You're not arrogant at all. This is your field of expertise. You have always made it clear these are your opinions and that everyone is free to wear their hair however they want. You are giving valuable information to those of us who struggle with hairstyles and want to understand why they do or don't work for us. I think you are amazing and do a wonderful job here on this channel! ❤
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that and I always appreciate your continuous support. Having folks like yourself in this community are part of what makes it so amazing!
ARROGANT??? maybe anyone who thinks that of you should move on to another channel. After all seems to me the person posting that complaint seems pretty ARROGANT and negative. Just saying. 😊
I don’t think the haters can hear properly. You are always humble and helpful. You never tell us we must do what you say, you only suggest ideas that MAY be helpful. I love your content! Thank you!
Licensed stylist here who’s been watching you for a few years… I love your honest and clear explanations of these haircuts and styles. The ppl making ugly comments are being a bit too general and just don’t understand how tailoring a not so great short style can make it much more flattering to the eye. Ps- I love the amount of detail you go into. Some of us love a visual with a thorough explanation and don’t want you to “get to the point”. That comment was not speaking for the rest of us who don’t want our hair chopped up carelessly. Thanks for making quality content with your own flavor added👍 👍
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate this. I find stylists can be the hardest on their peers. So I always take hairstylists support deeply to heart! I’m really glad you appreciate the deeper explanations. That’s the way I learn so it ends up being the way I teach. I totally get that it isn’t for everyone but I do think, it’s a better route to ensure that people understand the why instead of just the what.
As a licensed cosmetologist for over 10 years, I agree 💯 with everything said here. Great examples of what doesn't work, why, and how to correct. Excellent video.
There's a major difference between dictating and making recommendations. And you always say that people should wear their hair the way they want and what makes them feel comfortable. As a former stylist, I personally think your tweaks are spot on, so please continue to help people understand the logistics of what goes into a good cut and style. You do you by helping us do the same! * blows kiss*
Thank you so much for this! I truly appreciate that a ton. As I always say, every supportive comment means a ton to me, but I hold stylists comments in a special place. So thank you very much for that!
i was surprised by the ending to your video. this is the first time ive seen your videos but i was struck with how you come across. humble, caring, genuine, polite, not looking to be a peacock youtube star. so was surprised to hear other people dont feel the same. high road is great, completely ignoring...better...keep doing you, you're just fine!
I love the way you explain everything in detail-that’s how all teachers should be. I’m not a professional stylist but in all walks of life, you learn more by explaining in detail. There is nothing worse than going into a job not knowing everything that it entails. And, yes, you do not have to watch these videos. I do believe (whether you agree or not on his methodology) you probably learned “something”.
Thank you! I appreciate this a lot! I totally understand I talk a lot! That's fair, but I prefer a deep explanation rather than me having to ask tons of questions to get the answers I need. SO, that's how I teach things. I'm glad to hear you like that too!
@@justinhickox I’ve done a lot of training in the corporate world and detail has always been my strong suit. Thank you for providing your time and interest in helping women with hairstyles.
I am not a hair stylist, just a normal person wanting to look the best I can. I live in Australia and found your channel last year when I was looking for a new hairstyle. I continue to watch your videos because of the knowledge and depth you go into and if I was younger would have gone into hairdressing because of your inspirational videos. You are an amazing teacher. We need more people like you, so please continue to do your tutorials and THANK YOU for investing your time into them, we truly appreciate you 🙏
I don’t do hair, but when I teach, I always think it’s important to tell the “why” of things. People are more likely to learn (and retain) something if they understand the “why”.
Justin you do not come off arrogant at all. I would never describe you that way. We, your viewers, are here for your opinions. Please keep 'em coming. You are VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that. It’s funny, I received a comment from someone a couple of weeks ago, saying how terrible I was, and how stupid the video was, etc. When I clicked on their profile, I realized they also have a RUclips channel. I quickly responded with “your opinion is yours, that’s fine. The sad part is someone who has their own channel likely knows how hard it can be to put yourself out there. It’s unfortunate that you feel the need to be so rude about it”. Within less than five minutes that comment was taken down by the original poster. Once people realize that you have the ability to respond to them, it’s funny how often they get very quiet about their very loud opinions! Lol.
