While me and a buddy played this I commented on how many enemies there were on the roads and how most games make the roads safe. Then it hit me that WE are the monsters of this world and of course the roads are for "people" and we're the ones coming in making them unsafe. Only thing I want added to this game is toggleable NPC raids against your bases to really make use of the Thrall systems and strategic castle placement in PvE modes.

more people you kill on roads and higher level enemies you kill dictate the difficulty of the raids on your base. kind of like gta wanted level. when you get 5 star. they're attacking at day with the most powerful foes in the game including a boss or 2
dude i felt the exact same things. this game is insane and at that price it feels like a steal... $60 games these days dont even offer half the enjoyment this game has to offer. blows my mind.
Because most Indie games like this focus exclusively more on gameplay while AAA titles tend to share focus on graphic, music, story etc. A game with high end graphic and rich gameplay would cost a fortune to make.
I went hard into this game for a few weeks. It's super addicting. Just recently killed the final boss. I'm really excited for the full release when that happens! The developers were very thorough in giving players the whole Gothic vampire experience with very fun combat and boss fights. I got super into the castlebuilding aspect and I hope the devs will add more fun items to decorate castles with.
I can give my 2 cents on this game. I have 200+ hours because I no-life'd it since release for about 3 weeks straight. The game is good. For an early access it's well designed and doesn't have a significant amount of bugs. It can be played PVE only on a solo world, and be enjoyed for about 50-100 hours. If you have no interest in PVP whatsoever, it's still worth the $20 price. Now, for PVP... I am sad to say it's currently in a bad state. It's a shame too because the core mechanics are very good. The combat is fast and fun and the abilities are so cool... but that's where a lot of the positives end. There are hundreds of problems with PVP like decay rates, official servers being completely filled with castles, the abundance of chaos volley until it was nerfed, Axe E being broken with a bad hitbox... the list is big so I can't get into them all. Coming from a MOBA, it's shocking how unfair most fights are. Gear plays wayyyyy too big of a role in PVP thanks to max health + spell power. That's not to say that PVP should no aspect of the survival to it: the time you put into a server should matter of course - but bad players will beat you every time if they just have more time on that specific server. WHICH wouldn't be a problem if every server wasn't dead in 2 days! Seriously, you have to restart almost every day you want to play this game. Players only play wipes because they know the server will die so fast because the end game sieging and PVP is so lack luster. Heck even some duel servers have popped up which unlock everything for you and you just do random 1v1 fights over and over. In its current state - The PVE is an 8/10 for me and a very good game. I highly recommend this $20 game for anyone The PVP is a 2/10 right now, and needs massive changes to get players to stop leaving. Only about 20k on steam charts right now, and it's been dropping every day. It's a shame because I love this game, and more specifically I love the concept of what it could be. For now, I've uninstalled and will wait for more PVP changes.

I don't agree with a lot of what you said about PvP, it's VERY skill based, i've lost count of how many skull players i killed because they were garbage, or how many 1v2 i won. The biggest problem with this game is obviously "meta", the Ice build, Sword + Spear combo and so on, that sadly makes most players at end game pick those weapons and cause a low variety of builds in PvP, but other than that, the PvP is extremelly fun and nowhere near a 2/10. As to the 2 day thing, yeah, that's pretty common in Survival games and i agree that specially in this game, it is sad... But, i did find a duo server that lasted for more than a week, the only problem is that there was 1 duo that was way, WAAAAAAY ahead of everyone else in the game, everyday, between 8pm to 0am, they would non-stop siege other people's castles! Destroying everyone's progress and most times, making most of people eventually quit the server as it's not worth rebuilding it all again. But that's kind of common in Survival games, Rust is a great example of this, once you build your base, do some PvE and get the best guns, all that's left is to do some PvP and if you lose your progress or get bored, then start it all over again in another server... And tbh, for a lot of people (myself included), the thrill is fighting people while you're trying to progress towards the endgame fast, then start it all over again.

