I love that you're so down to earth and articulate. This is pretty much how I save for vacations. Unfortunately my income does not allow me to travel, contribute to retirement, and buy luxury purses (first world problems), but I enjoy watching these videos and living vicariously through you all. For me, right now in my life, the enjoyment I get from seeing the world is the priority. I work for a non profit and I do love my job, though it may never provide me a luxurious lifestyle.
+JessieBanana Thank you for your lovely comment! Travel is a fantastic way to spend your money - I traveled a lot as a child so I feel like I got it out of my system a bit, otherwise that's absolutely how I would be spending my money now! Material things are just that - it's the experiences and memories that you create that are the most important thing :) xx
I agree with all the comments here! Working for a non profit is better than a luxury bag. It'll earn you way more respect than double C's ever will! Keep up the good work! 👏👏
Not having my hair cut/coloured/blow dried for over a year saves me hundreds. It is one length waist length. I also dont drink/smoke go out partying.I buy my food in Aldi now and save over £25 a week doing that compared to Tesco. I am allmost there having saved for a chanel handbag. But my partner thinks im mad and wasteful.I am buying one regardless.
Yes!! Yes to everything here! Sometimes I feel like people judge me because of my bag purchases-and I just want to say "honey it's all about smart money management-I paid off my car, student loans and other essentials first!" And I always keep that larger goal in mind when that $30 pair of shoes catches my eye or that fancy Starbucks drink! Plus I make my lunch everyday! Ha ok. I'm done. Great tips. Subbing!
Despite this video's title, your tips are very pragmatic. In fact, what you shared are general life tips vis-a-vis financial goals. I agree with everything you said, especially being picky, creating separate "savings" account, knowing your priorities. I am a heavy shopper too but I use my luxury purchases like a "dangling carrot" tied up to my personal goals. For example, weight loss goal= next dream bag. I keep up with exercise and healthy diet and save up on the side to motivate me.
I felt this is more like managing ur money video than affording a chanel. I really like this video nd it is exactly like my mindset nd it all makes sense!!!
Thank you for the amazing advice! :) During my first year at uni this was exactly how I saved up for my first Chanel bag - a mini classic flap in black and lambskin, which still remains my most loved possession to this day
Thank you so much for keeping it real for all of us who are into luxury handbags. It's so easy for us viewers to look at Hermes, Chanel, Celine reviews/what's in my bag/unboxing/etc. that we hardly see nor hear what these ladies do behind the scene (cooking at home more, looking out for coupons, buying on the sale items at grocery stores, etc.) to make these purchases happen. I'm starting my own luxury handbag collection and I find that budgeting and prioritizing is a challenge but as long as I keep watching these videos as motivations, I too, will continue to build my own collection! Thanks again!
I've watched several youtubers address this topic, but this was the best one! I LOVE your idea of only spending on the "extras" for a short period each month. It's a great way to decide what really matters, if it's important enough to you, there's always next month. I'd love to see some videos on your handbag/closet clean out, whenever you decide to do that. Might help motivate me to do the same! :)
+rishstsa Thank you so much for your sweet comment! That's seriously so nice of you to say so! That really is a 'system' that works for me because it's still fun (i.e. window shopping and wishlist building for 3 weeks!) but also doesn't make you go broke haha. Great idea for a video on a wardrobe clear-out! I might start planning that one for January! :) xx
Fantastic tips, this is what people should be thought in school! I will definitely be applying most of these tips to help me manage my money from now on. Thank you so much.
I love this video and the way you are always so positive and find ways of looking at life in a good way. I found your channel by accident and I'm hooked. I also love the fact that you are a YTber with a good work and education. YT needs better role models IMO. Have s gear day!
Love these tips--especially naming fund specifically. I had been saving for a boy bag, but putting all of that money towards grad school now. A year from now when I have (hopefully) a better job and an advanced degree, I'm restarting that fund for sure!
True! If a woman manage to have just a decent job after graduating and not having kids for several years I think she’ll be able to save up for a chanel!
