Mohammed might be slipping, but a point worth pointing out is hawk eye isn't always on point, especially on clay court. What the hawk eye shows is a simulation based on the ball's trajectory, very precise on hard courts. but not when there is an uneven surface, the ball's behavior can be hard to predict and simulation can slightly deviate from reality, which is why clay court tournaments still use ball marks as reference. So when Hawk Eye and Chair have different calls, it doesn't always mean the chair is wrong. (on clay court)

They can't. A supervisor only can decide if the rules of the tournament have been correctly applied. It cannot change a decision of an umpire on whether a ball was in or out.
I don’t understand sometimes there’s a very wrong call like the umpire that didn’t see the ball. Then one player (Dzumhur) starts arguing for 10 mins and no one asks the other player? Why didn’t the umpire ask the other player if there was a ball?! Then this other player sitting there quietly not saying a thing is also maddening. It happens all the time. For a moment you’d forget there are two players involved.
Feel a little sorry for Damir. She may have not seen the ball come into the court until after but she did see the ball in the court at some point so it should be a let.

Sure, but this is Tennis. In this sport, the crowds are expected to be respectful. They literally can be told by the ref to calm down. Does it still happen? Of course. Did Nishioka handle this in all the wrong ways? Hell yeah. But he wasn't wrong on the principle of the thing. He was technically right but emotionally dumb.
When I see these on court disputes, I just have the feeling that the umpires are too soft on the ranting players. It is absolutely unacceptable how some players communicate with the umpires. Not to mention how absurd the arguments of the players often are.
I am so fed up with the stupid clay season. It's 2023! The Hawk-Eye is using for almost 10 years. The other tournaments even use electronic line judge. The clay world still in the Stone Age.

Late response, but every umpire's performance is being judged and graded by supervisor (hence, their only reason of existence), with best graded umpire's get to referee most important matches (like GS finals). When umpire's do a lot of mistakes or makes a critical mistake, he gets a bad grade and has to referee less important matches like challenger tour or something like, I don't really know how their promotion system works, but that's how it works in general

Do the line umps get microphones? because I genuinely wonder if the speed of sound is a factor here. The chair ump will hear their calls that tiny bit after the player will hear the call. Genuine question if anyone has thoughts on this, I can understand if it seems silly.

I hate it when umpire admits she/he has made a mistake, then go on and say sorry but she/he couldn’t do anything about it. Why admitting you made a mistake if you are not allowed to change the outcome? If an umpire doesn’t act too sure, why could they think they could convince the players that they are right in the first place? Sometimes when players get heated, umpires got too much verbal abuse unfairly, but aren’t they supposed to act like an authority on court? If you don’t act tough, players won’t listen to you.

Lahyani is a such a clown umpire, never accepts his mistakes, tries to be dramatic and funny for some reason. Novak was absolutely right there, he calls the score after 20 seconds and tries to sound funny. Just cheering for the other player is not something you can complain about - imagine the whole career of Novak Djokovic if that would be the case. Only in tennis you'll find players so entitled they think they have a right to complain to the umpire that the local crowd is supporting the local player.

Lahyani is a such a clown umpire, never accepts his mistakes, tries to be dramatic and funny for some reason. Novak was absolutely right there, he calls the score after 20 seconds and tries to sound funny. He has got some media attention in past and now thinks he's a celebrity, dude you are an umpire, just do your job.
You know what, Novak even apologized to him few games later to have shouted against him. Novak is very special!
