Cossacks, oh cossacks, oh yes the cossacks...
...passed by in the morning a small village
They passed by, in the morning, a small village,
The girls went out with cheerful cossacks,
They passed by in the morning a small village,
The girls went out with cheerful cossacks,
Cossacks, oh cossacks, we're asking of you to come to our humble home,
    We’re inviting you, red soldiers!
Be our guests, we haven't seen each other for long,
Twenty years we have been waiting for you, finally we meet!
Be our guests, we haven't seen each other for long,
Twenty years we've been waiting for you, finally we meet!
And the cossacks, yes the cossacks, dashingly replied:
"Today we're going to battle, the horses are not tired.
We’re going to battle today, our cavalry swords are sharp.
We will be back, girls, dear sisters!”
We’re going to battle today, our cavalry swords are sharp.
We will be back, girls, dear sisters!”
Cossacks, oh cossacks, oh yes the cossacks...
...passed by in the morning a small village
They passed by, in the morning, a small village,
The girls went out with cheerful cossacks,
They passed by in the morning a small village,
The girls went out with cheerful cossacks!

Despiste the political topic that people associate the Red Army Choir.
Because in fact is was part of the propaganda arsenal.
There is no way that you cannot feel pump and motivated by this music.
Even though that if you do your research few of the best songs mention the communist party.
For me that I don't know russian at all, this music is pure art.
Only good music can do that.
Motivate, give you goosebumps and want to defend Moscow and you don't know why?!!!!

Unfortunately the politics is somehow inside that music. Or not the politics but the believe in some idea, or something like that. If you listen to Irish musics, for example the Rebels songs are way better than the loyalists ones. And in these communists songs you also feel something, some idea that is worth giving your life for.
There was a very popular song in my country, during the communist regime, created to celebrate Gagarin's flight to the space. It was mocked after the revolution as a arsekissing song, but if one listens to it, it's not. It was a spontaneous reaction of the orchestra members who heard the news about the first man in cosmos and they decided to celebrate it with a song. They locked themselves inside a room and within few hours they came up with this song, and within another few hours it was played in the radio. It was faster and more powerful than any propaganda could be and people loved it because it described their feelings. The believe in some idea, or some emotion behind the song creation gives it great power.

This type of this singing is typical Russian singing done by field workers or bakers, usually sung by women. They didn't have instruments in the field maybe an occasional treschotka or balalaika. So the women would sing at different notes at different times in order to fill in the blanks that the instrument would.

      @waszkreslem9306 4 года назад +7

Konev -> he was so incompetent that was nearly executed during the battle of Moscow. Thanks to the Shaposhnikov intervention he survived. Stalin ofc couldnt let Rokossowski to capture Berlin so he gave entire 1st Belarusian front to Zukov and 2nd Ukrainian to the Konev. Both did... well to put ot mildly "bad enough" causing unnecessesary civilian and military personel casualities. Unlike Rokosowski who was actually a brilliant tactician.

In the Wikipedia Cossacks are defined as “the militaristic communities of various ethnicities living in the steppe regions of Ukraine and also southern Russia.”
Described in a few words, Cossacks are free men or adventurerers. In fact, their name is derived from the Turkish Qasaq, which means exactly that.

@@josh420masterB yes most joined the white army. But The ukrainian "Free cossacks" led by Simon petliura, which sought for Ukrainian independent and opposed to Russian rule. The Ukrainian bolshevik "red cossacks" led by Vitaly Primakov were formed in 1918 after the don soviet republic was repressed by krasnov's white forces. There were also regular cossacks in red army, most in two cavalry armies. The 1st army led by old tsarist officer Semion budyouni and 2nd army led by a cossack revolutionary fillip Mironov. Officially, no more 20% cossacks supported lenin, most of them were soldiers or peasants and workers. The noble, rich and elite cossacks were against the bolsheviks. And the whites weren't united under name of the Tsar. They made up by various groups, opposed the bolsheviks and aided by the British. Some white leaders were Jewish : Aleksandr krivoshein.