Just found your channel as I'm planning my first investment bag purchase. Your tips are brilliant! You are very intelligent and your advice is solid. My grandfather was a CFO for a Fortune 500 company and he taught me a lot about finance. He always told me "it's not how much you make, it's how much you save". Great video- glad I found your channel and subscribed 👌🏼
Thank you so much on the advice, not only has it come in handy for saving for a new bag but also life savings. A little always goes a long way and it's just up to the person to prioritize their lifestyle. Great advice doll! 😊
Thanks Amie for another great video! I love your tips - especially the one about having multiple savings accounts, as opposed to just a single. It's one of those things that seems so logical, but for some reason you never think about actually doing it. I'm so glad you suggested it, because I wouldn't have thought about it otherwise. Can't wait for your next videos! Sending you all the warmest wishes from LA! xx
You never sound preachy. I’m sorry you even have think that someone would be so rude as to share that kind of opinion with you. Anyway, thanks for all the great tips, they are very helpful. I have a question about an old Gucci canvas bag which I love too much to stop wearing. The canvas is in great shape, as are the leather corners. The piping though, is staining the canvas where they touch. Do you know of anything I can do about that? I also have a small Gucci fabric bag (Jackie?), and one of the joins of fabric pieces has torn. The place is in a tricky corner-type place and I can’t see how it could be sewn. There’s too much stress on it to glue it. Have you any ideas for this problem? The bag is perfect otherwise, and is another favorite. Thanks!
Very usefull and practical tips. For me, it is one of the most useful videos on RUclips on bags and spending. I 've decided to become your fan. Love, love, love.
Great tips Amie! I really appreciate you making this video to help others about money. I do agree with you about easily getting swept away in getting luxury items if you are not mindful about how to spend your money. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
You simply said it, " you are a bag lover"! Good luck! Nowadays, life is just so hard, we need to be practical, I would rather save my money for the rainy days, You are so lucky to have a lot of extra money....good on you! In my own opinion, it is not practical.....
I do the separate savings accounts too. Easy way not to spend your money on other things. And I agree pre-loved is an awesome way to go to save some money. My collection is also about 50% pre-loved.
Thank you Amie! Love this video! I really want to have a Chanel bag someday, hopefully your tips will help me to achieve it! I agree with you on what really happiness is all about. I am thankful for what I have, mostly speaking of non monetary things but I also enjoy nice and pretty items. Thanks again!
+DafneHola So glad you enjoyed it! Absolutely - having nice things is always fun but there is of course so much more to life! Striking a balance between the two is the ideal :) xx
This is kind of a novel tip I picked up: For seasons like Christmas or Easter, for example, if you're looking to buy Christmas cards or novelty bunny ears, buy them off season. I can purchase last season's Christmas cards in the summer and will get about 10 cards for a dollar and ten cents. At certain dollar stores, you can get good deals too but the line up is long and sometimes they're out of stock. And I also asked for a pair of bunny ears in February (I had a project that required bunny ears but couldn't find any until I asked the clerk if they have any in stock in the back office and was able to get 2 bunnies at a dollar each). This works great for Valentine's day cards, for little kids, if you're a parent. I will buy Vday cards the day after feb. fourteen, and save it for next year. For purchases like a car, I intend to buy it around boxing day or used. The other thing I don't do is do presents exchange with my family and certain friends (not everyone).... we sometimes wait til the day after christmas when everything is on sale and buy presents then and do exchanges. Certain consumer reports will also list months of when it's a good time to buy a laptop, GPS, TV, etc. It's also good to have abundance mentality...there's always going to be sales and someone looking to exchange their products for your money. :P Having said that...the older i get, i find the less i want in terms of quantity. I prefer connecting with people more.
Me, too! I also try to buy extremely versatile wrapping paper so I can use it for all occasions! I also noticed people who afford expensive handbags are usually good with money.
This is a great video~ I like your idea. My trick to deal with the marketing emails is to put them all in the junk mail. When I fall in love of something, I go the junk mailbox and then I always find deals.
Awesome tips ! love the quote you had watched from lipstick jungle. would definitely keep that in mind when I purchase stuffs !! Had always been someone who just purchased things because I can afford but I never had thought whether should I purchase em'.