I had a similar first and second day experience. Roped like 5 of my friends to play and stood up a private PvE server. I've put in just over 100 hours and am at the final three bosses and am looking forward to future updates to the game (especially the zone on the map you can't go to).
First playthrough is the best experience you can have in this game. Once you understand all the systems and how they do not work together flawlessly and how there is basically not as much replayability and endgame as it seems, the fun leaves the game quickly. Still, excellent overall worth for a 20€ early access title and really hope that the devs flesh the game out a lot. PS: The gameplay loop makes the first playthrough addicting like crack ;D
It's like a valheim/terraria/rust love child. So much potential especially if you love the pvp and are ok with server wipes. All it's lacking is procedurally generated maps. If the devs keep up with it then I feel it will be a real powerhouse.
Finished the game, yes I admit. It is addicting like crack. Now every day I just logon just to tend to my servant hunts, cotton gardens and ask global chat if anyone needs help with bosses, while waiting for new content this fall as announced by the devs.
From a purely PVE perspective for $20; you get a really amazing 20-30 hour progression experience with almost 40 unique bosses that all have different move-sets and mechanics; there are no palette swaps or re-used assets anywhere, yet they call it an early access game. The replay-ability comes from the PVP. I have 400 hours clocked in already playing on freshly wiped full loot servers and raiding bases. The PVP is really amazing and rarely feels unfair if you take the time to engage with all the systems. People say gear is too powerful; but at the end of the day most of your power comes from consumables which are accessible; and there are spells that you can time to "parry" or counter other player attacks and out-play them. I will admit that raiding mechanics need some work (raid golems are very fragile), you can speed-run to end-game too quickly, and there isn't much to do at end-game which leads to server lifespans being less than a week before they wipe. Still insanely polished and a full experience for an early access game and I'm hopeful they will add more replayable content. However, this game is a PVP game made by a PVP/hero arena developer. I assume most of the development going forward will work towards extending the life of PVP servers.
I love this game and I think the devs managed to make a game that ticks lots of boxes for lots of people. I have three minor issues that I would like to see improved upon: - travelling with ressources between your castles - there should be an option to set up a fast travel route between your own castles. Otherwise the 2nd castle isn't a real option. Having to carry ressources back and fro isn't fun. - storage in your castle - especially if you choose a space to build with limited area because it was near important cave exits, you might not have that much space to build storage without making it look dumb. I think it'd be better to have one giant storage per castle that can be accessed via any chest, cabin etc and with auto-sorting feature for the different types of stuff. - servants - at first they are really cool but once you have them for a while it gets quickly tedious. They can't sort out their inventory on their own or improve their gear. It feels more like you need to serve them xD. But besides that - really cool piece of work. Fun to solo and koop.
Assuming you're playing solo pve like I am, you can just choose in the advanced server settings to uncheck the option to not be able to take resources with you through waygates to remove that first issue.
The % resource recovery on destroying old structures is a server setting, I found the game much more enjoyable when I set it to 100% for a playthrough with my friends. It sucks being punished for making a mistake while building or wanting to move something.
The tons of castle's all over the map is why, when starting on a new server, I just immediately went to the Dunley Farmlands, and built there. It was somewhat annoying making the trip down for the early game stuff, but with a horse its not too bad, and the benefit of being much closer to the midgame resources, felt very worth it, as the midgame takes much longer than early. Also, yes I was shocked by how much I enjoyed this game, as I also am not a fan of isometric cameras or vampires. I saw a trailer of it a while before it released and didn't think I'd care for it. But after actually playing I was proven very wrong.
So glad to see that you couldn’t just put the game down, i and I think a lot of others experienced it too. The game has a real charm to it. It is definitely one of my favourite games from the last decade or more. I want to try a PvP server but don’t want to play any more after 120+ hours on a PvE server, just in case I burn out (which I highly doubt)

