I just had an idea! It has probably already been said, but could use a coping strip on the top and bottom of alternate blocks to make them match if the panel was not a square.
I love to use a Panel on the back of a Kids Quilt as a backing to make it a double sided quilt for kids. That way, it is fun on the front or the back. You can use a panel in the center and then just add borders around it to size it up for your quilt. Great idea for a book. Can't wait to see the new quilt ideas!
Hello Donna and Fran, great video today on using panel fabric. Great choices of fabric to display to show us. I liked all the pattern choices, looking forward to your next video.
Great show!! I have a set of panels for trains that are about 10 x 12 or 13 that I have been holding onto for quite some time. I can’t wait to see your new book and to try to use these in one of the three Yard patterns. Thank you for all you do!
This is such a great idea! And I love the idea of using pieces from a layer cake as well! I own all of your books! They make the best quick and easy baby quilts and gifts. Thank you for sharing your talents.
I LOVE panels so this video makes me so happy. Also love the new background decor for the videos. Really awesome. You have done it again ladies, showing how versatile your quilts are. ❤❤❤
So happy to see this video. I have more than 100 panel quilts, many with individual blocks. All of the panels you highlighted have eight blocks, but your patterns show 12. Do you suggest getting two panels or adding extra 2nd and 3rd fabric?
I love the panels. So so clever. I have a Dick a Jane panel. I collect that time period in the text books. Was the first book I learned to read I grade school. You ladies are super fun. Always cheerful, informative and great Teachers. Thank you
Thankyou for all ur videos!! I now own 5 of ur books.. I am working on my third quilt, and I am enjoying how easy the instructions are.. although I am not too sure sometimes if seams should be pressed open or just to the dark side, and I’m not too good at sewing a scant quarter… but thanks again
Woohoo!!! Love the idea! But here is a puzzle for you. I have the Bluebird of Happiness block panel. 15 blocks in total. The block measures 7”, edge to edge, with some wiggle room to allow for an additional inch. I have the coordinating fat quarter bundle (the original precut 😊) any ideas as to a pattern?
Love your videos, have one of your books, could you please tell me how many yards to make a full topper would it be 3 yards? Not sure how many squares. Help. Thank you
Hi Mary! You may need 9 - 12 yards of fabric for a full. I would find the final dimension that you are wanting the quilt to be at and then work backwards from the queen/king enlargement in the book you have. It may be that you only add 2 rows/columns and add extra borders to get the size you need. If you would like to talk through it more, you can give us a call and Stephanie can walk through it with you 🥰 - 866-855-0998
@@FabricCafe thank you so much in getting back to me I will be waiting for your answer, thanks again. Learned so much and enjoy watching your videos over and over
All these patterns have 12 large blocks and the panels only have 8 separate images. There is an elephant in the room. Do the kits include 1.5 panels instead of the 8 imaged ones shown?
Hi Sharon! Yes, all of these kits include 12 panel images. The 'preview' images made available to us only included 8 panels, but the kits will have 12. 🥰
Hi, Lilette! Yes, that is correct. Our 3-yard quilt patterns take just three 1 yard cuts of fabric for a quilt top, borders and binding. This does not include a backing fabric, which will be an additional 3 yards of coordinating fabric for our standard lap-size patterns. Hope that helps? This video is also speaking about panel fabrics, which is slightly different...In this instance we have two one yard cuts of fabric, and then a panel fabric that includes enough squares to fill our blocks. In this case it may be more/less than a yard.
Thank you so much for your prompt response , it is much appreciated. I wish I was close to US but unfortunately I am very far in Australia where we do not have a great choice of fabric where I am in Sydney
Start with finding patterns that have large blocks that are not a part of a strip assembly. The blocks should be the same size or smaller than the panel blocks you have. You can cut them down to fit the block if they are smaller, or just trim/square them to use them in a pattern that has a block the same size. We have a new panel video coming out on Oct. 1st that may have some ideas for you as well.
The vibrant life pattern is gorgeous. Looks like fireworks!!!!
Panels in a 3 yard quilt! Who would have guessed! Knocked it out of the park again!! Also, just love your blouses! Always so colorful!
Many of your patterns are just perfect for donation quilts. Thank you for your joyful videos. Have a great day ladies.
They are! My quilt guild donated 140 quilts in one night, at least half to 2/3rds are from the Three Yard Quilt books
@@royalladybug30 How wonderful!!!
So excited for the new book!!!!
Your panels are stunning! The coordinating fabrics are equally beautiful. Love this video!

Thanks for theses great ideas and suggestions!

Very creative to retool older patterns for a new quilt with panel blocks.
I have a lot of the large panels and I hope that the new patterns will accommodate the large rectangular panels. Thanks!
The bees are so cute!!!!!!🥰 ❤

I also like fabrics in your blouses. They look like some of the quilts.
Busy bee is so cute😊
I can’t wait to see the panels you come up with
Well, this was one of the most fun, informative videos to date. Thank you so so much.

Looking forward to your panel book …how to adapt for the many varieties of panels.
This was wonderful
Wow something else for me to try. That is after I get the next 6 quilts done. I love your creativity and ideas. The bright colors are perfect.

Love and can’t wait for the new book of panel quilts.
So happy to hear about the new book. I had request a panel book a couple of years ago so thank you for listening. :)
We are very excited about the new panel patterns and can't wait to share them with everyone 🥰
My go to pattern for panels is Roman Holiday. They always look great!❤

I’m surprised you don’t have a book for panel quilts. I love your patterns.
Thanks for the idea of using a panel.
Love all your tutorials - so inspirational!
Ok spoke too soon all of the panel quilts are so so cute😊
Your new background it great!! Nicely done. Enjoying your videos.
Thanks so much!
Yay! I just heard Fran’s announcement.
I got a border fabric that I used in my latest 3 yard quilt.
Loving ❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful ❤
Fantastic 😊😊😊😊
Personally I like a brighter color as my #2 fabric rather than creams/white.
Hope to see a full panel that isn't cut up!? What do you do then?

When you say 3 yards is it all materials add up as 1 yard per fabric

Struggling to find one when you have only one 8 block panel
🥰
looks alot like frog eggss - you're going to be overrun with pollywogs!
We're going to have to button down the hatches. No pollywogs allowed!
I hate panels because you can never square them up really even
Trim them smaller than the borders and add your own border if necessary to bring them to the right size.
They can be very ornery!
