Great video, even 7 years later! Huge help. Could you just leave off the splitter piece that you trimmed? Also, what did you use to cut trim the piece? It came out really nice.
Thank you. I am glad the video was helpful. I am not sure if it would be a problem to leave the splitter off. Because I didn’t know, I went ahead and modified it and put it back in. As for what I used to cut material from the splitter, I used a Dremel tool and file to smooth and level the trimming that I did. I hope that helps.
@@markandrewdavis Thanks so much! I just trimmed mine like you showed without even measuring since I think my intercooler (RPM) is the same or smaller than yours and it worked out great. This video was a life saver on this job. The whole thing about bending the bracket/bars in front of the IC was stellar...that vice trick was amazing.

Thanks for asking. I have no way to measure temperature or horsepower, so I am not sure. It takes a small bit longer to feel the turbo kick in. I suspect due to the increased capacity. When it comes in, you do feel it. My purpose was to not have a cracked intercooler again.
Do you know the part # of the top cover (the one you cut) and the bottom one (the one that goes attached to the braces) of the intercooler? I need to get them brand new but I dont know the names or part #
Thanks for watching and sorry to hear you got the crack too. I liked the stock intercooler better in terms of driving feel. I feel that the larger volume f the new one translates to a bit more lag in getting boost and then when you do, it punches in a bit harder. Good luck on your fix.

Did it improve boost temps or performance to horsepower or just an upgraded intercooler?

Plugs...clips. That's what they are called.