I SO appreciate hearing from a professional what tends to look good or not good on more than 90% of people. My sister in law told me in 1992 that I “need to stop the 80’s hair thing”. I was a bit insulted in that moment, but a couple months later when I got a new haircut/style and endless compliments, I was THANKING her! Making suggestions is NOT being arrogant…it’s being HELPFUL! ❤
Far from arrogant. Your in-depth descriptions help me learn and style my hair better. I now go into my stylist with concrete descriptions of what I want AND what I don't want rather than showing a picture and saying "I want this". I enjoy watching you and learning from you. Please keep being YOU! Thank you
23 years here as a licensed stylist. There was a time I taught the A line cut to other stylists. You are absolutely right in everything you said. We get requests for all of it, but movement with no dramatics is the most beautiful. And you are also right when you say there are are exceptions.
Thank you so much! I typically don’t like to give any time to the negativity. However, I am big on accountability. And sometimes I think it’s easy for people to make comments because they believe that they are anonymous. So for me now I can laugh at these comments and not take them too. Seriously But at the same time I prefer to let people know you are not anonymous on this channel. There is accountability for what you say. So act as if. I appreciate your support a ton.
I love how rude people are when a professional who has worked in the industry for years , get up set about the free advice you are giving everyone. U can’t please them all. I agree w u on all these bobs honestly
Actually, I'm a stylist myself and you are absolutely right and clearly very skilled at your profession and I totally appreciate your comments and opinions🎉
As usual, great video! Your reservation…and holding back on responding to negative comments shows you have class! We subscribers love you, and your content! A LOT of what is shared on RUclips is opinion! I think that is healthy! Keep up the good content, and keep on explaining! We love it! ❤️👍🏼😎
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that. I really don’t like to give negative comments any attention. However, sometimes I think it’s just funny. I really appreciate that. I have people like yourself in my community! Thank you so much for being here!
I have learned a lot from watching your videos. I’m lucky to have a great hair stylist. She has implemented some of your ideas in my hair style and I am very happy with my new style. Thanks for doing these videos.🙏
I like how you handled the unwanted comments. I commend you for handling them with grace. Also I like your video. I am always looking for ideas for haircuts for myself. Thank you for explaining why certain haircuts will not work but coming up with solutions and alternatives. I appreciate it!
I know I'm not the only woman who struggles with her hair and finding a new style every so often. You are exactly what I need when I'm searching for that new look. I love your explanations of all the different styles. Thank you and keep up just as you are!😊
As someone who has been wearing a bob haircut since 2007, I have learned a lot about them. I completely agree with you. I have also learned that many stylists do not cut them the same way which is frustrating. Thank you for all the information!
I agree! In my personal experiences, I've had more 'bad' bobs than good. I love bobs, and boy does it make a difference when someone knows what they are doing-great video!!1
I have worn a bob haircut of one variety or another for several years, and have had some of these "mistakes" inflicted upon me by adventurous hairdressers. I agree whole heartedly with your analysis, and although changing some fundamentals from time to time, I now stick to some simple "rules", and am much happier!🤩
I love your channel and appreciate your evaluations. It is very common for stylists to try to pressure you into a cut you don't want and you end up hating it. You give us insights in to why we shouldn't listen to them. Thank you for your advice.
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that. It’s funny, I’ve had clients that got upset with me because they would come in and tell me to do whatever I want. In the situation, I typically ask the most questions. I’ve always felt, it’s a relevant what I think a client should wear. It needs to be a style that they feel good in. Where I come in, is helping them adapt the hairstyle they want to work best for them.
Keep doing what you’re doing, Justin! I really enjoy hearing you share your extensive knowledge and experience with us! Love the outdoor videos too! And, don’t worry about those “trolls” out there spewing their negativity and complaints. They have nothing better to do with their lives!
I've been doing hair since 1979, & I agree with your assessment on the Bob haircuts. Unfortunately a lot of the "younger" generation of hairstylists assume they know better than the rest of us! The attitude I've always had in the industry is that, you're never too old to learn something new, or old in some cases, & if you think that you know it all.. then it's time to find a new profession! Kuddos to you for your amazing contributions to all of us! Thank you! Miracurls
I found a good hairdresser but she treated me like a number, whisked me in and out, and could never remember who I was, even mistaking me for someone else and telling me to leave, when I had just booked the appt about an hour earlier. So I just can’t go back to her. When you’ve had me in your chair multiple times for 30-45 minutes each time, but you can’t ever remember who I am, it’s rather insulting. I’m a person, not a number. Thank you for the excellent tips.
I’m sorry that you were treated so poorly! No person should be ignored or treated so inappropriately! Even if you’re a difficult client, you “kill them with kindness!” Unless you have caused some serious faux pas ! It’s there loss, and reputation at stake, & if they continue to treat clients like this, it will get out, and it will hurt their business in the long run! Sounds to me that you’re the lucky one! Ask around! Word of mouth is the best advertisement! ❤
I don’t think you’re arrogant I think you’re here to help and you’re not telling women what to do with their hair you’re giving them ideas to improve what they do. And I appreciate it very much.