Played for a couple of weeks as a solo. Solo'd the entire game on a moderately dead server, Currently gear score 81 (think its capp) Absolutely smashed out the hours for the first week. Current play time is 59.8 hours Great game, But... Not much replay-ability, Now the server i was on has been wiped and i really cant be arsed to do it all again :) So i doubt il play again for a while, That being said well worth the 60 hours i got out of it.
solo/duo pvp is amazing, the only downside is when they camp bosses, literally they spend hours waiting for someone to go and fight a boss to then jump and kill you.
@@bioshockz For sure i can imagine, more of a solo lurker though, as i got into my 30's my mates and myself got to many commitments to organize meet ups. Would have love to play this on PvP back in the good old days though
@@tbbants8118 yeah i had the same thing too, reached gear score 79 and only had the last 3 bosses world bosses to do, but strangely lost interest right around that time, maybe cuz i was solo i didnt rlly have anyone to enjoy the fights with

The game is great and I am not surprised that you liked it. It's one of the few games that I actually bothered setup my own server for friends to join whenever they want. The developers deserve all the praise and success and I hope they extend and build upon this game for many years to come.
to add to the comments here, This game is very much worth anyone's time. Its actually bad because of how good it is. You play it to oblivion until you've done all the content 2 or 3 times, each on different servers or pvp or full loot pvp. Thats what i did. held the shards for weeks on end, Discovered all the bugs ( jumping through walls with a frog, Building outside the map, ect ) But basically played it to the point where i was annoyed that i had played it. its too good but i want CONTENT NOW! not soon, NOW! its good, too good.
Great review. I'm happy to hear that people like this game. I've been a long time Stunlock Studios fan and I think this is their best game yet. You didn't talk about PvP at all, but it's a very good aspect of the game that can hook you all by itself. It's not perfect yet, raiding needs some work and the game requires some repeatable endgame, but PvP already has lots to offer. The biggest problem for PvP is probably that servers tend to die down and you come across way less players once you leave the starting zone. If they find ways to fix this there will be enormous replayability. For the time being you can join dedicated dueling servers with community made server plugins (like giving all gear or letting you insta rezz / heal to full after duels) or you can go on Hardcore Full Loot servers and just PvP for a day until the server dies off and gets reset eventually. SLS is pretty smart and I'm very excited for their future content updates. The game already feels great, but according to them it's not finished. So I'm curious to see what the game will look like when it fully releases.
Yea I'm going to agree with everything in this video. The game was extremely fun back when I first tried it out. I think the only thing I was kinda bugged by is that if you don't pick a decent spot to build your base, you kinda cucked yourself. OH and also if you play on your own save file and NOT online, then those npc's you can tame and send out on missions will take MONTHS of real time to actually complete their missions, depending on how long you no life the game for. I think what stopped me from continuing to play the game was the fact that over time I just kinda got bored. Not to say there's anything wrong with the game, it's just that after you've finished bossing, there's not much else here. This game is fun when you are a new player, but this game feels like a game that you can complete and then forget about afterwards. That's just my opinion tho.
The replayability all comes from PVP and raiding other players bases. The game borrows a lot from Rust, which is purely focused on servers that wipe frequently. That being said, even as a solo PVE game it's well worth the $20.

It's a cute game well worth it's money, but from a purely pve perspective I'm gonna stand by my original post. It's a solid 7/8 out of 10
For 2022, this has to be a stand out amongst pleasant surprises. Couldn't stop playing this till me and my buddy defeated last 3 hardest bosses. What a blast thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Do yourself a favor and play this!