Thank you very much for your tips, especially the one for naming the account saving for what we want. I’m definitely going to open a saving account and name it Chanel WOC :) It will keep me focused!
I really like the idea of making a "wish list" for next pay period. I always buy stuff and then later regretting it because I rather have this other item instead. I am going to do that!
Maria Lee agree I find wishlists helpful in focusing on what I actually want the most, and you can remove items you decide you don’t really want that much
Such a great video with very useful tips! I will keep them in my mind for when I have the urge to shop (which is practically all the time 😂). Thank you!
Very good tips Amie. You always have the BEST bedding!!! We have a dog that thinks it is fine to occasionally jump up on ours, so no white bedding here. 😁
Hey Chase Amie! i just subscribed to your channel, I really love your energy and aura in your videos. you really are enjoyable to watch! go girl! haha i just opened up a savings account specifically for my channel jumbo double flap in black and now the saving begins! haha thanks for the wonderful videos x
Hi Amie - thanks for your great videos I have found them really insightful (and hence subscribed!). Sorry if this has been asked numerous times already but could you recommend your favourite platforms/websites to sell luxury bags, particularly for brands such as Dior, Celine, Prada and LV? Thanks so much!
+Chase Amie I am going on a holiday for Chrismas from Terminal 3 Heathrow. Let me know if you need something from Chanel duty free, FYI the reason I chose to fly from T3.LOL
+Erica L Aw you are so sweet! Haha I'm totally the same... any way I can fly from terminal 3 I will! I'm actually flying out from T3 in Feb so saving my money for then - thank you SO much for the offer though, seriously so nice of you :) xx
Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks! I loved this video and the one you did on where to buy pre-loved Chanel. I'm currently saving for my first Chanel...and the struggle is real lol...but like you said, its all about setting goals, budgeting and prioritizing! :P
I'll be doing the same are you in the past few years, and I don't have a high wage but with a little bit from here and there, I can afford a very good vacation (a month outside my country) and buy very nice things. Last year I got my first Chanel a Woc in black with gold hardware. Sorry about my English is not my language. PS: I love your chanel, you look very down to earth person.
Really great video with the best suggestions I've seen so far on RUclips:) Can you tell me what necklace you're wearing? I can't see it clearly, but it looks pretty!
+CapeCodBelle Thank you! This one was actually a gift so I'm afraid I have no idea where it's from! If I see anything similar about, I'll let you know though!
I currently have some bank accounts for savings as well. It's for my future kids (if I ever have one :D). It indeed helps a lot! Usually I spend my pay in two weeks but now, not anymore. I love your tips!
All your tips are great and on point! I actually bought my first LV SLG and bag last year buy doing a saving plan on 2014. It did feel so good once I paid them with the cc to get the points but paid the cc off next month. This year I couldn't save for my second one but I am thinking on getting me a part time job next year just to save for another LV bag.
+Adriana Gauzza Wow that's super dedication! It's absolutely a great feeling when you work towards something for a long time and then you suddenly realise your goal!
I love that you're so down to earth and articulate. This is pretty much how I save for vacations. Unfortunately my income does not allow me to travel, contribute to retirement, and buy luxury purses (first world problems), but I enjoy watching these videos and living vicariously through you all. Material things are just that - it's the experiences and memories that you create that are the most important thing :) xx
+JessieBanana
I promise you that you the work you is more fulfilling than a LV bag!
I agree with all the comments here! Working for a non profit is better than a luxury bag. It'll earn you way more respect than double C's ever will! Keep up the good work! 👏👏
I love how this video is secretly about money management more than actually buying a Chanel handbag lol You got me, lmoa.
+The Glamquest Girl haha well they're both very closely tied together in my eyes ;)
I really liked the line, “It’s not what I can’t afford! It’s what I choose to afford!” It’s good advice! Thanks.
KellyLQL agree
I bought 5 for my friend. She passed out. 5 flap medium black, red, beige, blue, white.
How long have you saved
Yes!! Yes to everything here! Elsie Ayala Amen girl! After paying off all my debt and saving quite a bit of money I am purchasing my first Chanel classic flap!
You never come across as preach-y which is why you are the only luxury channel you subscribe to. Great tips, I've just signed up to quid co!
