@Speed_of_Sloth: I enjoyed the Lusitania episode, too, but I’m a fan of the old ocean liners anyway. It was nice to learn about another liner, too. There’s so much information out there about the Titanic but that era had many beautiful and noteworthy ocean liners.
Missed these! How about a sip in the garden with Max and Jose while the kitchen is being repaired? Jose can show off his featured plants of the week and then a drink (lemonade counts) and a chat! Sorry about the loss of your kitty, but your new friends look like they keep you on your toes. Take care of yourselves and don’t do too much. Your fans aren’t going anywhere 😊
Thank you Jose for subtitles. It is SO appreciated. Max, I would have loved seeing you do the pub interview on Sorted Food. I know you have plenty of fans that watch that channel. Thanks to you both for pursuing high quality content out every week. And Jose, you're absolutely right about work life balance. Looking forward to seeing your garden. Edited to correct 'pub interview' to Under the Cloche on Sorted Food
You are such a lovely couple, please keep doing this type of content, is very very amusing, light and fun. I love you guys so much, you make my days better. Lots of hugs and love from Mexico!!
Aw Jose you're a vibe. I completely relate to wanting to stay behind the scenes. So proud of y'all's hard work and grateful you have been able to share that with us! I just recently shared the Tasting History channel with my dad, who is in his 70s and losing his vision. He's a big history buff and I thought that the narration/editing would still be accessible for him. I know that you have been working on captions but your attention to detail carries through to the final product in a way that impacts accessibility in a positive way overall. Thank you so much!
My girlfriend and I absolutely love you guys. She’s obsessed with cats and I’m obsessed with Xmen 97, so this show had a nice treat for both of us. Hope you both continue to enjoy making these videos on both channels and no need to rush from I’m sure your real fans. We look forward to seeing you both next book tour when you visit Atlanta. I’ll bring some thing from our toy company as a gift and definitely donuts.
I’m in the uk , and unfortunately our bookstore’s our all so snobby … but it would be so awesome to see Max and Jose in the uk 🇬🇧.. let’s all get together and work hard to find a nice quaint , bookstore , that loves Tasting History with Max Miller as much as we all do 👍👍👍👍
Calders might do it. They are a drama bookstore with a theatre in the back. I used to have their details. Only issue is they can probably only seat 100. Upside though, right opposite the Young Vic and not far from Old Vic in Waterloo. Chances of a celebrity being nosy and walking in is about 80% ish?
I just came here to say that my partner and I genuinely do appreciate the subtitles, especially the little jokes that are added in with the emoticons and things like that.
I also love the ramen and outdoor cooking ideas. But the history of ingredients (ie from your gorgeous garden) might also be fun, and it'd require no cooking. And please remember, you have a community that loves you. If you need or want to take a week off to be present with each other and your new additions, we totally understand and have your back.
Jose, when you are taking care of Max, don't forget to take care of yourself! I really wish you were my neighbors! Though my garden would look pathetic next to yours. Though, I've only been here for a few months, and it was bare dirt when I moved in.
Loved the MatPat reference. Please... Jose, Keep Max happy and sane... work /life balance is so important... And we want Tasting History and Ketchup to continue
Jose - that garden is gorgeous. So much work has gone into making it work - without it being 'overstuffed'. I'm really impressed and you can tell from your arms that you've been lifting and moving things around to make sure everthing is exactly where it needs to be, Also, looking forward to the cover of the next book - can't wait to see Max on the front cover dressed up as Careme, Escoffier, Mrs Beeton, Julia Child, Alexis Soyer and Ferran Adria.... 😀
Always a pleasure to see Jose's smiling face. I have missed these little ketchup episodes! It's nice to catch up with both of you, and to know you're both doing well. I can't wait to see the new kitchen, I'm sure it's going to be lovely. Maybe we'll be lucky, and they'll come in early and under budget (well, we can dream). Jose, a dedicated tour of your garden would be really cool! But I also want you guys to take care of yourselves, and not get burnt out. We care, and not just because we miss the content, we want you guys to be doing well. Sending you both lots of love, and more for the kitties.
Your backyard garden is absolutely beautiful and the Lusitania video, while being longer than usual, was riveting. Sad, but also so interesting. Looking forward to your upcoming episodes!
José thank you so much for the video! I have missed seeing your cheerful smile. I am so glad that you are still having so much success in the garden. It is so nice to have fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables. They just taste better when they are freshly picked. I think it is because you can taste the love you put in. I really hope the renovations go quickly, having strangers in the house and all the dust and debris can be stressful so both of you take care of each other. Oh José, you are a shining example of what a husband should be. Supportive, attentive and making sure your source is taking care of themselves. I can't wait for your next episode, your work schedule and helping Max permitting. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤎🖤🩶🤍
Best of luck on the new kitchen. What I want you guys to talk about is either your favorite cartoons growing up, or let Max go into a rabbit hole about any archival research he has done. I was a history grad student once upon a time and one of the hardest things for me to do was NOT read every single document in the archives and go down EVERY single thread.
Welcome back Jose! Ur garden area is so stunning. We are still struggling with frost but it is nice to dream looking at ur space. Good luck to you both in the renovation.
I have a couple of peach trees in pots, here in zone 5, IL. They overwintered in my garage. Would love to see another garden tour and find out how the garden is doing. It's ok for you to grow tomatoes for fresh eating for yourself Jose! :) Love how you two support each other!
Max, im not a big tomato fan, but a fresh ripe tomato, still warm from the sun, sliced and salted between 2 slices of toast with a little mayo... the BEST!