For the few cons you listed I did come across a couple of youtube tutorials on how to make your own private server for this game for free so that you can restrict to friends only and avoid the rando griefing. When I saw the notification to the video a few days ago and I saw it had been instantly deleted, I was sure you were facing the same problem as me: acute addiction to this mindblowing early access game. :)
This game from start to finish is absolutely brilliant... one of the best survival games in the last few years. Endgame has an armor set that stops you from taking damage from the sun which is a nice achievement. [New content is coming in the next month or so which includes a two handed greatsword, pve invasions, castle floors, dracula and endgame, castle stories and leaning more into the horror vibe]
I just hit max item level, and have a few V bosses left to kill (~5). I absolutely fell into a chasm of obsession playing this game over the past 5 days. The progression is so smooth and interesting right up until the end (it did get *slightly* more grindy past L60). Boss fights are exceptional and interesting. The world feels alive and aside from being a little samey, is exceptional. Combat feels great with only a few exceptions, like the fire archer spam in Dunley Farmlands or Rifleman and Paladin/Clerics in Silverlight. This game is fantastic. I'm honestly a little sad that I blitzed through it so fast, because I want to keep playing, but have only a handful of objectives left to complete. I fear I'm going to drop it before the devs can add more meaningful content.
I def think the game is more fun in pvp. Full loot or not using the combat to fight another player is really fun and if you have friends raiding other can be a blast.
Fantastic review - the video perfectly demonstrates why V Rising has sold over 2 million copies in such a short period of time. I am thrilled that a game which took some significant design chances has done so well.
I had the same feeling about not really being a vampire guide, top down or survival and the game hooked me like crazy.... I even started RPing like a vampire its crazy well designed.
TLDR Fun game, imo could be more survivally. In PVE castles dont get raided, the sun damage is basically non-existent with how easy it is to dodge, and unless you REALLY mess up, normal mods aren't so bad to deal with. Bosses are awesome thou, and the crafting/minion system is top notch. Combat is smooth and it looks gorgeous.
One of my favorite games, it has been a great time running a server and can't wait to see what they add to it. We've killed all the bosses and are really looking forward to the future.

Loving the game. Just got my Dark Silver gear and my power set is so dope. Im excited to see what they do for the future. Power set i keep falling back to is Chaos Bolt, Unholy Dash and Unholy Shield.
Played about 60 hours on PVE server solo and this game is really fun, for an early access game it has a ton of content and it really makes me excited for full release. Bosses are fun and engaging and even mostly soloable so it is very solo friendly. Abilities and combat are compeling and being able to swap anything on the go is amazing, it feels like devs want to give a player a lot of freedom with how they play the game. The game, of course, needs some rebalancing as late game progression is a bit tedious with certain resources being used a lot while being scarce. Relocating your castle is a pain, it took me 3 hours just to move my castle to a new loaction and move all of my stuff and with 100% worker blood (increased speed) and a good horse, the running back and forth was plain boring. Overall the game is fantastic, even in its current stage and it can only get better.
Never played this, but I love how engaging it looks. A lot of ARPGs and MMOs get dull super quick. Although still a chance this can get dull quick, but looks promising! I love how it seems like you are always in danger, especially daytime.

My best friend and I just started playing a week ago today. Been having a blast on a duo pvp server. Have yet to really do any pvp since there’s only a few people on the server but we shall see. It’s really fun so far! The only problem I can see already is if there’s only 1 map and once you know everything and where everything is that it’ll get boring at end game.
Game looks pretty cool and fun, promising. Always wanted to play vampire. Was a vampire game on console which wanted to try. This game really fleshes out the fantasy of being a vampire, then sunlight, coffin, blood. Its very accurate which just make it more dope and refreshing. When you turned into wolf was just sick. Like how inovating it is. Hopefully it develops to something amazing.
It needs some frost themed weapon like a spellbook or an ice staff, and something like ice-version of castle building blocks so it makes sense to build in the snowy area. Yes as you can guess frost abilities are my fantasy :P
You've echoed my thoughts and experience completely. I was reluctant to buy this game for 3 reasons; 1. It's early access and I generally steer clear of that these days. 2. It's a vampire game, and I could care less about vampire lore, I've never gotten into that genre. 3. I generally dislike top down grungy looking games such as Diablo... yet with all this said, in my first week of buying the game I put 100+ hours in. I work full time. I literally stopped going to work to play this fucking game. It's the first game in years that has engaged me so much, and you've pin pointed exactly why with your pro's list. Generally, I'm the type of reviewer who likes to highlight negative features and help the devs improve the game, but I struggle to come up with much at all. So far, the most common suggestion I've seen is NPC raids against your bases, which I'd love a tier system for. For example, tier 1 could be a fire and pitchfork mob, tier 2 being a group of mercs hired to kill you, etc. My personal biggest complaint has come from the building aspect. Even though it's on a grid, sometimes you just can't get it right. Gravel paths seem to be completely broken... but honestly, who the fuck cares, because even the building is top quality, very reminiscent of the Sims. It's a phenomenal game at a great price, and I can't wait to see what they do with it considering it's in early access.