Despite this video's title, your tips are very pragmatic. In fact, what you shared are general life tips vis-a-vis financial goals. I heard this saying before, "spend what is left from your savings, not save what is left from your spendings. "
I felt this is more like managing ur money video than affording a chanel. I really like this video nd it is exactly like my mindset nd it all makes sense!!!
Thank you for the amazing advice! :) During my first year at uni this was exactly how I saved up for my first Chanel bag - a mini classic flap in black and lambskin, which still remains my most loved possession to this day
+Jacqueline Sin I totally agree! There's so much satisfaction that comes from it - slow and steady wins the race :)
Thank you so much for keeping it real for all of us who are into luxury handbags. Great money management tips Amie, not only when saving for a bag but in general. Thanks for sharing :)

I had been saving for a boy bag, but putting all of that money towards grad school now. A year from now when I have (hopefully) a better job and an advanced degree, I'm restarting that fund for sure!
Thank you for making this! I really appreciate these money management and saving tips: they go beyond shopping for designer items.
I was kinda enraged by the title, but the advice you've given is universal and great, especially for a recent graduate like myself. Thank you!
Such a helpful and pragmatic video! Excellent tips.
1. Don't have kids
Truth!
True! If a woman manage to have just a decent job after graduating and not having kids for several years I think she’ll be able to save up for a chanel!
@@aninditaprimiari192 duh but children are worth way more than a bag, having children is biggest joy and richness
Lou Rosey bags are just things. If you’ll ever have kids you’ll understand that children and their love are priceless
Just found your channel as I'm planning my first investment bag purchase. Your tips are brilliant! You are very intelligent and your advice is solid. I'm not saving up for a bag, but this really helped me think about how to better save for trips! Thank you!
+Matthew Eubanks So glad you found it useful!
YES I feel so much better I’m not alone in returning things 😆 I however struggle with being picky when I love so many things
What a helpful video! I especially loved the tip about getting different savings accounts; I'd never really thought of that. Thanks!! :)
Really good advice not preachy at all. A lot I can use as I’m saving for a house but do like my shopping 😊. Thanks Amie x
Very usefull and practical tips. For me, it is one of the most useful videos on RUclips on bags and spending. I 've decided to become your fan. Love, love, love.
+Nguyen Hung aw thank you! so glad you enjoyed it :)
Loved your video! Excellent tips and you handled the tips beautifully, focusing on reminding people to do what works for them.
+Judy's World Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! :) xx
12 minutes straight FACTS! Absolutely helpful!
Great tips Amie! I really appreciate you making this video to help others about money. I do agree with you about easily getting swept away in getting luxury items if you are not mindful about how to spend your money. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
+lizzie Mac21 Thank you for your lovely comment! So glad you enjoyed the video :)
Just discovered you via Diary of a Spendaholic's channel. Love your down to earth attitude and genuine enthusiasm. xoxoxo
Great tips on how to save money in general. Thanks Amie!
You simply said it, " you are a bag lover"! Good luck!
Nowadays, life is just so hard, we need to be practical,
I would rather save my money for the rainy days,
You are so lucky to have a lot of extra money....good on you!
In my own opinion, it is not practical.....
Love this video. Thank u for posting and for your effort.
These tips are extremely helpful and so motivating. I'm a new subscriber and really glad I found your channel!
+brickredified So glad you enjoyed it!
I do the separate savings accounts too. Easy way not to spend your money on other things. And I agree pre-loved is an awesome way to go to save some money. My collection is also about 50% pre-loved.
+Cloudburst2000 Absolutely - it's such a great way to save some money!
I love your message at the end regarding happiness.... very true xxx
+Joanna Rice thank you lovely :) xx
Thank you Amie! Love this video! I really want to have a Chanel bag someday, hopefully your tips will help me to achieve it! I agree with you on what really happiness is all about. I am thankful for what I have, mostly speaking of non monetary things but I also enjoy nice and pretty items. Thanks again!
