Metal roof and vinyl siding with vapor barrier tyvek etc.. before spending any money inside the home. New windows and doors then start interior, otherwise your throwing away time and money.
It's a blessing that you know what you're doing and the two of you work so well together. Imagine finding that 'tip of the iceberg' and not having the skills to fix it or patch it until budget allows repairs. It's so nice to see you still have a fun sense of humour through it all.
Guys i know this feeling all to well. Its one thing after the next. It makes it even more disheartening when your currently laying your head down at night in the area your working. Dont give up one thing at a time. Great job.
I have inherited a single wide. It has a metal roof over kit installed. The home is sitting on heavy, poured concrete runners and still on it's wheels. It's everything in between the roof and foundation that has me very concerned !.
You two are working really hard and doing the best you can!!!! You all couldn't find some type of under lay or Osb board to put outside to box the insulation in, and began putting vinyl siding instead of that metal siding outside. Do 1 side of the side per payday to fully waterproof the home. That siding is your only defense against the weather!! Your home looks nice inside like those newer mobile homes. It just serms like you all need to research exterior materials that you can put on that outter side under that metal siding or under new vinyl siding!!!!
You're bringing back a lot of memories from when we were a young married couple starting out. We had to fix up, make do, do it ourselves, all with very little and borrowed money. We got an old house from my parents on the farm and I built on 2 bedrooms and a living room when I was 21. We lived in that house for 45 years and raised our 3 kids there. We renovated and finally had the house in nice shape but a year ago we had a fire totally destroy our home, we lost everything but the clothes we were wearing. We are days away from moving into our new home, the one we always dreamed about. Good luck, do the best you can, hope things work out for you.
I "almost" feel guilty for laughing so much while watching this video! But "a merry heart does good like medicine". Angela you have a very pleasant laugh! Thank ya'll for being a Good example of how couples can work together to get big things done!...Looking forward to watching ya'll again!
My compliments to you both on your tenacity and creativity in meeting these home improvement challenges...not to mention your courage in sharing the journey with the rest of us. For anyone owning a home, we must all make choices about what and when to fix problems, and ALWAYS based upon resources available at the time. It's the reality most of us face. Cheers, Ardith
Goodness bless yall. My husband and i have been doing the same with our 100 year old house for the past year.. it is insane what you find when u peel the layers off.
Im just starting. The seller was quiet about a lot of things. Thank God for retired neighbors that took pictures of the whole fixer upper process. So far I had to get a new water well and now remove asbestos siding. New siding coming soon. Smh
I get so much enjoyment and feelings of satisfaction as I watch you - step by step - make this old mobile home into a HOME for your family! I also admire your ability to stick to the plan and not get sidetracked - something I have had trouble with all my life! Lord bless you!!
You two are adorable! Always love people who are handy, and ambitious! And thank you for sharing your talents with the rest of us. I am going to be tearing out the base cabinets of my 1983 mobile home; yes. I expect there to be some problems! Who can ever count on not *something* going wrong!!? Again, thanks!
My wife and I just finished replacing the floor in our kitchen in a house built in 1951. We have 1x8s running at 45 degree angle, then 3/4 inch ply wood, then four layers of floor covering. Couldn't get the floor covering off the plywood so we decided to replace it. They had three inch nails to hold the plywood to the sub flooring. I bent my crobar getting the plywood up. Got the new osb down, looked great, new tiles and we are very pleased. Watching you made my back ache again. You are doing great work, keep t up.
I've lived in a mobile home for about 16 years and have learned to make sure all outside repairs and mold are repaired and removed, before making the inside beautiful. Black insulation and rotten wood is not good. If you have mold in the wall no air purifier will make you safe inside. I had to spend 5k on my home for mold removal, then the repairs in the floors. Just make sure you make it safe for yourself and your family. Your family can have health problems from it. Just as a side note, my home didnt have much black mold but instead a white mold you couldn't see, just smell and after the mold testing the report said it was not safe for humans to inhabit, so be careful. I have enjoyed your remodel and have learned alot.
Man you guys are awesome. This is the first video I've looked at to help me repair my mobile home and I'm on a fixed income. I always count my blessings and today consider yourselves blessed with all my prayers 🙏. Thank you kindly
You are getting there. It may be hard at this point to see the light at the end of the tunnel but it is coming. I love how you both somehow retain your senses of humor even after a long 9 hour day. Good job and I can't wait to see what is next.