Your video just randomly came up and I watched it and wow I can't believe you have some people spewing such horrible comments - I thought your demeanour and advice was wonderful - gave me a lot of food for thought (and a new channel to explore). Finally thank you for being yourself and sharing your amazing knowledge, it's like a breath of fresh air!
To those of us who do not cut hair, all of your analogies are very helpful. If we want to change or improve our personal look, the more info the better end result. Really like your channel😊
I just came across this video. I really appreciate you explaining, in depth, what you mean AND all of the pictures you include to show us what you’re referring to. It’s very helpful to those of us who are not hair stylists and just trying to get their own hair to look better! Going to go look at more of your videos now - thank you!
The thing i loved in this video is that you took the styles that we would ask for and showed us how to get what we want but so much better. I just went to a new stylist that did the exact same thing and I'm so happy with my cut. If she'd given me what I asked for without explaining why she thought i should modify it, I would have been so unhappy. She was very experienced and she was right. She wasn't pushy and I know she would have cut it my original way if I had insisted but she had valid explanations.
I wish youtube supported pic attachments so you or others could attach pics of their hair with their comments made! I’m so curious to see how your hair turned out now :)
I appreciate your videos! You have made a huge difference in how I wear my hair and I’m loving it! I get tons of compliments on my hairstyle ❤ and I love how in depth you get, it’s fun to learn something new.
This is the best kind of complement I can hear! I really appreciate you trusting me and I’m so glad to hear that my videos are having a positive affect for you! Thank you so much!
Justin you are the number one stylist I listen to, besides the fact I love when your wife pops on! I have learned so much from you. I cut my own hair so I appreciate all these tutorials. We learn. If I lived near you I definitely would let you cut my hair and that is big for me. Since a stylist ruined my hair over 25 years ago I never let anyone touch my hair and went in a huge mission to teach myself to - but you I’d trust so keep these vids coming. I love them. And keep talking a lot so we understand. You are really cool! 😊
Regarding comments read. First of all you ALWAYS say there is always the exception. I personally like that you over explain. If I were a hairdresser I might not. But I know nothing and your explanations help me know how to explain to my hairdresser. Thanks - You're great!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that. I think you’re spot on. This channel was never created for hairstylists, it was created to speak to clients. So I have to assume that people have no idea what I’m talking about and therefore I dive deeper into explaining things so that people understand why I make the points I make. I’m so glad it’s working for you! I appreciate that support.
I learned a lot about bobs from this video, in fact I’m putting together the style for my face from the information you given me right now. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Justin Tonite is the first time I have heard or seen your videos explaining hair styles, haircuts etc. I just want you to know I do appreciate the info you are sharing to those of us who search out answers from Intelligent, Legit KNOWLEDGEABLE & EXPERIENCED PEOPLE in this field of expertise. Thank you for taking the time out to respond to questions & assist in problem solving advice &/or questions & problems we may have in regards to our own hair, styles & what may or may not look flattering (in General) when considering face structure & other attributes each person has uniquely. I have even read where Professionals in your area of expertise also agree with the knowledge you are relaying to us. ....And of course anyone who "clicks on" & may not agree with what they are hearing from You, a Professional With quite a bit of experience, also has the option of "clicking off" or ignoring what you say without being rude, indignant or hateful I DO Not hear or see the Arrogance or any indications of you FORCING , Pushing or telling us what we MUST do with our Hair or Hair Syles in any of tutorials I have heard. Many (including Myself) appreciate the info you are giving us. Thank You
This was great. I’m 51 and I’ve worn my hair in some version of a bob for most of my adult life. This helped me to be clear about why some of my past cuts didn’t work. I also just watched the video on medium cuts, and even though I rarely let my hair get past my shoulders, that helped me understand why the layering didn’t work on some of my cuts
Justin, we cant imagine anyone assuming you're arrogant or anything but a highly skilled professional! We depend on your experience, advice, and clear and detailed explanations. Most everyone here genuinely appreciates your efforts to steer us away from dreadful styling mistakes! Thank you Justin for all your hard work, for all the instructions and tips; and for taking us on adventures with you into the wilderness!!! We love seeing your handsome face and hearing your cheerful voice in our house regularily! Much Love and Gratitude from all the Tucker girls! 💕 ♥ 💕
thank you Justin, you are not arrogant or dictating style. I watched your video because I was looking for help and advise, and I got what I was looking for! For those critics, why are you watching if you don't care for his advise or don't agree with Justin's style sense?
