I don't get this. Every location of interest in every Bethesda game was segmented by loading screens. Every house/cave/town/city/dungeon etc. This game is no different but people are losing their minds over it.
You can go from a planet's surface to a specific location on another planet in another system in a single loading screen if you want to.

They were all connected by an outer world map you could explore in control of your character.

@@emarskineel Because No Man's Sky demonstrated that you COULD do seamless spaceflight. Elite Dangerous did it too. If Bethesda released Skyrim today, the game would get smashed with negative reviews because the standard has shifted from needing loading screens at every door to needing them basically never.
Hell, Subnautica (another indie game), managed a densely packed open world RPG experience with basically zero hard loading screens. Using a teleporter is a loading screen, but they don't show up until the end of the game.

@@emarskineel Because you didn't have to fast travel. In Skyrim you couldn't fast travel to the next city, instead you had to walk there and while walking there you could run into interesting things. You would see ruins on the side of the road that led to new quests and interesting experiences. NPCs would walk up to you and say interesting things. If you found a Dragon Wall it could be guarded by some kind of interesting monster, or bandit, or dragon, or undead. It made you feel like you were really there and unexpected things could happen to you. In Starfield, you fast travel to a planet from a menu, nothing unexpected happens. Maybe you fight a few pirates. Then you fast travel to near your destination. Planet is procedurally generated so there's nothing interesting to find there outside of the one place you intended to go. If you go to a temple, there is no one guarding it at all. There is no exploration, no discovery, no sense of wonder.

@@emarskineel The issue is that it's not 2001 anymore. What was acceptable decades ago isn't always acceptable today. Other games manage this and people have experienced how much better the game is if there isn't a static image of a sweet roll every 15 to 30 seconds of gameplay, so they're no longer willing to shrug it off.

Some enemies are undeniably bullet sponges. Depending on difficulty they aren't so bad. But you get better loot on very hard and grinding for loot is one of the only things keeping some people hooked. So for most people bullet sponge enemies is a problem, and trying to dismiss it by saying 'headshots' isn't a good argument at all. You might as well say ' bro grind out all relevant crit skills and weapon skills, then craft top tier mods on a strong weapon with good perks on it and shoot enemies in the head and then you won't have a problem with bullet sponge enemies.' None of that changes the fact that some enemies are bullet sponges.

Bethesda have never have the ability to "write" anything. I don't know how Starfield starts out, but in every other game you are eitehr in prison, about to go to prison, going to be executed at prison and then "something" happens where only you survive and you are now chosen to do something that once you are done doing that thing...nothing happens and no one cares. They follow the 1990s Doom trope of the "lone survivor" storyline, which was extremely common for FPS games. Bethesda and its "writers" are still in 1994.

That's a real experience of bethesda games. count how many loading screens that was. also don't forget that load times are tide to frame rate, but if you uncap it to load faster it breaks the physics and ai of some NPCs unless you slap a mod that fixes it. and even after that load times will be around 20-40 seconds if your PC is good. on mid to low end devices it can take anywhere up to 2 minutes. hell the pop-ins are also a concern that can break the game. I had a character in full legendary gear that increases your movement speed. I sprinted along the river towards the Diamond City and suddenly find myself stuck in some stairs. You can't travel seamlessly between the split worlds in Starfield. They aren't one huge handcrafted open world. They are "tiles", split worlds that are not connected to each other and that can't be traversed seamlessly. Most of them are also pretty empty. I explored one such "tile" on one of the procedurally generated planets, and there were only 2 POI on it. 2. And the whole area was probably almost as big as Skyrims whole map. It was a barren rocky wasteland with just 2 POI on such a huge map. Exploration clearly wasn't the focus in this game. Those planets just exist for resource grinding. That's not why I play BGS games. Their games always were famous for exploration. Roam around the open world and explore one POI after the other. Totally forget about your current quest objective, because you just came across a cave. Or a camp. Or a ruin. And you want to explore it. And the one after it. And at some point hours have passed and you suddenly remember there was a quest you had to do. Thats not happening in Starfield.

This is why I have no intent of leaving star citizen for this dumpster garbage.
In star citizen there are no loading screens, everything is seamless, and that includes a hyperspace jump. When you jump, you're just flying at very high speed. No other game has that. They either put a loading screen or switch into another mode for a jump. Planets are super detailed and you can walk, drive, fly around them as far as you like (no invisible walls).
All in all, star citizen is better in ever f'n way & mainly it's not a grind game. You can grind if you want to, but it doesn't make you more powerful. It's a true skill based multiplayer open world sandbox that's constantly evolving as devs intend to work on it forever.