Absolutely LOVE your comments, such as "of course the battery is dead! Why wouldn't it be?" and "unless gravity reverses itself". You have my kind of sense of humor and I really enjoyed watching your video. Thank you for making it. I have a similar problem with a 25 year old mobile home I am trying to resurrect, and I am trying to find all the useful information I can get
I just love you guys. You work well together. I have a mobile home that needs repairs and your videos make me feel more confident in doing the work. Thank you so much.
Happy to keep watching you guys do things correctly! Some won't and don't! Always grateful to see you improving it! Stay blessed and keep it up! YOU GOT THIS!
As fellow trailer trash with an uneven kitchen floor that we suspect came from previous water issues, I appreciate the commitment it takes to rip it all up for replacement. Been in it two years and still don't have the courage to tackle it. Wife seems to be super helpful. I should show mine this video. Subbed.
Sensei Rich I have the same problem in my mobile home in the kitchen but my leak is coming from the roof, had a friend go up to look at it , it was a tiny rip in the roof. Glad I came across this in case a leak is on the side, never considered the side leaking.
YOU TWO BROUGHT A BIG SMILE TO MY FACE TO SEE THE TWO OF YOU WORKING SIDE BY SIDE ON YOUR PROJECT, ALSO WITH SMILES! YOU MADE MY DAY! I MISS THOSE DAYS WITH THE MISSUS!
Awesome work. Owned 1993 single wide new. I started in 94 with my preventive maintenance. I caulked, insulated, foam sprayed and checked for leaks all the time. Cool sealed the roof. Cleaned gutters. Washed and waxed the exterior aluminum siding. replaced and caulked exterior screws. Every six months I inspected and touched up seals and joints. Water is your worst enemy. Keep up the good work and remember constant maintenance and you won’t have to worry about a re-do. My heart is with you. You love you home just like I loved mine. It will last!
Making progress! Overall the rot doesn't seem to bad, I expected worse. It will be nice once all the new subfloor is down and the kitchen can start coming back together again. The bloopers are always hilarious, haha.
I THINK IS AWESOME THAT THE 2 OF YOU WORK TOGETHER, VERY NICE COUPLE. HOW FORTUNATE TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE . HONESTLY I ADMIRE HOW CALM AND COOL YOU KEEP WITH SUCH A BIG TASK, I WILL GO CRAZY !!
I used the spray flex seal on my car's sunroof. The drain channel goes from it to the floor of the trunk. It is supposed to drain onto the road, it gets clogged from stuff on the road. It kept the trunk full of water and then it started leaking into the car. It filled the headliner and started coming out at the windshield and the light fixtures. I came out after it had rained to find about 3 inches of water in the floor board. After I got the water out, I went to Lowe's and got a can of Flex Seal. I sprayed it on and just had to add another layer about every 3 months because of the sunlight. I hated that car so many things were wrong with it. It was an Oldsmobile Aurora, 2001, it's a GM. All that wasn't as bad as the fact that it accelerated on it's own, either when you started so you had to turn it off and on until it stopped, or while you were driving it would do it. GM didn't want to talk to me. I don't have it anymore, I sent it to the junkyard so no one else would be almost killed by it.
Great videos...i enjoy watching you do the same things I've done to my homes throughout my 67 years, without the verbal frustrations I've shared. Your videos are so good I want to drive over and lend you a hand!!
Y'all r troopers!! I laughed so much!! Ur addressing it n it will b so worth it when it's done ... Angela I just love ur facial expressions ... Reminds me so much of me 😂😂😂😂
I love ❤️ that you both have such a good sense of humor. That's really important to have when doing a renovation. Keep up the great 👍 work. Look forward to your next video.
Love watching you two work together......love the banter and keeping a good attitude while finding disappointment that we know is there but we hope it isn't. Been there and done that ourselves. So as you do we just power thru it knowing the best is yet to be. Good working together and good judgement calls. I am really enjoying watching you and team work makes the dream work. It's always nice to have a helping hand and someone who wants to learn and make it better as well. Great team work! Blessings
I reframed my windows to fit a common size window that Lowe's carries. They are vinyl dual pane and far better than mobile home windows. I also have replaced all exterior screws with the hex head neoprene washer screws. You would not believe how much water is entering your house around those rusted exterior screws. Our $600 hardwood floor project turned into a $2,000 rebuild. 😂😂😂
Congratulations to you both! You show us how to make quick fixes to problem areas when money is tight. Can't wait to see how makeovers progress when money is more plentiful. Word of caution, don't let that mold wait too long.