2:28 I love how in depth you explain haircuts. I like to understand the why behind them. Being one who has had more than my fair share of bad haircuts, it helps me explain better the end result I'm after. Not every stylist runs their fingers through your hair. They just start whacking. Or I should say hacking away. Been butchered way too many times. And I still paid. 😢
I started watching your videos about 2-3 months ago. I was looking for some do" and don'ts about short hair for women over 60. Your video using your mom as the model hooked me. I love your candid talk and real life examples. I'm mature enough to know I can take it or leave it as I choose! I use several of the products you have recommended as well and they have worked great! I use the BB Styling Cream and the Clay as well as your drying technique to give bend to short hair. You're doing a great job and if people don't like what you ay they can watch something else! I live in Texas and we don't put up with that kind of crap.
Hi Justin, Thanks for a great video detailing how subtle changes can make a big difference in various "bob" cuts. I don't find you arrogant, personally, I appreciate your direct and detailed nature. Since I am growing my hair out and looking to change it up a little for fall I was looking for ideas and watched this video, and was glad I did. You provided the details I was looking for in a few cuts I would not consider without the changes you suggested (with the why included), so thanks for that! I found a great cut and color combination in the video as inspiration to bring with me to the salon next week. If people do not like the content, they are free to move on to another video 🤣🤣🤣
I appreciate all the tips you give us for our haircuts. I think you got to the point really quick and giving us enough detail to actually use the info you give us.
I actually like your detailed explanations!! Definitely not too much! It suits my need to understand the depth of what you’re explaining more clearly! My father was a hair stylist in the 40’s through 60’s in San Francisco. Love hearing your valuable information! Keep doing what you’re doing!!
My hair used to be thick enough to layer but with age it has become too thin to layer. For the last haircut I got, it was recommended that instead of making a front downward slope, that as you say requires layering, I should get a slight U-shape front and no layers. Well I was sceptical lol, but why not try it. It looked amazing! So could you please include discussions regarding thinning hair? Thanks for your expertise and excellent explanations.
Oh my!!! I so agree with you! I have to wear a hat to work everyday and it has caused my hair to thin terribly:( I need a new style but it's so hard to find a style with thin hair! I have plenty of length but I'm thinking it needs to come off! I also have a full face:/ so there's that as well! Please give the thin haired gals a little advice, PLEASE???
Just discovered your channel. I agree with your expertise on how not to wear a Bob hairstyle. Beautiful hair has movement at any length. And those mean comments, not worth your valuable time to respond to.
I’ve been seeking out the best stylists for my hair for four decades now for bobs, so I do have the cumulative knowledge to say that this stylist is an expert. You WANT that. He is not arrogant, not in the slightest AND he’s not a bs’er, he knows his stuff. I wish he were my stylist right now. Subscribed.
I just saw this in my feed and am impressed with the fact that you explain why you feel a hairstyle does not work and then explain how to make it work with some modifications. I just subscribed and am looking forward to watching your previous videos as well as the new ones. Can’t thank you enough for sharing these tips. 🥰🌻
Regarding this week's video and last week's comments: Don't change anything!!! I love how you explain things! I'm not a hair professional, but I do have hair, and it's a constant challenge. Your videos make me feel better and give me ideas. I even borrow some of your genius when I'm talking to my hair stylist! As for the indoor/outdoor thing...I have no preference. 😂❤
I stopped at 12:30 to make this comment. People who disregard your stylist opinion do not understand that this is your craft, your passion, and your expertise. I found your site because I'm a 64 yo woman with long gray hair (3" below shoulder), very thick and can get very 'frizzyful' in the humid Missouri weather. I'm surfing for a cut that I think would work for me. Your advice is very helpful. So stfu to the haters!💕
I think you are fantastic. You take the time to put these videos up for consumption. Those who aren't pleased with them don't have to watch. But I find your observations great, having been a hairdresser in my earlier years. And you are NOT dictating what everyone must do - you are only voicing what you have found to be the best techniques for whatever topic you are talking about. Just ignore the haters. You have enough people who appreciate you.
I like your videos on Bob cuts, they’re very helpful. Over the years, I’ve had bob cuts that either looks terrible or good on my square face. I would love to have the angled Bob, and I’m growing my hair until it is long enough to get that cut.
Hey Coco T. I have had the angled bob for over 10 years. I am 64 and this cut is the cut for me. I hope when you can get it that you love it as much as I do!
