I love this topic I have been on the extreme end, I used to follow Gordon Ramsey and Suze Orman religiously but at the end of the day when you completely deprive yourself from enjoying certain things that you truly enjoy it is also not healthy. I actually ended up saving so much for a year and then spending so much the year after. So I have found what worked for me and followed that ever since. I now have a reward system for every financial milestone I achieve. For example, after having enough emergency fund I got myself my first Louis Vuitton wallet. After buying a house, I bought myself my first Chanel bag (pre loved), after I renovated my home (which increased the equity of our house) I bought my first Valentino shoes (pre loved).
I have a technique I call "plotting". Lol if I want something I save up for it, I also look at all the options learn about them, getting a good price etc. Then, when I'm finally ready to buy, I know I'm making the best possible choice for me, plus the sense of achievement is huge.
Thank you so much for this. As a 21 year old I’m realising how little financial advice I’ve gotten throughout the years, and now that I've moved out and am dealing with bills, these sorts of videos are an enormous help for long term thinking.
Something I would add, is if you DO get a promotion... continue living on your previous wage and bank the difference (or invest). The more money you make the more you somehow end up on spending on food and other "necessities" until you go... how did i ever live on less? Its a trap I fell into when i was younger and wish I had saved it (or bought better things and not wasted it, but thats what your early 20's are for!) and yes SPEAK about money!!! its only come to my attention recently I actually make more than most of my friends, and earn way above the normal wage. I have no idea how I would live if had to get another job and earn the average (though i want to attempt to live like i earn less to bank more).
*Another thing I do is change my scarcity mindset!* Growing up I've always had this scarcity mindset, thinking that I have to save and hoard all the good things in life. This caused me to cumulate unused and expired makeup, unworn clothes and handbags that caused EVEN MORE WASTE in the end. Now, I make an effort to use up what I already bought, and stop forgetting about the things I purchased. This also helped me with shopping urges and have more gratitude for the things I already own.
Cherry Tung - Luxury Fashion & Money Hacks this resonates so much with me!! I still do this all the time and don’t want to use my new clothes or shoes because I don’t want to “waste” them. I really want to be able to wear and enjoy the things I love but Im still working to change my mindset!
I suffer with this mindset too! Could you perhaps elaborate how you pulled yourself out of it? And how you make yourself actually use the stuff that you buy?
@@AndWhatAboutIt There are two ways to look at this. Amy buys several items of things she likes and rotates them. Therefore keeping something she likes for years. I have up till now had just one item and used it till it's ready to be thrown away. If you don't change weight too much (which I'm lucky enough to do), I'm coming round to Amy's way of thinking.
Oh my, this was so me before. Coming from a poor background and started living in the US 10yrs ago my scarcity mindset got me hoarding 'free stuffs' that I don't even need. I felt so heavy having all these things around me till I stumbled on minimalist videos and I started unloading and only keeping quality stuffs.
I love how honest you are when talking about your finances. And it inspired me SO much, when I read a similar blog post on your blog, it really changed the way I spend and save money. Watching this type of videos motivates me to work even harder.
I personally no longer buy hand bags or shoes and even clothes !!! I means I do buy the odd top here and there but not priority for me !! I’d rather save my money 💰 for a yearly vacation !!
There have been several articles stating that experiences (especially vacations) give lasting happiness rather than things. With buying stuff, the happiness quickly goes away, and so begins the cycle of buying more stuff.
@@ExoticDreams well but after travel you have only memories, zero money. when you buy hangbag you can resell and get money back :) that's the difference
ah kind of same. The problem with travel is it just makes you want to go more and more haha!! I would love to go back to places ive been but also want to see so many more! Im going to save up and do france and combine it with going to the chanel store and just buying something small haha!
@@brokegirl123 Therein lies my point. What's the point in buying handbags if you don't use them? Why plan to resell it later only to buy more bags? I see it in RUclipsrs and bloggers all the time. It's a never-ending cycle where you gain nothing except a bunch of bags on a shelf. Also when you resell it, that's not a guarantee of getting all your money back. At least just put that money in future savings/retirement instead of bags and shoes collecting dust.
You hit the nail on the head...to me money = more freedom. Freedom to start your own business, do what you love on a daily basis, live where you are the happiest and most at peace...all of that! Loved this video girl!!
Excellent video. I'm American and can't stress enough how important it is to pay your bills and debt first, and then treat yourself. Make sure that future you is taken care of before splurging today.
Love. Love. Love this video. As a business woman who is now doing a double law degree, I am extremely grateful for the years that I saved. My savings have sustained me throughout the past few years. Looking forward to first luxury handbag purchase after I graduate next year and pass the bar.