I think you're doing a great job of explaining things, and also staying focused on the big issues at hand. It must be really tempting to go crazy when repairing, but then the old fixer-upper would all be taken apart!
Great job guys. I know how it is to have to wait for financial reasons. It sux but just keep your heads up. It will come in due time. Y’all are an inspiration to me. Thank you. JB
I know its hard not to move ahead, when you see the area of rot and know it needs fixed.. but, I have no doubt, the two of you will get there.. Great job you two..
I admire your ability to find short-term solutions to long-term problems. That's all life allows some times. Being able to identify the problem is the most important part - how you address it now, know a future solution will allow you to cross the finish line, is what matters. You can't make it back to to shore if you can't figure out how to keep your head above water right now -
I don’t comment often, but I just love watching your videos. Our beloved mobile homes have their unique issues, don’t they?!? I so admire you two for being able to do your own work. I really enjoy your channel so much; thank you for sharing your journey with us!! ♥️
Very informative and you explained it how the average person can understand. I like the humor you all interjected and your sons photo bomb on previous video where he was eating chips in the ladder I literally LOL.
You're getting there guys! Maybe not as fast or as easy as you had hoped but just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you'll get there. You're doing good work and the improvements will really pay off. Just hang in there!
I had to come back and find this video and re-watch it. I'll be dealing with these rotten board problems on my exterior wall in a few months. I knew this video was last year, and I watched you finish the floor, the kitchen (which looks marvelous by the way) and the greenhouse and mower shed, etc... but I can't remember if you redid the wall supports outside. If so I can't find the video. I wanted to tell you that you guys always make my heart smile, you say some of the funniest things and are always upbeat and real. I wish you guys were closeby so I could come over and help you and we could be friends but Texas is a long way from where you are. Stay safe and wanted to tell you that you are appreciated more than you know. :::::waving from Texas:::::
Thanks for allowing us to follow- you got it , if it ain’t broke don’t fix it ! Don’t worry about responding, you guys are so busy!! Love the bloopers! Lol😂😂
It's frustrating at times when you're trying so hard to make improvements to a home. Keep your goal in mind and visualize the end result. You guys are doing great.
Uuug...more water damage! It seems never-ending doesn't it? With Flex spray and the flashing tape that leak should be gone until you have time and money to attack it from the outside. The air filter in your room is important until you get it cleaned up permanently. Over 40 yrs ago, when Pop set up his mobile, he built a pole building over the whole thing with enough overhang to put a deck around two sides. I thought it was overkill at the time...not so sure now. Although we've had to replace a bathroom floor, kitchen floor and, the granddaughter's bedroom floor in the front, is getting iffy. All caused by plumbing leaks....so it's wonderful you're addressing the plumbing now. One step at a time and you'll have a nice, safe, solid home for years to come! You two work so well together. I love watching you :)
You two are amazing! I’ve been following y’all recently and you two give me hope that my husband and I can start to redo our double wide soon. And not kill each other.🤣 it’s a 1999 palm harbor and I want new windows, rip out carpeting and lay new flooring and get out the bathrooms and kitchen.
Just found Y'all..... great job on being detailed on what your doing and why. I have started following you because my husband and I are about to start on the same kind of adventure your on! Saying a prayer for y'all....
Great job! I think you guys are going about this reno the right way. It is really easy for a renovation to get out of hand. Your costs could skyrocket if you try to fix every little thing you find when you find it. Like you said slow and easy, you can always just do temporary fixes and come back to it later. At least you will have a better idea of what still needs to be done when you are able to spend the time and money to make more permanent repairs. IMO you are doing a service to the community by showing everyone it is ok to do what you can as you can and not get in over your heads. Make sure to check out your foundation, joists and "Bones" before adding too much more weight. It will save you a ton of heartache down the road. Thanks for sharing!
I really like to think that you guys are showing me cuz I'm thinking about buying my own trailer for the first time and I have seen one trailer already that needs some work but I didn't get to buy that one nobody would help us with the funding we're living in a hotel right now and we're wanting to get out so that's why I'm thinking about trailer a lot cheaper than buying a house so I like the roof one that you did and now you're showing me things that need also need to be addressed and hopefully with everything with you with the root roof one that you did you showed me on how to do the windows and you guys are really helping me out a lot please don't stop the videos you're teaching somebody thank you
I never was to impressed with mobile homes and the way they were constructed over stick built homes, but after watching your journey and some others coupled with my dream of owning and rebuilding/remodeling a home I'm not eliminating a mobile from my mind as I am confident I can make it better and stronger than before. I love building and doing electrical and plumbing and hope to use those skills in the future on my own home whether it be stick built or a mobile.