+DafneHola So glad you enjoyed it! Absolutely - having nice things is always fun but there is of course so much more to life! Striking a balance between the two is the ideal :) xx
This is kind of a novel tip I picked up:
For seasons like Christmas or Easter, for example, if you're looking to buy Christmas cards or novelty bunny ears, buy them off season.
Having said that...the older i get, i find the less i want in terms of quantity. I prefer connecting with people more.
+YellowLittle Ducky Great tip! I always buy christmas gift sets, wrapping and decorations after Christmas. It's such a great way to save money!
Me, too! I also try to buy extremely versatile wrapping paper so I can use it for all occasions!
I also noticed people who afford expensive handbags are usually good with money.
Makes a lot of sense and great video Amie! xoxo💋
+FashionablyAmy Thank you lovely!
The most useful video I've seen in how to afford luxury items
+summ3rnightfashion yay! So glad you find it helpful!
I LOVE THIS! Thank you sooo much for making this!!!
Thank you, wonderful & very helpful!..... I def. will be using some of great tips to help me in the future to afford my first Louie V purchase.
You are absolutely true. I am considering a purchase of a Chanel bag. Thanks a lot.
Just the right video at just the right time :) Really trying to get my financial situation sorted out before 2016 comes around.. Very helpful xx
+theminimalpair So glad you enjoyed it - thank you for watching! :)
This is a great video~ I like your idea. My trick to deal with the marketing emails is to put them all in the junk mail. When I fall in love of something, I go the junk mailbox and then I always find deals.
+Ariel X Great idea! Love the junk mail idea :)
omg, she is completely inspiring!!
Awesome tips ! love the quote you had watched from lipstick jungle. would definitely keep that in mind when I purchase stuffs !! Had always been someone who just purchased things because I can afford but I never had thought whether should I purchase em'.
+Chen Wei Ung So glad you found it helpful!

Thank you very much for your tips, especially the one for naming the account saving for what we want. I’m definitely going to open a saving account and name it Chanel WOC :) It will keep me focused!
+NorCachapuz It really works! So glad you found it useful! :)
I really like the idea of making a "wish list" for next pay period. I always buy stuff and then later regretting it because I rather have this other item instead. I am going to do that!
Maria Lee agree I find wishlists helpful in focusing on what I actually want the most, and you can remove items you decide you don’t really want that much
Feel like watching this video again and again.. Thank you for sharing... Loved....
Such a great video with very useful tips! I will keep them in my mind for when I have the urge to shop (which is practically all the time 😂). Thank you!
+barbara van impe haha glad you found it helpful! :)
Thank you for your candid tips, I think they are great!
+rosam10ful Thank you!
Great tips! I love watching you videos!
Very good tips Amie. You always have the BEST bedding!!! We have a dog that thinks it is fine to occasionally jump up on ours, so no white bedding here. 😁
+Over40BeautyProductQueen Haha thank you! I'm jealous - I would love to have a dog!
Hello Amie, can you please do a video on how to choose preloved bags? Recommendation on websites, etc. Thank you!
Im soooooo glad I found your channel! Wish you'd upload more though but I know you must be super busy :)
Great recommandations, honest, not materialistic and really realistic !!! :D thanks!
Well said! I love how everything is phrased. Great video over all :)

+RivMusic1 aw thank you for the sub and welcome! So glad you enjoyed the video - the jumbo is very worthwhile saving up for!!
Great tips!!!! I am going to have a wardrobe clear out!!
+Erica L Haha right there with you! Long overdue :) xx
I love all your tips here! Wish you have a blogpost about this so we can share it :)
I agreed with Anh Tu, think hard before returning item, someone else may want to buy new, but end up with used, returned product.
I never said anything about returning a used product (which I have never done nor will I ever do).
Great advice Amie!!!!! Useful tips. Keep it up!
+FrivolaAngie Thank you so much!
Wonderful and very smart tips and it's not about the bag, but good life haks ! Thank u)
Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks! I loved this video and the one you did on where to buy pre-loved Chanel. I'm currently saving for my first Chanel...and the struggle is real lol...but like you said, its all about setting goals, budgeting and prioritizing! :P
+Nataly Tsui So glad you enjoyed and found it useful! Sounds like you have it right - goals are the key to getting anything done IMO! :)