The PVP is really amazing and rarely feels unfair if you take the time to engage with all the systems. People say gear is too powerful; but at the end of the day most of your power comes from consumables which are accessible; and there are spells that you can time to "parry" or counter other player attacks and out-play them.
I will admit that raiding mechanics need some work (raid golems are very fragile), you can speed-run to end-game too quickly, and there isn't much to do at end-game which leads to server lifespans being less than a week before they wipe. Still insanely polished and a full experience for an early access game and I'm hopeful they will add more replayable content. However, this game is a PVP game made by a PVP/hero arena developer. I assume most of the development going forward will work towards extending the life of PVP servers.
I love this game and I think the devs managed to make a game that ticks lots of boxes for lots of people.
I have three minor issues that I would like to see improved upon:
- travelling with ressources between your castles - there should be an option to set up a fast travel route between your own castles. Otherwise the 2nd castle isn't a real option. Having to carry ressources back and fro isn't fun.
- storage in your castle - especially if you choose a space to build with limited area because it was near important cave exits, you might not have that much space to build storage without making it look dumb. I think it'd be better to have one giant storage per castle that can be accessed via any chest, cabin etc and with auto-sorting feature for the different types of stuff.
- servants - at first they are really cool but once you have them for a while it gets quickly tedious. They can't sort out their inventory on their own or improve their gear. It feels more like you need to serve them xD.
But besides that - really cool piece of work. Fun to solo and koop.

Keep in mind this game is PvP oriented. So a few of your complaints are there by design
Assuming you're playing solo pve like I am, you can just choose in the advanced server settings to uncheck the option to not be able to take resources with you through waygates to remove that first issue.

The % resource recovery on destroying old structures is a server setting, I found the game much more enjoyable when I set it to 100% for a playthrough with my friends. It sucks being punished for making a mistake while building or wanting to move something.
Moving stuff is free.
The tons of castle's all over the map is why, when starting on a new server, I just immediately went to the Dunley Farmlands, and built there. It was somewhat annoying making the trip down for the early game stuff, but with a horse its not too bad, and the benefit of being much closer to the midgame resources, felt very worth it, as the midgame takes much longer than early.
Also, yes I was shocked by how much I enjoyed this game, as I also am not a fan of isometric cameras or vampires. I saw a trailer of it a while before it released and didn't think I'd care for it. But after actually playing I was proven very wrong.
So glad to see that you couldn’t just put the game down, i and I think a lot of others experienced it too. The game has a real charm to it. It is definitely one of my favourite games from the last decade or more.
I want to try a PvP server but don’t want to play any more after 120+ hours on a PvE server, just in case I burn out (which I highly doubt)

This game got me addicted in a way that I haven't been to a game in a while, It was crazy how those simple but cool tasks kept me from sleeping.

