V Rising one of my favorite game releases in a decade. I love the progression, the mechanics, the cosmetics. It's just a truly special and wonderful experience from start top finish.
Every so often you get an early access game that is so incredible from day 1 and this is one them. Absolutely love this game, and it's amazing even in single player, which is what I prefer I might do another playthrough eventually, but for now I think I might wait for full release or the next big update
I hope they keep expanding this game. The Gloom update was far more than I expected and quite literally felt like a new face on a game I'd already played and made it even more enjoyable.
They have promised at least two more expansions. The next one will be 1.0 and they have strongly hinted that it will include Dracula himself, probably as the end-end boss.
@@Scurck I would be surprised if they did Dracula next tbh, I feel like their natural progression would take them to a wolf-man type boss and theme similar to how Adam was basically Frankenstein. Either way, it will be an awesome improvement, I'm sure.
The way the world interacts with itself is amazing. The hunters vs animal life vs undead in the early game, the bandits vs human soldiers in mid game, the "scientists" and soldiers vs the mutants near endgame. It is so incredible. And not only that, but the way each V Blood can fight each other depending on their alignment
Haven't watched the video yet, so maybe this is featured, but One of the best ways to get an early leg up on the bosses early is to get Meredith and Krig in the Haunted Iron might to fight each other. Krig is technically the weaker boss, but his attacks are usually better suited to take her down, so you get meredith for free, then finish off krig, even if you are underpowered.
in case you didn't see it, some bosses fight each other like the light archer in the mines fighting the other boss in the same area. this kind of stuff makes the game feel so alive and dynamic, even if it's few and far between.
It's been sometime since the last time I saw you enjoying and no-lifing a game this much, I haven't played it yet but after watching your journey I'm willing to give it a try!! As always thanks for the hard work Peon!
This is a game my friend convinced me to get the other day. After I convinced him to get enshrouded and having beaten it (what there is to beat so far) we moved on to this. So far I really am loving this game. The progression is fluid and easy to follow. The boss fights are unique, challenging and enjoyable. The castle building really is intuitive and a very neat aspect.
Great video and review. The end boss fight was baller and glad the whole fight was included given all the difficulty you had with it initially. Some signs of a good game when you realize you haven’t eaten and time is running away and you don’t evern realize it but your having fun.
Amazing vid as always, knew you will love the new update and was waiting for your update review and is well worth it since you really finished the game this time.
This is a well thought out review and I largely agree with everything you said as a player with 1000 hours in the game so far. Hope to see you in a PvP server one day with us especially to check out your wild ranged builds
Yo, the man, myth, and legend himself! Your early videos inspired my brother and I to push the limits of progression. Our personal record is downing Winged Horror in 9 hours of gameplay. You put out great stuff bud!
Probably the best review I have seen of this game! I am a solo player myself and it was great to see the progression from start to finish. I 100% agree on all your pros and cons of the game! I really agree on the point about the ability to change the server settings mid play through for solo as I had to end a few runs to tweak the game to how I wanted it. Thanks for the video and the hard work you put into it! 👍
If every update is as good as this one then I will be coming back to V Rising and replaying the whole thing every time. Gloomrot really just improved everything that was already in the game and added so many new great things to the game :D
13:20 just a quality of life, no need to travel in blood form anymore, when an enemy is above 90 they have a red mist/glow around them for easy identification of high % blood.
1:05:30 I actually really dislike games with difficulty options. I don't want to spent hours trying to find the right difficulty (if it even exists) so I normally just go with the hardest one. The problem is, that most games were not made with certain difficulties in mind, so harder ones can get really frustrating and unbalanced rather than be a fun challenge. Games like Elden Ring that are hard by default but can get much easier by using summons, different builds, exploration and if nothing helps grinding, are so much better in my opinion. They really let they player decide the difficulty while games with a difficulty option mostly don't.
I really love this game. It's fun and has a nice, relaxing atmosphere with good music. And some of the boss voicelines are hilarious. "What was the safe word again?"
Your first video you posted about this game got me absolutely hooked, I finished the game in 2 weeks. I took a break when I heard about Gloomrot coming out and as soon as I started up again I fell in love with it all over again. Definitely a game I can come back to every few months, start up a new world, try new abilities, new castle locations and still love it

First video of yours that I've watched, and I must say I whole-heartedly enjoy your style of reviewing games and look forward to watching other videos on your channel.
One of the aspects i like the most about V Rising is the enemy variety. There are no enemy re-skins/re-color with increased difficulty but same attack paterns. Every region bring in new fighting mechanisms that keep surprising us!