Aime, this is why I love what you bring to RUclips. You always share something that matters; even in your haul and unboxing videos. I love when women (men too) share, educate, encourage other women and men. This is the reason I enjoy you and your videos. Please don't stop doing what you do. 🙏💕
I am totally the same when it comes to cars I used to have an Audi and it was costing me so much money that the joy quickly went. I now have a little Citroen which is so much cheaper to run and I love it. Giving me more disposable income to buy the things I love 💕
One of the most genuine, honest RUclipsrs, so precise, concise, and empowering - I’ve always wished we would talk more about it! Thank you so much for this video! 💯 resonate with all you have said x
Really glad you made this video as I totally had this notion that you came from money. It’s inspiring to hear that you’ve worked hard for what you have. Well done xx
I"m so glad you did this video. Yes, you are absolutely right...women do need to have more conversations about money, about growing our wealth, and about ambition. I've also always been openly ambitious and though you do get that prejudice at times, I found that being upfront about it is what worked best for me.
Love this video Amie! Very informative and refreshing to hear a woman talk about ambition and money. I would love to see more videos on this topic as well as career advice... without forgetting all the bags shoes and cloths of course!! 👜👠👗😍 xx
I'm so glad you're bringing this up! I'm so surprised how many peers and colleagues don't pay attention to their money and are troubled even asking for raises. So far only you and Sophie, as luxury bloggers, actually talk about it.
This video couldn't have come at a better time for me! I am trying to sort my finances out at the moment and minimise any outgoings that aren't necessary and wasted. I would love to see more of these videos in regards to how you save for certain things in life such as how to save for a mortgage and how to save without risking losing your entire social life but striking the balance between still having a good social life and still saving :) x
I love your honesty in this video, I have similar views on growing up with very little to appreciate working hard for nicer things for me and my family now. It's also something that I teach my children now even though I have been able to provide everything for them that I never had as a child.
This should be a public service announcement, so many people are trapped in wanting it all and this is all such amazing advice that people could apply to every aspect of their life. Wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this video but it was so good.
Wow Amie! This video was SUPER inspiring and I truly admire your ability to use your platform to elevate women and dismiss negative stigmas around buying what you want! I was saying “yesssssss!” throughout your video. Much love to you!
Finance and investing is one of the last male dominated industries and for some reason, there are very few women talking about investing. Thank you for raising it - it is is big issue that nobody seems to be talking about! x
Funny, I had something similar happen with commilitons when we were on a study trip. We went (much to my dislike - it was too noisy for my taste!) out every evening. I drank mineral water, which was about 3 €; the others ordered multiple expensive drinks, I guess they spent over 60 € an evening. On our last day I went to Cartier and bought myself a beautiful pen, which I wanted to have for a long time. My commilitons saw that, and one of them said "I couldn't afford spending so much money for a pen!". And I answered: "Well, actually you could, if you wanted to; you just had to skip those many expensive drinks you ordered in every bar we visited the last three days." That was that 😊. I think everyone should spend their money on things they enjoy; but fact is, because most of us aren't billionaires, we have to decide what is more (or most) important for us to have. Some like splurging on going out on a regularly basis, some like saving that money and buy a nice handbag, jewellery, or something else 🤗.
Hi Chase I admire you from the beginning and Im so glad to know we have the same approach in managing finances.😍 I started buying not only luxury bags but also other luxury items since 2007 and Im proud that I did it in careful and systematic way of handling money without stressful loans or huge credit card debts. Now Im reaping the good results and enjoying a luxurious lifestyle my way.🤗🤩 Thank you for inspiring other people around, More Power and Have a Fabulous Life Ahead. 😎😘❤
Super insightful video, Amie! Being in charge of your finances is a luxury in and of itself. Thank you so much for sharing! One of my fave motivational quotes: Freedom is on the other side of discipline.
My priorities right now are trips and next luxury! So I’m always trying to save on restaurants, nights out and cheap fashion and always looking out for cheap flights and splurge a little bit more on hotels! ☺️
So interesting to hear this!! My fiancé and I love to travel and love luxury pieces...so to create a balance we don’t spend a lot on clothes/dates... we keep it simple most of the year so we can splurge on holidays and on vacations.
Enjoyed this - more money and career videos would be great. Plus, considering we all (well most of us) need to maximise our funds in order to buy luxury items, in a way these sorts of videos are extremely relevant to a luxury channel like yours. Love it!!
It's all very nice giving out tips and I am sure lots of people find them useful. But I do think people need to realise that you do a need to have a good income to be able to afford luxury bags ! It helps a lot !
No words to describe how much I love this 💜 You're absolutely spot on and amazing for helping to shine the spotlight on such an important and critical topic.