I completely agree with your advice Justin. 😉 I recently cut off over half my hair, went back to a bob haircut, and I get tons of compliments from complete strangers wanting to know who cut my hair. My bob does not fall into those "don't do" categories. I'm always amazed at how people are so quick to jump on the "drama bandwagon" when all they have to do is move along, and look at something else. Sometimes the truth can sting a little, but you were polite, cordial, and very respectful in the delivery of your helpful message. Yes, YOU are the expert. Have a blessed day! 👏
Just like the “wash, set and spray” set will always be around, so will someone who “disagrees”. I’ve always admired haircutters/stylists (I don’t know the preference). They’re creating living art under a time constraint. Who else does that? The more detailed explanations you give the more consumers understand, have their eyes trained and can have something to show a cutter/stylist what they want. Insure your hands, keep cutting and explaining.❤
Always take the high road, I agree. Thanks for the great videos, and great hair advice, Justin! I do enjoy your videos and find them so helpful. Love your positive attitude!
I am Hairstulist from 1990 !!!! And I absolutely appreciate your professionalism !!! You are FANTASTIC !!! Thank you very much for your work to make this Channel !!!! 🙏👌👍
I had a nail salon for 20 years before they were so popular. I understand how people try to tell you how to do what you do…lol…I love your input..I just found you ..thank you..
@@justinhickox it was in Tri-Cities Washington…eastern Washington..I am retired now…it was called Nail Biz. Back then people told me I could never make it as a “Nail Salon”. Well we were a hit and I had a wonderful career.
Super helpful & not 'arrogant' or 'too talkative' , if anything I prefer the more in-depth explanation on why certain style bobs work or don't work. I love a bob cut & have worn one at many times over the years but not one stylist has ever given me the brilliant info you have. Nice one.
Justin, you always provide your professional opinion (in a very entertaining and unoffensive manner) with strong visuals and ways to adapt or improve the overall results. I am new to wearing a bob hairstyle, and I really appreciate your ideas. I love your videos with outdoor locations! When traveling with my hubby I am always taking photos and thinking to myself, "This view doesn't suck!" (Unfortunately, mean people do suck.)
I’ve been licensed since 1984 and I found this video to be informative. It wasn’t anything I don’t already know, but I can appreciate the time it took for you to make this video and I’ll go one step further..you are obviously a very skilled hairstylist with valuable pointers to offer those who’ll listen. Don’t give these uneducated fools any airtime by reading their comments. Boo yah!!
Justin, I started styling hair in 1978 while still in high school. I always felt that sharing knowledge was the best way to improve my abilities and continue to help improve the industry. However, I am disabled and can not stand to have any of today's stylists touch my hair. They are not being trained how to apply, process or shampoo out the color. I went home one day to discover the color still on my hair and scalp. Some stylists do not understand how to use end papers when wrapping a perm. Also are not familiar with guidelines and sectioning for a brilliant hair cut. In my day my clients and peers always praised my "perfect" haircuts. Whether male or female. So I love seeing your videos and your advice on what to look for in a great cut and style. You are not "handing down commands on how a woman should wear their hair. Only things to consider to improve their own choices for the styles they chose.😊 Much love and blessings to you and your wife.
As someone who is currently wearing a layered bob haircut I appreciate that you go in depth. It is your field of expertise after all. And it's free advice from an expert! Thank you.
Thank you for giving us the necessary information to be able to make a well informed choice when getting our hair cut and styled. After all, women worldwide spend much time and money in trying to make themselves look good with hairstyles, skin and makeup, and fashion. So of course we want your professional opinion when you are trying to help us look our best. Your channel is much appreciated, thank you again.
I actually enjoy watching your videos. I’m not a hair stylist, but you give great tips and suggestions which help many people. If I were close to you, I would definitely go to you to do anything with my hair. Keep up the good work and never let the negativity of the few stop you.
Justin, isn't your goal to help with PROFESSIONAL tips and guidance. I have never heard you attack anybody's personal style, so why do ignorant rude people think it's ok to personally attack you, calling your beard stupid OMG. I can only assume they aren't able to see they have the problem, not you. Thank you for delivering extensive and free content. Keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you so much for this! I truly appreciate it. I think some people just like to be keyboard warriors and are unhappy in their own life so they want to spread it to others. It’s truly unfortunate. I feel very blessed that I have a Community folks like yourself on my side! Thank you for that.
Jesus man! So sorry you have to deal with that kind of stuff. I’ll never understand the need to hate watch or say such horrible things to another person but I guess some people have issues they don’t want to deal with so they lash out at others. Just keep being you. Your subscriber base is large and we keep coming back for more so you must be doing something right. Much love and thanks for the content!
