

He was a terrorist and his wife a murderer. He destroyed a first world country and decreased black life rates, why would we celebrate his accomplishments? Only God knows how repentant his heart was and how sorry he was for what he did but I see no reason for celebrating his "accomplishments"
