To me this sounded similar but not quite like them. You’re close, but not quite there

As a 3 month tool fan, I say this sounds like guitar pro compared to real deal.
If you want to get tool sound you buy a delay, flanger, some decent drive, marshall tube head paired with bass cabinet, expensive cords and tons of strings packs. Don’t forget Fender or Gibson instruments.
My Fender strat sounds even better than Adams les paul, it’s a lil bit more raw and menacing. For Justin’s tone Jazz Bass works fine, the trick is fresh strings every 30 minutes, as you mentioned
Also playing exclusively in Drop D for a few years wont hurt

A few klons as a buffer wouldn’t hurt

@@OLIVERZASLEEP You don't need the fender or the gibson. I wouldn't go chibson though lol. I get killer tool tone out of a preset I built on my Helix floor using delay and a nice reverb.

oh yeah i think u dont understand how this works, look again the video, i think its great :) And If u really still think u just need a few pedals and a marshall amp to get Adam jones tone then u probably are a beginner.

@@luigicosenza1310 Adam Jones tone is quite simple. It sounds amazing but besides the synthy stuff it is pretty straight forward. Wah, flanger and a delay. I love tool been playing guitar for 30 years. H e does use a talk box and other synth stuff but like I said the straight guitar tone is surprisingly simple.

I've actually gotten really close to Jones' tone using a Fender knock-off back in the day. I had a hard drive failure so I lost most of the mixer presets, but I'm trying my best to reconstruct them. All the VSTs were free save Guitar Rig 5 which was exclusively for the gate and noise reduction (bad electronics in the guitar). I did use a Diezel VH4 clone and a Marshall clone, but I had to do a TON of EQing, including directly on the IRs (through Fl Studio's Convolver). Basically used one input channel into two reamplification channels, into an effects send, and then back out. It took years. I really hope I can get all that work back.