Thank you so much for this! I truly appreciate that support. I feel so lucky that I have a community here that is so supportive! Thankfully now, after years of doing this, I’m at a point where I can sincerely read these comments and laugh versus take them to heart. I feel worse for the people that write them as their life is clearly far harder than ours.
I’ve been hairdressering for 37 years now. Love my job and watch videos like yours for added inspiration. You’re never too old to learn. Cutting has evolved over the years. Usually for the better. Although in my experience, many people ask for the so called blunt bob, it doesn’t work a lot of the time. But some clients want it. Even though i sometimes plead with them to rethink! Take from the videos what you want lovely people. Always open your mind to learning. Thank you for your videos. ❤
I'm a little confused about all these nasty comments. They're dead wrong. This was a nice presentation and as a woman who wears a bob haircut and has for years I agree with every single point you made here. It's about the Aesthetics and the flow of it and making the hair move correctly and be flattering flattering. Well done.
This video popped up on my feed and i can appreciate it!!! I am a hairstylist and I agree with everything you’re saying. I like the do’s and don’ts. I 100% agree good layering adds value to any haircut especially a bob of any sort. Blunt one layer bobs do not have movement to them
Don't listen to the haters Justin, you give great advice. I got the Laifen hairdryer on your suggestion and my hair thanks you for that a million times over. I think it is awesome when you can film in the great outdoors with your lovely wife. Thank you for sharing your advice and expertise, it is muchly ; ) appreciated.
as one professional to another, this was probably the best tape, yet. You continue to amaze me. I love that you take the negative remarks with a smile. Can’t please everyone and everyone has a right to their opinion. However, I was always taught if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. L O L- oh yes I might be a little prejudice! However , If I felt that you didn’t do a great job, I would definitely tell you. Or at least give you some constructive criticism.❤
Exactly! Speaking of constructive criticism, they haven't been called tapes since the early 90's! LMAO!!!! You're my mom, so you can say whatever you want though. Too bad you raised such an arrogant ass kid though! LOL!
yes, I have been for MANY years (50+ ):) Seen a few changes 😁 STILL working 4- mornings a week and GOLF EVERY afternoon to end the day👍 Best retirement I could have👍
Bob wearer here 🙋♀️ your guidelines are well received. I have been doing too much of a curl at the end and now I see why I shouldn’t. Saved your reel. Thanks for taking the time to make it 😉
Hi! I just found your videos and this particular one will save me a huge hassle next time I get a haircut. I’ve worn a bob cut for years, sometimes short, sometimes long. At 68 years old I have found my favorite haircut is longer front and a little shorter in the back, easy to style and always looks good…to me.🤣🤣🤣 What I learned from you in this video is a few layers on the sides will give my hair an even better shape. Have a fun day and thank you! ☀️🌻
Hi Justin, I love watching your videos. Thank you so much for making them and explaining the why behind your thoughts and statements. Everybody can then make up their own minds on what they like and what their style is. I very much value your professional expertise and opinions. Please keep making these videos so I can learn from you. I appreciate you. All the best, illia 💕
Hi Justin, I have to say, I love how you explain in detail, you give the why and how which makes it easier to understand. Oh boy, you are the expert here, cutting hair since 1995 certainly makes you more than qualified apart from your professional training. If only all hairstylists in the world thought like you do, there wouldn’t be so many uncaring mediocre stylists creating disastrous hairstyles. Thank you Justin. 💙
Hey, thanks for featuring my photo in the #4 example of what not to do. I hear you about technique and all, but please consider that some of the more extreme versions of these hairstyles are worn by people who are typically eccentric artists or part of underground subculture. Subculture is culture. That said, it was still helpful hearing your explanations. All the best~
I've been trying to find the right cut for me, and watching your videos really helped me think about what I need. I haven't got my hair done in a salon in years. Now, at least, I know what I want when I do go. Thank you ❤
I’m 72 and have worn a Bob for almost 30 years. I’m surprised that I’ve adhered to all your positive points without knowing what was wrong or right. It’s just what I like on me. Short/tight stacked back, slightly longer, layered sides that are ever so slightly bowed in the middle & almost straight on the ends. (Incidentally, the insert photo is a wig, & nowhere similar to my bio style). Thanks for the lesson. Well done.
Jason, I have learned so much from you since I’ve been watching. Like how to properly dry hair, cutting bangs properly, different hair points, etc. Thanks for sharing your skill on this platform. I enjoy tuning in weekly. It doesn’t mean I agree with everything, but I do appreciate learning from your experience. A BIG thank you!
