Love watching all your videos, and happy knowing I can binge watch for quite a while before I run out of videos. I love this panel, and happen to have one!!! I've had it for about 2-3 yrs and just made it into a Fall quilt for my toddler grandson about 2 months ago. I wish I'd watched this video and others in which you use panels to make a larger quilt. I just used the panel, batting and a backing to make it a quilt the size of the panel and a 2 1/2 inch brown binding. I quilted it by hand. I embroidered around each figure with black or orange embroidery thread. Every flower, rake, pumpkin, bird, etc. I loved how puffy and soft it made it look. I have other panels that I will definitely use as centerpieces for larger quilts. Now I know that when my grandson outgrows this quilt I can make it bigger for him (if my dil let's me) she likes to save things. I guess if it lasts the test of time she can give it to a grandchild of hers in the future. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and great ideas.
This came across my RUclips at the right time because I am making several panels into lap and bed quilts. So the idea of a 4 patch or even a 9 patch border is brilliant!
I love your idea of using 4-patch blocks to make your border. When you were first putting them on the design wall, I was feeling your pain about getting them distributed the way your wanted. But....after they were in the quilt and you got the entire effect, they looked great!
First of all, you are so fun and normal and easy to follow. Second of all I will definitely use this method a Christmas panel I want to begin....purchased last March, Robert Kaufman winter white line. Anyway, looking forward to quilting tutorials. I have more panels so quilting panel tips certainly appreciated. Thank You, Carla J Seeks Wisconsin
Absolutely love this! Just found your channel tonight and I've been binge watching. I've never made a quilt, and you've got some great ideas for a beginner quilter like me. Thank you!
Love this panel, and your four patch border is another great idea. I’ve made some juvenile quilts using panels, and bordered them in different ways. Bit I never tried your idea. Must try for the next one. During the pandemic, I’ve made three large, bed size quilts, mostly using my stash for the piecing, and buying yardage for the borders and backing. The last six months I’ve made nine baby and child sized quilt tops. I have to finish and quilt them. Not my favorite thing to do. I’ve made them very simple, letting the fabric stand out and they turned out really cute. It’s been so nice just to sew. I bought a lot of precuts so cutting is minimal. Sometimes Its nice to relax and just sew!
Yes .. the pandemic was only good for one thing .. I got alot of sewing done I am glad you are going to try this... it is easy and FUN thanks for watching April
New subscriber here and I really enjoyed your video. I have never made a quilt before but I bought a king size pillow sham with a bear scene on it and I thought I would try to make squares around it . Sounds a little crazy but I thought it would be like quilting around a panel. I’ll take the back panel off the sham so it will be a single layer . Oh well, wish me luck.
Love the quilt.....I love anything fall and Halloween !!! I must share with you a few words of warning.....don't place your wool ironing mat on top of a cutting board...it will warp it. Happened to me !!! Thanks you so much for sharing your knowledge of quilting....I always pick up some thing I didn't know !!!
Glad I could help. I have another tutorial coming out with a panel and a jelly roll that is easy and I am very happy with the result. Thank you for watching. 😀 April
Hi April, if this quilt is still in the ufo pile( lol) hopefully not it is beautiful. I think for the quilting top stitch pattern, maybe something the represent the wind? Not sure if there are top stitching the represents that element,
Just found your channel tonight and have watched a couple of videos. You had me when I saw that you were a quilter and paper crafter so I already subbed. 😃 I love how this turned out using the 4 patch for a border. Thanks for sharing!
Here it is to yours after you've made this post add I found it today period I am trying to do a panel quilt and I understand about putting the first border on but what I don't understand is how you decided to use six and a half inch finished blocks and match them up on the sides in the top so you don't have to cut one or two down to fit the panel quilt. I hope this makes sense How do you figure out what size of blocks to use with your panel quilt? Thank you so much I enjoy your videos