One thing that really works to kill the bees and wasps is to spray them with a can of Brake Clean. That stuff kills them quicker than any bee spray I can find out now.
Hi Sam and Angela. Great videos. I commend you for doing what it takes to make your home better without going overboard now. I'm sure it was hard to limit your repairs. I've been down that road myself. It takes lots of will power to stay conservative. I've been jumping around from your woodworking videos to homestead videos. I like the way you present things. You don't try to comeoff like a know it all which I appreciate. I'm from Kelowna BC Canada. Bye for now.
Thanks again for a informative and entertaining video. I especially enjoy your attitudes during the demolition. The way you two can remain so upbeat when you encounter setbacks. God bless you both. Art in CA
In spite of everything else you're lucky to have a removable section in the wall that gives you the access you need to do that. Best of luck guys, I think i'm convinced to cut an access band all around my place to be able to do the same thing.
Aww, Bless your hearts 💕Y’all worked SO hard today . Don’t let yourselves get to feeling overwhelmed.... just work one priority at a time. And congratulate yourself for each one ! ( even if it’s a temporary fix to be redone in the future with a bigger budget). Each thing done is a step forward ! When you rest up some- you’ll even get “taller” 😳🤣. 😘😘❤️
You two have such a cute little family. I like watching you work together fixing up your home. Before we had to sell our home 5 years ago and move to a rental in town I was always doing little and sometimes big jobs to fix up our home. I really miss having my own home so I can do my own thing to make it mine. I can't wait to see how your kitchen and dining room turns out!
So happy to have found y'alls channel. Bough mobile home from 90s with not disclosed but assumed many patches and needed work. Biggest is the floor, sooo many floor mini sinks. Big job ahead but y'all give us hope on getting it done a little bit at a time.
Hoping you got the water leak fixed good enough to stop any further damage. Get rid ccx of all the mold and make your home safe for you and your family. God bless.
Wow. Are you going to replace the insulation in the walls. I didn't realize there was no wood between the metal siding and the insulation. Love your show. Great job.
Pex is good stuff.. my traditional home had galvanized pipe that was in terrible shape. I was able to re-pipe it myself in about a week with Pex. I did the band clamps and not the shark bite fittings. It's been 3 years now and everything works great.
You Two are doing a great job I don’t know what You Two do for a living but You are doing Great here When You replace the insulation and removed the old I couldn’t believe what I saw. Palm Harbor Homes put aluminum siding on Your home and attached them to 1x6 slated every 2 or 3 feet and the insulation right up against it We repaired a single wide that had floor and wall damage from those leaky Mobil home windows Our Mobile home had OSB over the wall studs and then vinyl siding over that No moisture barrier between the siding and the vinyl OSB for almost the entire length had water damage I had Our Guy pull the entire side down to the studs and remove the windows We were lucky the only place We had drywall damage was beside the main door where the roof leaked. He replaced all the OSB and then I asked Him to install roofing paper over the OSB to act as a moisture barrier Watching You cut and replace floor boards with minimal gaps made mine look like a blind person with the shakes cut my plywood Thanks I went back today and You inspired this 68 year old to a better job Thank You

i hope who ever sold you that mobile home sold it to you at a low low price .
I am shocked there is no play wood on the side wall. Just remove aluminum siding and see inside home
We used vinegar for mold
Mobile homes are a pandora's box, you have no idea what's going in inside your walls until you open them up...
Metal roof and vinyl siding with vapor barrier tyvek etc.. before spending any money inside the home. New windows and doors then start interior, otherwise your throwing away time and money.
You two are a cute couple. Love the way she looks at you with admiration. Good wife... which means you're a good husband and father. Respect.

Love the video, my wife and I have lived in a 16x80 for 20 years now and still have stuff to fix... a new metal roof over shingles is next for us!
Must be in the air! That’s our current project right now-new roof over. It’s a big job!

You two are doing great. I wouldn't know where to begin with a reno. I'm learning so much. Thank you for this series.
You already started by watching this! You know more about mobile homes than 99% of people already!
You guys have the perfect attitude for work; you make heavy tasks look like pastimes! Hope by now your place is a mansion.
Congratulations to you both! You show us how to make quick fixes to problem areas when money is tight. Can't wait to see how makeovers progress when money is more plentiful. Word of caution, don't let that mold wait too long.