1 - I played the game on it's highest difficulty and it's been really fun and genuinely a different experience. You have no lee-way and have to play perfectly or else you get 1-2 shot. I went in and changed my settings to give my friends and I 1.5x damage than normal and the game feels about as hard as it should. 2 - You can actually change the server settings retroactively by directly modifying the notepad doc within your game-files. So you can change it on the fly, the game just provides no way to do it using it's own features unfortunately, probably to keep people that don't know what they're modifying from breaking their game. Great vid as always.
Hi, you said in your cons that you couldn't change the server settings once you had started. it IS actually possible : you can edit the json file called server settings. Hope it helps and thanks to support this wonderful game ;)
A friend recommended this game to me to get me to play it with them, I had never experienced the game before. I've been binging it on my own private server when not playing with them on a separate save, and it's great. Mainly been using the Slasher weapons you get from Bane, they make a lot of the mechanics a lot more tolerable as you'll pretty much drop agro for a few seconds with the E ability. I'm pushing through Silverlight Hills though with some difficulty.
wanna say this game is amazing, and hats off to u for attempting ungora the spider queen without a skeleton shield , which is basically the cheat code to that fight
You CAN change the settings of local servers but in the game save files downloaded on your drive. So while it isn't intentional, once you start a local game, you can adjust things like the bound/teleport which is what I ended up doing. It's turned off for PvP reasons so once I realized that, I edited the game files with no issues and it was so much better.
This game had the perfect learning curve for me, easy as you get the hang of it and then ramping up in such a satisfying way. Also, such a cool aesthetic, the look of the game has a lot of personality.
You can tell a lot of love whent into this game. It feels so polished and complete it's incredible. Shadows turn and lengthen, every boss is unique and increase in mechanical difficulty as you progress, it's very pretty to look at, spells are unique and you can pick whichever fits your playstyle. The depth is incredible for such a game at such a price, plus the DLC are only cosmetic so no pressure to use more money.
I dabbled with this when it first came out and decided to wait for full release, but you've really made me want to install it again. They've said the next update will take a year so I might just get stuck in.
Thanks for the update! One minor thing.. I felt like this could've been two videos. As someone who was curious about the Gloomrot update, it was probably too long to get through if I just wanted that. I probably would've watched both, but a 20-minute "what's new and latest review thoughts" would've been easier to consume to start and left the boss fight spoilers for another video.
Everytime i scroll through steam im always considering buying this because it looked more like a co-op game. Seeing how you handle it well and have fun solo, il give it a try. thanks
You don't need to start a fresh server if you want to change settings. When you open up your game, before starting your world you'll have a "Browse" button next to start server. That will take you to where a text file is located that is pretty well formatted so you can change whatever you want. (another way of doing it or if not all the settings are there - you can create a new server, just the way you want, then open that file - copy and open your original server - paste) Sure - a way of changing stuff with siders in-game would be nice, but I'm just letting people know that there is a way right now to do it.
The final boss fight was really exiting, I realised that when the boss health went down I was holding my breath in exitement and I shared your hapiness when he finally went down.
The truly best game to play is; hold a conversation with a guy and time how long it takes them to mention they "work out" or 'goto Gym". You get bonus points for how MANY times they say it. As for VRising. Looks like every other single player game with very linear progression.
I can say, my end game in this game is Dream Garden building. Farming all those seeds, spores and saplings, and thousands and thousands of plant fibers. Anyways, this is such an amazing review, and glad you are having/had fun with your journey. So long to another update! Hopefully! Subscribed and thumbs up for you!
I was always interested in this game but never gave it a chance. Going to give it a go now after seeing how much depth it has to offer. I'm not very good at these type of games but this seems like a good time to had cheer's!
They definitely ramped up the challenge as you come to the end of Act 2, mate. Most of these new bosses and later game bosses are quite hard to fight melee so I had to adapt and create my own build. I found the reaper/spell power build to be extremely effective as you have sustain from the spell leech, more damage, spell cdr and spell resets. The reaper E ability is a very nice mid ranged aoe that does heavy dmg adding another "spell" to throw out into the rotation. If mobs get too close you can knock them back with q which helps you save your dodge spell for important boss mechs. The build requires, at minimum, 95% scholar blood.
This game needs horde night. Have hordes of human raid your castle since you’re a vampire. Depending on where you live what humans class that raids you. Really no point if slaves if you’re playing solo
Great video, i haven't found the time to play this game yet but it's great to hear it is still being supported, although it was already worth its price

You don't need to start a fresh server if you want to change settings. When you open up your game, before starting your world you'll have a "Browse" button next to start server. That will take you to where a text file is located that is pretty well formatted so you can change whatever you want.
(another way of doing it or if not all the settings are there - you can create a new server, just the way you want, then open that file - copy and open your original server - paste)
Sure - a way of changing stuff with siders in-game would be nice, but I'm just letting people know that there is a way right now to do it.
the way Peon keeps saying "Oih" to everything xD i haven't noticed that before
You are able to change the settings of your local server, however you can only do this in the game files manually.
The PvP is great.
I can say, my end game in this game is Dream Garden building. Farming all those seeds, spores and saplings, and thousands and thousands of plant fibers. Anyways, this is such an amazing review, and glad you are having/had fun with your journey. So long to another update! Hopefully! Subscribed and thumbs up for you!
the dedication for this video!! respect!!
yeahh, surprice me
For the final farming montage, I muted the video and put on Eye of the Tiger 💯
I was always interested in this game but never gave it a chance. Going to give it a go now after seeing how much depth it has to offer. I'm not very good at these type of games but this seems like a good time to had cheer's!
Peon out there feeling the same way about the sun that I do when I have to go out under it.
1:05:00 actually .. there's a (settings-)json file and you can change all of the settings retrospectively
One of my top 5 game, this was a blast its like playing a triple A game but with progressions and survival.
Knowing Peon probably watched my Adam solo vid makes me happy.
Awesome kill. Definitely didnt think youd manage to do it with your chosen build
8:18 - 8:46 was a really nice edit. Good job Peon.
Great video, i haven't found the time to play this game yet but it's great to hear it is still being supported, although it was already worth its price
