Keith was killing shit. Point blank. You cant look at that 86 class and not put Keith at the forefront in terms of sickest styles. The nigga gave inspiration to be different. Sick shit. You will never experience hip hop more advanced unless your create yourself. These cats were beyond MC's. They were creating.
100% on your statement, I used to play their songs over and over. I loved the fact that they were rapping about total different topics and completely new style. Awesome times that miss.

Man Im 42. I think I was 17 or 18 when I first heard this. This Kid had moved from the Bronx to Southwest Detroit & I was Turned out instantly. Big Up to whoever posted this old Mix. DJ RED ALERT & ULTRAMAGNETIC Kept me alive.
Being from Allendale South Carolina I had to wait for family or friends to get the tapes down here . Then South Carolina State 90.3 began to have DJ s on Saturday nite lighting up the wheels of steel.
man i thought i was the only one listening to wbls and dj red alert in detroit. ibrought the mix tapes daily to the west side!!!!!!! A kid from newark taught me how to dj,im 50 now and i can still kill the wheels of steel
YOOOOOOOOO! I was 11 when this was on the radio. Takes me back to the days sitting by the stereo with headphones on recording every weekend. Then playing it on the walkman Good lookin out.
ULTRAMAGNETIC MC'S were ahead of their time, I used to play their songs over and over. Saying to myself wow amazing words, flow. they were rapping about total different topics and completely new style. Awesome times that I miss.
Aye, I was 14 when I heard this on a 98.7kiss FM tape my home boy taped when he went to new York in December 88. We live in Trinidad in the Caribbean. I was all on this and hip hop on a whole since I heard the message from grand master flash and em. Still a hip hop head to this day. WORD!!
The Ultramagnetic MCs with the 1 and only DJ Red Alert. I'm from Hamilton ohio. Heard this back in the late 80s. I loved getting mixtapes from NYC back then as we had no radio stations in the Cincinnati or Dayton Ohio area that mixed or rarely played any rap back then
Gotta agree with noomega and chlibhoops. I remember being locked on kiss fm every saturday just to hear what's next. These cats took the game from where it was to where it is now. They proved to the world you can be your self and still make it big!
BK2BX I think this on is better than the album. I was riding in a 83 Bonneville in Jamaica Queens the night this dropped. Nice off the OE and herbs...memories.
@@highfived It was on the 1988 Red Alert We Can Do This compilation album. I had the tape. The album cover is shown at the end of this video. It's also on a remastered version of Critical Beatdown.
Red Alert smashes this track! I enjoy this mix better than the original! Red rides it out just short of two and a half minutes before Keith finally spits over this stupid funky Ced Gee heater! This Red Alert album is one of my favorite mixes of all time! Heavyweight original foundation type stuff here.
That was Red's style if he really liked the track. He would repeat the intro a couple times like most radio DJs, then he would let the first verse ride and bring it back from the top. It is a lot harder to cut and scratch with radio station turntable setup, plus the whole city was listening and your direct competition was Mr. Magic and Marley Marl in their prime. Red did it every week - other areas can boast they had 24 hour hip hop radio stations before NY but they didn't have Red Alert.

lol...you didn't know? i had this version of of red alert's mix tape. still got it on tape in the basement. 1988. 2pac and dre was on some beat bitin bullshit, no love for that clownish california love
MrSnappyJones the point ced used it more creatively, Pac didn't even create the beat it was drew and he basically just looped the original, listen too the and see what I mean it's exactly the same except for lyrics.
Those were the days. I miss the 80's East Bonx and Lower Manhattan NY, South Beach Miami Beach Fl and South West Detroit. Shit's not the same. Total piece of shit people diffrent world.

This IS not the album version.. Folks slept on Ced
The album version was a remix. The original is on the single with Mentally Ma. This version has a better verse by Ced Gee than both versions combined

Paul C actually produced this with CED you can hear his fingerprints all over this
"California love" was sampled from this?
Stan Howser sounds like it but this was originally sampled from an older song i think its called "woman to woman" might be wrong