I want to thank you for explaining and showing us the difference between bob cuts and what to look for when getting one. Too often, you get a haircut and simply know it's not right, but you can't figure out why!
If you get one of these "don't" haircuts, and you love the way it looks - GREAT! Videos like this are for those of us who get cuts that we don't end up liking, and wondering what we could have done differently.
Exactly! You said it spot on. And honestly, if you get one of these haircuts, did I say you shouldn’t and you love it, you should absolutely rock it! At that point, ignore me completely, my opinion is 100% relevant. I’m so glad you caught onto this! Thank you for the support!
I have learned so much from your videos and your content is so relevant. Sad that people think they have to troll you. If you don't like the content, don't watch!
I've been a hairdresser since 1974 and totally agree with everything you said. Just found your channel today it's brilliant you made me laugh out loud at the comments section. Please please continue with the excellent work. I'll be back as Arnie would say.😂
Just watched this video (first time on your channel for the first time). While I don't have short hair, and it is up to each woman how she wants to wear her hair, I appreciate your professional opinions based on face shapes, and it's very helpful and appreciated!!
Thank you for your video. Haters gonna hate and they just can’t handle freedom of speech and self thought. Thank you for using your experience and expertise to assist many of us educating our style
Watch this video now!~ ruclips.net/video/w8xF1nquAOQ/видео.html
I agree 100% with you. I like your info. Get over yourself ppl
Wonderful podcast!! Thank you for this great information and showing us how to handle this problem. !!!!❤
Those women calling him arrogant? The irony is their comments were SUPER arrogant. 🤣 I got so much value from this video. Really appreciated!
So do I
You're not arrogant at all.
I second this!
ARROGANT??? maybe anyone who thinks that of you should move on to another channel. After all seems to me the person posting that complaint seems pretty ARROGANT and negative. Just saying. 😊
@@justinhickox I agree! And I like his beard. 🧔🏻👍😂
Yeah absolutely! Plus he's an honest dude.
Great information. I struggle to find a stylist that completely understands what bob cut is best for my face shape. Good points.
I don’t think the haters can hear properly. You are always humble and helpful. You never tell us we must do what you say, you only suggest ideas that MAY be helpful. I love your content! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that. And I’m so glad you understand all of this! Thank you.
I wish I lived near your salon......
What city are you in?
Me too!!
@@justinhickoxSecond time watching for me and I love your explanations, your beard, your hair color and your voice. I wish you could do my hair! 💕
A mi me queda súper bien y maravilloso este corte Bob 😊,corto atrás desde el cuello y largo adelante discreto,no exagerado
As a licensed cosmetologist for over 10 years, I agree 💯 with everything said here. Great examples of what doesn't work, why, and how to correct. Excellent video.
What’s a cosmetologist??
@@toomylight2311 NOT a hair stylist!!!!!!
@@diamondhfxizlit 😂😂😂😂
There's a major difference between dictating and making recommendations. And you always say that people should wear their hair the way they want and what makes them feel comfortable. As a former stylist, I personally think your tweaks are spot on, so please continue to help people understand the logistics of what goes into a good cut and style. You do you by helping us do the same! * blows kiss*
Thank you so much for this! I truly appreciate that a ton. As I always say, every supportive comment means a ton to me, but I hold stylists comments in a special place. So thank you very much for that!
I like your haircut, groomed mustache and beard! Men often look good with graying hair!
You’re not arrogant? So strange. You are sharing your years of experience. Good to have!
Thank you..to be fair, I can be arrogant at times I'm sure. BUT, I don't think that's what the comment meant. LOL!
i was surprised by the ending to your video. this is the first time ive seen your videos but i was struck with how you come across. humble, caring, genuine, polite, not looking to be a peacock youtube star. so was surprised to hear other people dont feel the same. high road is great, completely ignoring...better...keep doing you, you're just fine!
Unfortunately there are always a few.
I’m new to your spot but I do love all the detail explanations! With this knowledge I can tell my stylist what I would like. Thank you!
We need more people like you, so please continue to do your tutorials and THANK YOU for investing your time into them, we truly appreciate you 🙏
I agree. I’m also in Australia 😊
another aussie here - I love these videos, great advice and explanations.
First time tonight I've seen this video, hello I'm Australian too x
Excellent video.... South Africa 🌺
The fact that you let us know the negative comments makes me like you even more! I respect your talent and knowledge.
T, I agree, plus, if you do know what you want, some of them always do their own take on it and 8 times out of 10, you hate it.