Played for a couple of weeks as a solo.
Solo'd the entire game on a moderately dead server, Currently gear score 81 (think its capp)
Absolutely smashed out the hours for the first week.
Current play time is 59.8 hours
Great game, But... Not much replay-ability, Now the server i was on has been wiped and i really cant be arsed to do it all again :)
So i doubt il play again for a while, That being said well worth the 60 hours i got out of it.
solo/duo pvp is amazing, the only downside is when they camp bosses, literally they spend hours waiting for someone to go and fight a boss to then jump and kill you.
81 isnt the cap. 84 is. you missed some important pve content

to add to the comments here, This game is very much worth anyone's time. Its actually bad because of how good it is. You play it to oblivion until you've done all the content 2 or 3 times, each on different servers or pvp or full loot pvp. Thats what i did. held the shards for weeks on end, Discovered all the bugs ( jumping through walls with a frog, Building outside the map, ect ) But basically played it to the point where i was annoyed that i had played it. its too good but i want CONTENT NOW! not soon, NOW!

Great review. I'm happy to hear that people like this game. I've been a long time Stunlock Studios fan and I think this is their best game yet.
You didn't talk about PvP at all, but it's a very good aspect of the game that can hook you all by itself. It's not perfect yet, raiding needs some work and the game requires some repeatable endgame, but PvP already has lots to offer. The biggest problem for PvP is probably that servers tend to die down and you come across way less players once you leave the starting zone. If they find ways to fix this there will be enormous replayability.
For the time being you can join dedicated dueling servers with community made server plugins (like giving all gear or letting you insta rezz / heal to full after duels) or you can go on Hardcore Full Loot servers and just PvP for a day until the server dies off and gets reset eventually.
SLS is pretty smart and I'm very excited for their future content updates. The game already feels great, but according to them it's not finished. So I'm curious to see what the game will look like when it fully releases.
On a side note, the devs have also said there will be an update later this year with new content! I have also found this game highly addictive!

Yea I'm going to agree with everything in this video. The game was extremely fun back when I first tried it out. I think the only thing I was kinda bugged by is that if you don't pick a decent spot to build your base, you kinda cucked yourself. OH and also if you play on your own save file and NOT online, then those npc's you can tame and send out on missions will take MONTHS of real time to actually complete their missions, depending on how long you no life the game for.
I think what stopped me from continuing to play the game was the fact that over time I just kinda got bored. Not to say there's anything wrong with the game, it's just that after you've finished bossing, there's not much else here. This game is fun when you are a new player, but this game feels like a game that you can complete and then forget about afterwards.
That's just my opinion tho.
The replayability all comes from PVP and raiding other players bases. The game borrows a lot from Rust, which is purely focused on servers that wipe frequently.
That being said, even as a solo PVE game it's well worth the $20.

Personally I was playing pve just like peon was. It's a cute game well worth it's money, but from a purely pve perspective I'm gonna stand by my original post. It's a solid 7/8 out of 10
Playing the game with the camera mod brings this amazing game alive. I'd highly recommend trying it out.
For 2022, this has to be a stand out amongst pleasant surprises. Couldn't stop playing this till me and my buddy defeated last 3 hardest bosses. What a blast thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Do yourself a favor and play this!
Please make this a series on its full release man, this game looks so damm fun and engaging and I'm very tempted to pick it up after this great first impressions

This game from start to finish is absolutely brilliant... one of the best survival games in the last few years. Endgame has an armor set that stops you from taking damage from the sun which is a nice achievement. [New content is coming in the next month or so which includes a two handed greatsword, pve invasions, castle floors, dracula and endgame, castle stories and leaning more into the horror vibe]

An enjoyable gameplay you did
I just hit max item level, and have a few V bosses left to kill (~5). I absolutely fell into a chasm of obsession playing this game over the past 5 days. The progression is so smooth and interesting right up until the end (it did get *slightly* more grindy past L60). Boss fights are exceptional and interesting. The world feels alive and aside from being a little samey, is exceptional. Combat feels great with only a few exceptions, like the fire archer spam in Dunley Farmlands or Rifleman and Paladin/Clerics in Silverlight.
This game is fantastic. I'm honestly a little sad that I blitzed through it so fast, because I want to keep playing, but have only a handful of objectives left to complete. I fear I'm going to drop it before the devs can add more meaningful content.

