Colkilt, thank you so much. I recently purchased Onkyo S3800 and had no idea how to bitstream from my PC. Followed the steps exactly and the display changed from PCM to Dolby TrueHD.
I am not sure if he knows what he is doing. You can get the same results much simpler thus: 1. Download and install MPC-HC from mpc-hc.org, version 1.7.13 comes bundled with LAV filters and defaults to hardware video decoder once installed. 2. Inside MPC-HC go to View->Options->Internal filters, Audio Decoder button. Check the audio formats to bitstream. 3. Close MPC-HC and open it again. Test a video file which has an audio format from the selected above. So now every time you activate the audio connection of PC to receiver, choosing the receiver audio output from within Windows, MPC-HC will bitstream the audio formats chosen in (2) and the receiver will show it accordingly. No need to download codecs nor to setup external audio filters.
Worked perfectly on Harman Kardon AVR 1610S with HKTS 16BQ speakers. I had to download HAALI CODEC by myself but it is okay. Thank you :) Edit: One more thing. Do not select CUVID! It does not load some local subtitles. Select NATIVE for video render.
Hi Gerrit, can I ask you about the bitstreaming menu, when we choose Dolby TrueHD, does that also covers Dolby Atmos? Because there is no Dolby Atmos listed in it. I am trying to understand the set up before I really go for a HTS.
Thank you so much buddy for the kind information. Let me start from the beginning (2016)I connected my laptop to my av receiver thru the hdmi cable, but it’s showing as pcm. And i tried some of the DTS sound track which i had on my laptop. But nothing happened only I could listen stereo. I gave up.😅... i made a plan to make a Dolby atmos theatre in my house(2018). So I googled, watched a lot videos, made a list ( projector,av receiver, subwoofer, 7.0 speaker set, and a Xbox one s) to build up my theatre. Why i chosen Xbox is because my laptop can’t pass thru 5.1 ( it was a bad perception of mine). Now i have saw your video , I’m not going to buy a Xbox but follow the steps which you showed on the video. Let me see what happens... I will come back to you if something wrong 😅😅😅
Hello Nice guide. I got the trueHD soundtrack to work but when the reciever get a dts MA signal it says dts ma in the display but it is blinking on an of and there is no sound, what could be wrong? Thanks
question sir I have a 7.1 setup for my home theater system (not pc like this vid is about) and I was wondering if you can help and answer some questions for me. my blu ray player when set to bitstream under dts only outputs dts 3/2.1 on my receiver but when I select pcm on blu ray player it displays pcm 3/4.1. how can I get it to display dts 3/4.1 on receiver like you did? I know you are using a pc, but sound is sound maybe I am missing something you can help indentify.
Dolby Truehd/Atmos Bitstream vs PCM So I cant help but notice my OPPO, much like every player, handles Dolby Lossless different than DTS HD. When set to LPCM the sound is noticeable lower than when bistreamed. DTS HD whether decoded or bit-streamed sounds identical. What gives?!
I find it quite ironic how poor the audio is in the video considering the subject. I had Windows and RUclips maxed and receiver volume at 20, which would be painfully loud on any other source.
I had to download the Haali Media Splitter codes and the LAV Audio and Video decoders: Haali: haali.su/mkv/ LAV: github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/tag/0.68

Perfect! Thank you so much! Works perfect for me. Denon AVR-1610 + GTX 970. I had to google and download each of the filters, but works great now!!

@@SuccessforLifester dolby true hd for home contains atmos metadata your reciever decodes it
will this software convert everything to that format of just allows for hardware decoding.

Yes buddy. I have done that. Your receiver will show Dolby atmos if you follow the above step
nevermind figured it out had blu ray secondary audio selected making it 5.1