To be honest Sharon... I just guesstimate and pray that it works ... LOL I try to figure how big I want the quilt ... then measure the panel pieces and then work in the block sizes...
I am making a memory quilt for a relative. She sent me a variety of clothes to work with. I have cottons and tee shirts. I made a pinwheel top out of the cottons but am struggling to figure out what to do with the shirts. I was thinking of turning them into a panel and bordering it for the back.
I am making a memory quilt for a family member. She sent me a variety of clothes to use. I took the cotton fabrics and made a pinwheel top but am struggling with ideas for the tee shirts. I’m thinking of turning them into a panel and doing a border around it. This will be the back of the quilt. Will this work?
Absolutely. Or you could use your pinwheels around the tshirt panel unless you’ve already made the pinwheel portion o the quilt. Having blocks of interest on both sides of the quilt would be great. Hope that helps. April
I used big clips and attached small bungee cords to those and smaller clips to those bungee cords to hold the quilts. Hope that makes sense. Thank you for watching and commenting. April
That was a library table from my Dad’s hometown. My husband and father in law cut out the space for my sewing machine. While cleaning it up we found gum stuck under the table. I left a piece because it could have been from my Dad. It sounds like something he might have done while he was in school. LOL April
I would like to see someone to make a quilt using all those geek fabrics. (Science fabrics) My husband has me buy them at every store But I don't know what to do with them!
Just started quilting and found this. Absolutely love this. And your great. I’ve been scouring the web and can’t find the snowman pumpkin panel you used. Any idea of the name Or company? Tia 😀
That is a library table from the Amana Colonies in Iowa. My dad was from there and my Grandmother gave me that table. I asked my husband to cut out a place for my sewing machine. While he and his dad were doing that they took the heavy coat of varnish off the top to expose a beautiful wood. Probably more information than you wanted. LOL. Thanks for watching. April
I was going to say thank you for using your left handed, (lol) but I later notice you were switching hands which as you know can be confusing for left handed people living in a right handed world. However, I did enjoy your video. Will you show how to square up quilt blocks and quilted table runners. lefthanded? Thanks for the panel ideas. I always have trouble with them.
I am a bit ambidextrous when it comes to cutting. LOL. I actually use scissors with my right hand but write with my left hand. What can I say - I am confused. :-). Thank you for watching. :-). And just to let you know some of the smartest people I know are left handed.
@@aprilscraftroom I understand. I use both hands as well. However, when it comes to something as serious as cutting with a rotary blade, I focus a lot harder on what hand I'm using. Im too scary to use my right hand. Lol
I'm so unhappy with the panel I got. It's so out of square I can't even use it. $13.00 to throw in the garbage😢😢. Can't even cut it into pieces to use.
Here is another quilt tutorial for a quick and easy 3 yard quilt. ruclips.net/video/VD1ftnqW9vE/видео.html
wonderful video. i have learned some new ways to use4 block patch and panels to make a quilt. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
I am digging that wood looking fabric. It sent me on a mission to Amazon...I'm an addict.
I love woodgrain ...
hope you found it

Love the panel and the way you used the 4 patch as a second border! 💗 Thank you for sharing. 😊🍁🍂🍃🍊🦃

Love it
What is the little hand thing on your corner of your cutting board?
It from ikea
It’s a safety thing for corners
Where or who fix up your machine with that table? That is awesome I would love to have my machine sitting in wood and with that green board.

See steady grid glide

It was from Hobby Lobby and was most likely brother sister fabric. Email me, I may have an extra. Thank you for watching.

How does the farcical stick to your wall?
My design wall is made of pink insulation board wrapped in flannel and put up on the studs in my unfinished basement as faux walls.

Im curious. Do you sell your quilts or just give to friends & family?
I do not sell them..... I usually give to family or friends/ or donate to charity
Where did you get your extended table for your sewing machine?

Hi April, what width did you use for the strips.
April is it 6.5 x 6.5