I def think the game is more fun in pvp. Full loot or not using the combat to fight another player is really fun and if you have friends raiding other can be a blast.

I had the same feeling about not really being a vampire guide, top down or survival and the game hooked me like crazy.... I even started RPing like a vampire its crazy well designed.

TLDR Fun game, imo could be more survivally. In PVE castles dont get raided, the sun damage is basically non-existent with how easy it is to dodge, and unless you REALLY mess up, normal mods aren't so bad to deal with.
Bosses are awesome thou, and the crafting/minion system is top notch. Combat is smooth and it looks gorgeous.

Loving the game. Just got my Dark Silver gear and my power set is so dope. Im excited to see what they do for the future. Power set i keep falling back to is Chaos Bolt, Unholy Dash and Unholy Shield.
Played about 60 hours on PVE server solo and this game is really fun, for an early access game it has a ton of content and it really makes me excited for full release. Bosses are fun and engaging and even mostly soloable so it is very solo friendly. Abilities and combat are compeling and being able to swap anything on the go is amazing, it feels like devs want to give a player a lot of freedom with how they play the game. The game, of course, needs some rebalancing as late game progression is a bit tedious with certain resources being used a lot while being scarce. Relocating your castle is a pain, it took me 3 hours just to move my castle to a new loaction and move all of my stuff and with 100% worker blood (increased speed) and a good horse, the running back and forth was plain boring. Overall the game is fantastic, even in its current stage and it can only get better.

Never played this, but I love how engaging it looks. A lot of ARPGs and MMOs get dull super quick. Although still a chance this can get dull quick, but looks promising! I love how it seems like you are always in danger, especially daytime.

My best friend and I just started playing a week ago today. Been having a blast on a duo pvp server. Have yet to really do any pvp since there’s only a few people on the server but we shall see. It’s really fun so far! The only problem I can see already is if there’s only 1 map and once you know everything and where everything is that it’ll get boring at end game.
Game looks pretty cool and fun, promising. Always wanted to play vampire. Was a vampire game on console which wanted to try. This game really fleshes out the fantasy of being a vampire, then sunlight, coffin, blood. Its very accurate which just make it more dope and refreshing. When you turned into wolf was just sick. Like how inovating it is. Hopefully it develops to something amazing.
The BEST part about this game is... that it is only in early access.

It needs some frost themed weapon like a spellbook or an ice staff, and something like ice-version of castle building blocks so it makes sense to build in the snowy area. Yes as you can guess frost abilities are my fantasy :P

You've echoed my thoughts and experience completely. I was reluctant to buy this game for 3 reasons; 1. It's early access and I generally steer clear of that these days. 2. It's a vampire game, and I could care less about vampire lore, I've never gotten into that genre. 3. I generally dislike top down grungy looking games such as Diablo... yet with all this said, in my first week of buying the game I put 100+ hours in. I work full time. I literally stopped going to work to play this fucking game.
It's the first game in years that has engaged me so much, and you've pin pointed exactly why with your pro's list. Generally, I'm the type of reviewer who likes to highlight negative features and help the devs improve the game, but I struggle to come up with much at all. So far, the most common suggestion I've seen is NPC raids against your bases, which I'd love a tier system for. For example, tier 1 could be a fire and pitchfork mob, tier 2 being a group of mercs hired to kill you, etc.
My personal biggest complaint has come from the building aspect. Even though it's on a grid, sometimes you just can't get it right. Gravel paths seem to be completely broken... but honestly, who the fuck cares, because even the building is top quality, very reminiscent of the Sims. It's a phenomenal game at a great price, and I can't wait to see what they do with it considering it's in early access.

Tab opens your inventory so it'll just close your building menu. I'm at work so not at home to test it, but I usually press tab to get out of build mode.
