I fired a friend's SAR 9 and really liked how it manages recoil. I am no scientist, but it felt like the bore height to hand was pretty low...even lower than a Glock. Really nice pistol...will probably go out and buy one.
I rented both of these recently and ended up buying the SAR 9. As a beginner with very little experience, the SAR 9 just felt better and more controllable. In my opinion it looks cooler too!
Wow really? I just picked up the Sars. Got the Tpsa and love it. Wasnt thinking the Sar would be better but going to find out. The Tpsa trigger feels way better. Did you notice that?

Have had one now for 6 months no problems really like it only thing I did was sar offers 3 other recoil springs dropped mine down to the middle poundage spring what a difference
Been carrying the original Canik TP9DA since they first came out and see no reason to switch. However, it is nice to know more about the SAR9 and I have several other Sarsilmaz Pistols and they have been great!
I have the TP9SF and SAR 9. Both have their good and bad, but in all, they are very well made "budget " guns. Put a fiber optic front on the Canik, and paint on the Sarsilmaz front sight. Thanks for the comparison 😎
I'm interested to know what color paint and type you put on the SAR front sight. I have sights paint (orange) two months now but is reluctant to apply for fear of making the sights darker than they already are. I find the front sights as they are fairly hard to pick up.
@@fromthesticks2027 that should work fine. Apply with a toothpick dipped in the paint. You may have to do it a few times to get the desired color. If you don't end up liking it, you can easily change the color.
Nice review! I was wondering how the Sar recoiled in comparison to the Canik. Nice to know that it’s a flat shooter. To me that’s the only downside to Walthers and Caniks, but like you said it can be overcome with training. I just prefer a flatter shooting gun. Thanks for the info!
my input...owned 3 different caniks (da, sa, and updated version of da); I was 'ok' accuracy with all 3...not a fan of the grip aesthetics (too blocky); currently own an sar-9 & the grip is alot better and my accuracy is better than with caniks; current market conditions hamper getting extra mags for either caniks or sar-9!
Love it when people do budget reliable gun reviews botj guns look great but I'll prolly go with the Sar 9 because it cost lest...you should do a comparison between the Sar 9 and the Taurus TH9,Taurus does get a lotta crap from the public but the new QC people has really stepped up their game and been hearing that those guns are now running up to 5k rds without any issues.I'm an M&P guy got both of the 2.0 in 9 and .45acp runs flawlessly but also looking into reliable budget guns
The DeCocker on the TP9SA is a NON-ISSUE. It is Very Difficult to accidentally Engage the DeCocker. Even if you did accidentally Engage it, you can disable it by moving the Slide slightly Forward.
ummm.. Did i hear you say the canik had a gritty trigger? I have 3 of them and have shot A-Z firearms in 9mm and Canik has the best stock trigger bar none. You may be a Glock fan if it shoots like a glock. For the price and the quality I am sticking with Canik. Thanks for the review.
Yes sir, the Canik shoots way better than the SAR. I have both and no way the SAR Better than the Canik. My Canik tp9sfx is way better than recognize brands. Now the Canik is heavier but that’s good a little weight will help with the recoil, but some girls can’t handle a heavy gun😂
I’ve owned all models of the tp9 series and they are great but I feel the slides have a touche of wiggle (while shooting) maybe cause there to top heavy?? I’m just nit picking but my sar 9x feels great in the hands but have not shot it yet :/ Ps caniks do come with AMAZING stock triggers 😎. The sar trigg is good but not great imo
I have a Sar 9 since 1-19 it has 700 rounds through it not one malfunction the gun has been flawless 4-19 got a Canik tp9sfx it costed 130 dollars more than the Sar 9 the problem is l haven't shot it yet to give a opinion on it yet just haven't gotten around to it but it has gotten some really good reviews and because it's a competition gun and it costed more I'm expecting the same reliability and handling and slightly better accuracy the trigger on the Sar 9 is good but the Canik is even better similar to my Walther PPQ
SAR USA only gives you a one year warranty, and good luck getting them to answer your calls, or Emails. My SAR 9 came with one mag that was bad. The dimensions are off from the good mag. It causes the cartridges to nosedive under the feed ramp. I can’t get any response from their imaginary customer service.
G.K. USA. I have a Hellcat Pro, a Canick TP9, and a Sar 9. I love all three. The Hellcat Pro makes a good ISWB or large pocket pistol, while the Canik and the Sar can be carried IWB or OWB. I think the Sar has the edge.
I still own 2 Caniks, the TP9v2 and the SF elite. Just very curious how the SAR9 compares to the ST9. Overall I lean towards the ST9 from a design perspective but have never shot either.
Well that is quite interesting, because I have never owned a Glock or intend to in the future. Just overall not a big fan of the ergonomics or the trigger. So the truth is, most likely I should go with the ST9. I also like that the grip seems very reminiscent of a walther P99
Dont have the elite. And light triggers dont impress me. Those impressed by them usually have some kind of shortcoming in skill. The difference between a 4 and 6 pound pull is the shooters trigger finger. A 6 pound trigger feels like 2 pounds to me after using DA triggers all the time.
You could buy both for the price of a Glock. I believe either of these guns would handle +P+ loads. I have some 9PBLE and Buffalo Bore hot stuff I'm itching to try.

Get Canik it better gun for money. My New SAR9T I just bought fell apart field stripping it and slide would even come off the gun never even been fire. SAR9T use cheap polymer roll pin falls out gun when pull frame levers down on the gun for field stripping. Once polymer roll pin comes out your SAR9T disables you trigger until put back in gun. So want really cheap made handgun gun fall part can not field strip get SAR9. If your smart you buy Canik.

Took my Sar9 to the range today and it went through 300 rounds without a hiccup of 115/124 grain. Awesome gun!!

The trigger on the sar 9 they have a spring now where it is a lot less pounds that you have to pull it
I have a canik rival darkside and a tp9sfx. Both have strong recoil impulse for 9mm

I prefer the canik style triggers. Right or wrong you can stretch the trigger return spring a bit and in seconds have a much lighter pull

Numbers are helpful in comparisons. Trigger pull gauge will show a value.
Having a practiced and trained trigger finger will make this a non-issue
The factory sights on the sar9 are luminescent like the hk. Charge them with a flashlight and now you have night sights

ST9 is built similar to a USP while the SAR9 is like a glock

You can feel it when you pull it that the SAR has less resistance. Whether it hurts your performance is something else entirely

Get Canik it better gun for money. My New SAR9T I just bought fell apart field stripping it and slide would even come off the gun never even been fire.
