Jason Simon’s guitar skills are over the top. Absolutely beautiful, heavy, crunchy, jammy, melodic, thought provoking, even drug inducing, riffing, tripped out, amazing psychedelia abound from this man’s fingertips. He’s got something very heavy lurking within his soul and man I dig what’s coming out of him. Just fickin’ amazin’!!!

The respect I have for Jason’s playing is of the highest regard… To me he’s up there with the greats from the 60s and 70s 🤘🏼

Agree. In addition to their great riffs and drumming I've always thought he is a really gifted lyricist which is rare these days. Been a big fan since I first heard them around 2006.

Just got out of the Deadmeadow show at the Lodge Room in LA. 90 minute mind bending set that also reached deep into my heart. What a great SOUND!!!!!!

Favorite band. I would love to know how they get such a killer bass sound on their recordings.

Man, thank you for this. Really cool interview. Love the gear talk too. Got to know Dead Meadow a few years ago through a skateboarding video and the music just fit right in, tripped me out. Cheers from Brazil!

Jason is absolutely a fantastic guitar player, but his lyrics have always struck me as something else. It’s like he’s writing poetry and building a song around it. That’s been a huge inspiration for me.

Absolutely. The lyrics have always caught my ear as much as their music has. Dark, occult, mystical, on par with Zep and Sabbath imo. They have a lot of truly great songs.

Killer interview. Thank you for posting it. I don’t know if you dig Desert rock at all, or have any interviews with anyone from that scene, but you should totally talk to Gary Arce and Boomer from the band Yawning Man. Gary is one of the most idiosyncratic guitar players I’ve ever heard, and Mario (Boomer,) lolly’s bass tone is something else. Mario also plays guitar in Fatso Jetson and has this really unique blend of surf, punk, twang, and just straight up weirdness going on. Also these were the cats who were integral in that late 80s early 90s generator party scene out in the Palm Desert. Where Kyuss came from and what would ultimately spawn Queens of the Stone Age. If you haven’t heard yawning man I highly recommend the albums rock formations, revolt against tired noises, and live at giant rock. That last one was recorded and mostly improvised live in the desert for an audience of no one and has a killer concert film that accompanies it.