You all do great work. It's a great help for some of us that needs to know how things work. Thanks so much. Very helpful indeed.
I think you're doing a great job of explaining things, and also staying focused on the big issues at hand. It must be really tempting to go crazy when repairing, but then the old fixer-upper would all be taken apart!
I like what i see. THere is only few more other things more beautiful then seeing a man and a woman working 2gether and doing a great job!
Bravo!
Patience and hard work! You two are great together! It will all work out because you are a great team.
You guys are hard workers I can tell. You are going to have a nice home.
"I'm too tired to be tall ", the quote of the year ! Greetings from Brisbane ,Australia by the way.
Awesome to have you here!
Seems Like Ya'll are a "Good Combination"! Both of You get along together very good!
It's fun watching you two!
Your house looks fantastic
Quality workmanship and designer planning
Keep on , keeping on. Renos are a challenge but worth it.
You guys are great! Im watching and learning so much! I love Angela's serious face!
I come here for the out takes... LOL I love it. We all do it!
You all are right at it...good luck and enjoy when done.
You all are a great couple, and did a excellent job communicating every step. Well done video, Best of luck with all you do, God bless
Keep plugging away at it. Your doing a great job!!
Angela says I want my kitchen back!! yet so understanding, You two are great sorry about the rot, yet it happens at least you know it's there.
You should add some housewrap on there before closing it up 🙂
Just found Y'all..... great job on being detailed on what your doing and why.
Good job on your flooring and wall repairs, turned out nice !! 👍
looking good what you have done so far - just keep going - loving your vlogs
I really like to think that you guys are showing me cuz I'm thinking about buying my own trailer for the first time and I have seen one trailer already that needs some work but I didn't get to buy that one nobody would help us with the funding we're living in a hotel right now and we're wanting to get out so that's why I'm thinking about trailer a lot cheaper than buying a house so I like the roof one that you did and now you're showing me things that need also need to be addressed and hopefully with everything with you with the root roof one that you did you showed me on how to do the windows and you guys are really helping me out a lot please don't stop the videos you're teaching somebody thank you
“I’m too tired to be taller”. You two are a great team. 🧡💕💛
Love watching I'm remodeling my double wide by my self
Awesome!
Yeah, they're not ideal for sure, but have potential for being made nice!
I love how you guys can work together and getter done
Y’all are a great couple. You have a strong capable wife. You are blessed!
One thing that really works to kill the bees and wasps is to spray them with a can of Brake Clean. That stuff kills them quicker than any bee spray I can find out now.
WD-40 is the best wasp and bee spray and not as toxic to your liver due to rate of absorption thru skin. Brake cleaner is bad stuff
I’m new to this channel and find it very informative. I live in NC and stink bugs have taken over!! I can’t even enjoy our beautiful deck!!!
I like how you hold the drill on your shoulder. We can understand how you can start a small repair and it grows and grows.
I know that must be a bit frustrating having to wait to fix some things, but it will get done eventually. The main thing is that your making progress.
Flex seal is garbage, so happy to see you put the tape stuff over it!
You got this! :) If we can do it, anyone can!
Great job.
Good job I could watch you all day 👍
You guys are really an awesome team.
I enjoy watching your videos even the old ones
Pex is good stuff.. my traditional home had galvanized pipe that was in terrible shape. I was able to re-pipe it myself in about a week with Pex. I did the band clamps and not the shark bite fittings. It's been 3 years now and everything works great.
You Two are doing a great job
I don’t know what You Two do for a living but You are doing Great here
When You replace the insulation and removed the old I couldn’t believe what I saw.
Palm Harbor Homes put aluminum siding on Your home and attached them to 1x6 slated every 2 or 3 feet and the insulation right up against it
We repaired a single wide that had floor and wall damage from those leaky Mobil home windows
Our Mobile home had OSB over the wall studs and then vinyl siding over that
No moisture barrier between the siding and the vinyl
OSB for almost the entire length had water damage
I had Our Guy pull the entire side down to the studs and remove the windows
We were lucky the only place We had drywall damage was beside the main door where the roof leaked.
He replaced all the OSB and then I asked Him to install roofing paper over the OSB to act as a moisture barrier
Watching You cut and replace floor boards with minimal gaps made mine look like a blind person with the shakes cut my plywood
Thanks
I went back today and You inspired this 68 year old to a better job
Thank You
You guys are great! Prayers that this was finished well and life is good! Prayers to y’all. Jeremy from Oklahoma