Keep doing what you’re doing, Justin! I really enjoy hearing you share your extensive knowledge and experience with us! Love the outdoor videos too! And, don’t worry about those “trolls” out there spewing their negativity and complaints. They have nothing better to do with their lives!
lol I love the LONG explanation of the "get to the point" comment. Perfect!
Thank you!
Miracurls
I find it so hard to get a young hairdresser that can do a good bob. Really like this video and thankfully I’ve never had any of the 5! 😂
As my mom used to say about 'those' kind of people: "they are probably jealous, or just really unhappy". Love what you do. Inspiring and great ideas.
I like that you talk in depth! You’re an experienced professional, respectful and a nice person.😊
You're a darn great hairdresser in my book .... you 'get' shapes and face shapes 🙂😊
Thank you! I appreciate that a ton!
Hairstylist here, doing hair since 1985. I learn so much from you! Don’t change a thing! You’re the bomb!💕
Hi Justin
Tonite is the first time I have heard or seen your videos explaining hair styles, haircuts etc.
I have even read where Professionals in your area of expertise also agree with the knowledge you are relaying to us.
....And of course anyone who "clicks on" & may not agree with what they are hearing from You, a Professional With quite a bit of experience, also has the option of "clicking off" or ignoring what you say without being rude, indignant or hateful
I DO Not hear or see the Arrogance or any indications of you FORCING , Pushing or telling us what we MUST do with our Hair or Hair Syles in any of tutorials I have heard.
Right on Shelly Agrella!!!
I’ve been a hairstylist for 24 years & I LOVE your videos, comments & suggestions. I’m always learning from what you post. Thank you 😊
I wore that angle bob for 15 years it’s so hard to find someone to do it right. I agree completely with all you said. Thank you!
Great video, as always I really enjoy watching.
Just discovered your channel. I agree with your expertise on how not to wear a Bob hairstyle. Beautiful hair has movement at any length.
And those mean comments, not worth your valuable time to respond to.
Actually on my way to my hair lady now to discuss bobbing my hair so this was an awesome watch. Thank you.
Awesome! I’m so glad I can help. Can’t wait to hear how it ends up once you get the length you need!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that a lot. I try my hardest to take the highroad, sometimes I feel for the most part, I try!
I am Hairstulist from 1990 !!!! And I absolutely appreciate your professionalism !!! You are FANTASTIC !!! Thank you very much for your work to make this Channel !!!! 🙏👌👍
I love hearing what you have to say about our styles. ❤
Thank you! I'm glad I can help!
I had a nail salon for 20 years before they were so popular. I understand how people try to tell you how to do what you do…lol…I love your input..I just found you ..thank you..
Nice! You TOTALLY get it! I'm all about constructive criticism, but rudeness cracks me up and gets zero respect. Where was your salon?
Boo yah!!
Thank you! I truly appreciate that! It means a lot coming from a stylist with your experience behind the chair! I appreciate that support.
Thank you.
I have wavy hair so some 0f this stuff in the vido doesn't apply to me but same
Thank you for giving us the necessary information to be able to make a well informed choice when getting our hair cut and styled.
Love your ideas. I have had horrible bob cuts but right now , I love my hair. My stylist seems to be following your tips!
LOL!
Darn-meant “ Videos “ but stand corrected 😜
@@sharonhickox9882 So nice to have your son as our ''Hair Guru''! You did a great job raising him to be an honest kind gentleman.
Ms. Sharon Hickox, are you a stylist? Have you thought about your own channel? :)
yes, I have been for MANY years (50+ ):) Seen a few changes 😁 STILL working 4- mornings a week and GOLF EVERY afternoon to end the day👍 Best retirement I could have👍
Bob wearer here 🙋♀️ your guidelines are well received.
All the best, illia 💕
i was lucky enough to have a really cute bixie from a bob being over cut.
MUCHAS GRACIAS POR TUS CONSEJOS! MUY BUEN VIDEO😊
I have been a hairdresser for 38 years and love learning from you. When you think you can’t learn anything new it’s time to move on. Thank you.
This is the biggest compliment I could ever want! Thank you! You just made my week!!
So true!
Thank you ❤
Thank you for helping us become more aware of what we want in a personal hairstyle. ❤
You have been a tremendous resource for me post cancer...thinner hair regrowth. People think I have thick hair! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that. I guess trolls will be trolls!
Great video! I’d love to see this same video but pertaining to naturally wavy/curly hair.
Thank you for your video. Haters gonna hate and they just can’t handle freedom of speech and self thought. Thank you for using your experience and expertise to assist many of us educating our style