*MAXIMIZE THE JOY FROM YOUR BUDGET - so well said!* Prioritization is key - I also tend to prioritize bags over things that don't necessarily bring me joy, like luxury apartments and fancy restaurants. Never say "I can't afford it", but instead say, "I choose not to". Changing your mindset is POWERFUL!!
I’m 20 and I reliase that I never have been given financial advice at all I believe it’s something which should be taught in schools as you go from still being viewed as a child to right that it’s off into the big world
Amie I loved this video so much, especially what you said about changing your mindset to withholding your money being a thing of empowerment. My husband and I recently changed our financial priorities in a big way to save for a future family. It’s hard to not spend along with my friends on a day out for example, but when I think about where that money is going, it feels really good :)
Thanks for sharing the amazing financial advice!! I work in the financial industry and financial literacy is so important! I wish they taught it in high school, before I started working at the bank I had no idea, and there’s many people my age (28) who are very accomplished in their jobs and yet have no clue about investing and their finances!!
Coming from Venezuela, I've seen the struggles. People see u as crazy when u set urself a goal to buy something expensive, they dont understand what's behind it, surpass and overcome different problems.
Id rather spend more on holidays and restaurants because it gives me more joy than to buy another bag, it also gives me wonderful memories. I really dont want a closet full of bags, the ones I have I baby so they are in really good condition. We are all different and if you love bags I say go for it. I do think that we become happiest when we help others so giving a bit to charity, even if you give of your time is priceless and can fill you up with joy. Maybe visiting an orphanage in a third world country. We have so much to be grateful for, some have nothing.
Thank you for this! Such an important conversation for us to be having but one that sadly, doesn't get very much air time. Love that you are using your platform to educate and share your investment tips & tricks with others
I would love if this became a whole playlist section on your channel! If you've learned anything about balancing paying off student loans with investing, that's something I'm interested in hearing you speak about
Well done! You’re so right. We share about everything with our closest friends and not money. This departure for you was a risk worth taking. Thank you.
For future videos, you could talk about how to invest or how to get started. I get too scared to put my money out there because I might lose it. But hopefully you speaking on the subject will inspire me and other women out there who don't know how to start.
Very good point about prioritising what you enjoy the most! I don’t spend a lot on food, but I do love to spend on luxuries! Your video really justified my thoughts! Made me feel less guilty for buying handbags 😆
Love this, lol, the luxury I primarily splurge on are my kids. Definitely love them most of all (almost all the time 😜). Still buying lux items but almost always preloved , always looking for a deal. And now hope to buy more property
Love this video, especially the fact that it doesn’t focus on materialism but in mindset which is so important. It was great to hear as I have developed a similar mindset which I could relate, making me feel like I’m on the right track :) would love to see more videos like this career/money tips wise! X
Could you do finance videos too? I want to get into investing but I don’t really know how to start! I’d love to see your take on it :)) you’re really inspiring and I’m really glad I found your channel! 💕✨
Great video! My advice would be to find an investment deal with a bank that tracks the ftse. It's reasonably low atm so if you go for a long term investment, minimum 5 years, you should come out with a small but healthy profit. Better than the interest in a savings account at least.
Loved this empowering video. Thank you for the Makers Conference recommendation too - watched and was inspired. I couldn’t agree more that talking and understanding finances is critically important for every woman.
Such a good watch wonderful information. Even just the simple stuff like prioritizing what you want to spend your money on I too hate spending money on restaurants but love spending money on handbags. And I don’t even own a car. Thanks for all the links down below
Thanks very good video. I was looking into investiments and finances to maximize my assets. I am not yet wealthy si any help helps. Why don't you made a series ?
Loved this video! You should be very proud of the hard work you put it, and thoroughly deserve your purchases. I love building my collection but have come to realize lately that I need to hold back a little bit and prioritize other things at the moment. I live in Tokyo and the consignment stores here are fab but there is too much choice and I’ve gone pretty wild in the last couple of years and built up quite a bit of great handbags but after watching this video I do realize I need to be a little bit more savvy with money for the time being. The next bag on my wishlist is a white or blush pink YSL Kate bag as I love my black one but I’m going to set myself a realistic goal of saving up for it and purchasing in a years time as I have other financial commitments this year. I have fallen in the trap before of buying something because it is cheaper and it would take me longer to save up for the item I really wanted, but I would then find myself still lusting for it. So I think slow and steady wins the race now 😂 as i ended up selling the cheaper items at a loss before to put the money towards the item I really wanted. Silly me, lessons learned. Love all these videos you do Amie in being a bit more money savvy! Ps I don’t understand why people would give you a thumbs down for this video. If doing that then at least put a comment in as to why you think that. (Constructive comment) I find there is a lot of begrudgers and lurkers out there. This is the reason why I don’t show more of my bags on my social media pages. People have different priorities but if it makes that person happy and brings them joy doing something they enjoy like having nice handbags then each to their own. I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to be so negative towards someone else for something they enjoy doing. Not nice. Keep doing what you love ❤️ 😊
I love your tips! Such a refreshing and insightful video. I agree with so many points. It's why I'm still waiting before getting a chanel bag, I want to move out first and have my own space to display my current items and start buying luxury. Great video Amie :D
I'm a nurse and I don't believe I'll be buying a Chanel bag anytime soon by coming to work earlier and staying longer after my shift ends 😂 "putting in more hours" only makes sense if you get paid for that
Love your positive attitude about money and life (and designer bags of course)! I definitely agree with what you've said and good for you for saying that women should be ambitious and also learn about money and investing. 100% agree and I live that every day. I love talking about handbags but also love to delve into investments and politics, but I don't seem to find too many people who are interested in these topics. Love to see like-minded people such as yourself encouraging others to look into these topics. :-D
Thank you for sharing these tips! I’m planning on buying my first designer bag at the end of this year! I think you’re an amazing inspiration for girls like me who are starting their careers and starting to be truly independent. I can’t wait for more videos and I’ll definitely be checking out the mentioned investment websites! 🥰👜💕

Coming from Venezuela, I've seen the struggles. People see u as crazy when u set urself a goal to buy something expensive, they dont understand what's behind it, surpass and overcome different problems.
I’m just commenting to say I truly hope you’re family is ok back home if you still have family in Venezuela ♥️
I love number 1. Prioritize your money where it makes you happy
I would love if this became a whole playlist section on your channel! If you've learned anything about balancing paying off student loans with investing, that's something I'm interested in hearing you speak about
Well done! You’re so right. We share about everything with our closest friends and not money. This departure for you was a risk worth taking. Thank you.
What you said is exactly what I think in my mind, thank you for sharing !
For future videos, you could talk about how to invest or how to get started. I get too scared to put my money out there because I might lose it. But hopefully you speaking on the subject will inspire me and other women out there who don't know how to start.
This video is so important! I'm so glad you talked so in depth about money. I can't wait to see more!
Amie this video was AMAZING!
Ambition is not the same as consumerism, we can have the ambition of making the world better!
Agree I’m saving for a holiday, your mindset advice was really good about choosing not to rather than thinking you’re missing out ;)
So much respect for you doing this video! Your honesty and excellent tips will help so many, myself included. Thank you!
Love the honesty ❤️ I also love how healthy your hair looks, esp the tips. Mine is always too dry!
I love how practical you are. These are really great tips. Thank you!
I LOVE the mindset tip. Thanks so much for making this video, it is so helpful and definitely an important topic that doesn’t get enough attention!
I wish I knew these money tips when I was in my 20's. Thanks for sharing!
Well said, good to hear what you don’t splurge on to get the things you really want
Thanks very good video. I was looking into investiments and finances to maximize my assets. I am not yet wealthy si any help helps. Why don't you made a series ?
Love this video Amie🙌
You are such a boss Amie! Inspiring and empowering women all the time ❤️
I loved that! "I could do this, but I'd like to do this" definitely working on this mindset for my long term goals :-)
Great video! Will definitely check out the blogs you suggested on investing.
Loved this. Thanks for sharing! I always feel very insecure about money and about saving. This helped a me a lot.
Super great video!!👍🏼👍🏼 Thank you for sharing your tips and links. 💕
What is your career path? Could you make a video on that?
Love that you dress this topic and thank you for the good advice :-)
(Constructive comment)
I find there is a lot of begrudgers and lurkers out there.
I want to buy a bag but I might get a second hand one , i want to use that part of money on travel
Great video and great tips!! 😊 love it
Thank you for sharing these tips! I’m planning on buying my first designer bag at the end of this year! I think you’re an amazing inspiration for girls like me who are starting their careers and starting to be truly independent. I can’t wait for more videos and I’ll definitely be checking out the mentioned investment websites! 🥰👜💕
Great video Amie. Very refreshing. Thanks!

ive always wondered how ladies afford a new $5k bag every month lol you both must do very well 💰
thanks for the very informative video!
Haha either brand sponsored or they're selling and returning as they're buying. no one anyone will drop $5k every single month for new bags.
Cherry Tung - THE FRUGAL DESIGNER HANDBAG LOVER 👍🏽😊
Love this video! Love the comparison to dieting and liking/loving and in definitely going to apply that!
Please make more videos like this! I learned so much from this one :)
Love this!! Thank you for this Amie😍😍😍
Great video, completely agree with all of your points.
loved this video, thanks. Also completely random aside. I've been looking for a similar headboard to that for a while. Where did you get it?
I love your honesty and practical tips! 💗
I feel like money can be such a taboo subject to raise. Glad you made this video!