Max and Jose, like other commenters are saying, please dont push yourselves!!! We understand good work takes time and we'd prefer you prioritize your life and health and well-being over work!! If ever you decide you need more rest or vacation, we'll be here waiting when you're back. 💕
It's true Max! Youre too pretry to not be on the cover! We should get a picture of you & José on the back! I watch all your episodes, & the medieval ones were so good, maybe the algorithm has to do with why some people haven't seen them? I love the travel episodes, & I am grateful for José's subtitles, since I find it easier to read along & understand more clearly. Wishing you all the best, & hoping that I will be able to go to your signing on the next tour!
Great to see José and Max together in a video. Best wishes for the kitchen renovation. Beef With Harvester Sauce (page 141 of the cookbook) is on schedule for Saturday's dinner. Wish me luck. Since it is spring I have fresh asparagus and I thought I would steam some wild rice (which is really a grass seed😏). If I live until the next cookbook is published (cancer returned) I will definitely purchase it.
Jose, so glad you’re back with this. I love your garden. David Austin roses are the best. And I also usually grow lots of heirloom tomatoes. Nothing is better than a warm tomato fresh from the garden. Max listen to Jose about work/life balance. He’s not wrong. 😊
I'm a dumb poop, and had no idea that this channel existed, and I'm delighted to have found it, better late, than never. The Tasting History Cookbook was a proud addition to my vast collection of cookbooks, and has brought me, and hungry friends, much pleasure. I would love to see you do something about about Richard Olney, the American in France who had such an influence on cooking from the garden, a huge influence on Alice Waters. Also the food writer, Clementine Paddleford, all but forgotten, who was passionate about American cuisine. Hello, Jose! I'm a crazy rose grower, and have many David Austin roses. My two favorites are The Ancient Mariner, and Lady Emma Hamilton. The latter is a real crowd pleaser. All the best to you both!
❤I LOVE you and ALL of your shows!!!❤ They are all brilliantly presented and educational! ❤ I love and appreciate the educational adventure in every show! I know that is a lot of hard work to do!!! Could you do a Johnny Depp- Pirates of the Caribbean, tasting the seven seas, and some dazzling survival dishes via shwash-buckling pirate travels? The pirate that was known as Black Beard, my great great great.... grandfather was said to have been given a jar of plum jelliy, from his loving mother in England, of which he religiously had one small spoonful of each day, but was enough that prevented him from having skirvy due to the vitamin C that it contained. ❤Also, could you do a Tasting History show in an actual Disneyland kitchen??? Is it possible to combine your kitchen environments with Disneyland? Would Disney be delighted and enthusiastically invested in a tasting Disneyland show? ❤ Thank you!!!
I worked in admin for a large corp. Most managers had a quick signature, but it was still of there personality. You are who you are and it comes out. I have a very simple signature. I've tried to change it, nope.
Aww, Jose's face when you mentioned losing your cat almost made me cry. I love you guys. I wish I could have met you on the book tour. Maybe next time. ❤
The Orient Express video... Being Belgian I was amazed by the Belgian connection. Leopold 2 was a monster. He also saw little Belgium as something that could punch above its weight. Ugh, blasted be those colonial times.
I love this soooo much! I just watched Max read mean comments and I know he said it was fun but I had a hard time listening to them. You and your channels are wonderful and I hope you continue for a long time.
YaY, a new episode of ketchup with Max and Jose (extra thanks, Jose!)! Thanks for a new episode; I know that you guys have been super busy, so the new episode is appreciated - especially while ramping up for a remodel! I'm so sorry for your loss of Jamie! You two, Circe and the new kitties are awesome. 🙂 Max; listen to your lovely husband - slow down a little! While your giving us a show every week is fantastic, you need to take care of yourself so that this remains enjoyable for you to do. The history and food are great but what makes the show really terrific is your having fun. If you get burned out and stop enjoying it, something will be lost.
Jose thank you for your hard work with the subtitles! They are appreciated. Also thank you for reminding Max to take time for himself. Max take as much time as you need and also some that you want. I would rather the creators I follow have a good work life balance and take time to make sure their mental health does not suffer than getting multiple videos a week. Although I also understand the need to make a living. So listen to Jose and find a good balance that works for you both. I love hearing and seeing updates about your cats. I have an orange feral cat who decided I was his momma, so much so that he taught our dogs to like him so he could come up to the house. I'm allergic to cats but also love them and have huge soft heart so we semi adopted him, got him fixed, feed him a little, made sure he had a warm dry place to sleep or shelter during the super cold winter. I Well he's decided i need more cats so he's brought 4 more. Yep four. He shared the small amount of food I put out for him. He taught all of them how to make the dogs their friends. I tried to scare them off, I really don't need more cats, but to no avail. One of them has totally bought into this, he thinks I'm his best friend. He follows me around. By this I mean he figures out which room I'm in and sits under that window and talks to me, keeps me company while I'm doing things. The other three are still cautious. But I'm trying my best to get then all to trust me enough to also get them fixed and hopefully find homes for them. If not i might have to set up my own RUclips channel so I can afford to feed and care for them. I would also love hearing about your garden and the things you are growing. I'm always a little jealous of those of you living in warmer climates.
Yes I agree, you guys need to do ketchup once a month (with plenty of cat appearances). Loved the Lusitania episode; don't mind you taking longer to explain complex recipes or history. When you plan your tours for the next book, hope you come to Denver. 🙂
Welcome back José. I missed you. Your garden reminds me of my grandfather's garden. He had every fruit and veggie growing in his garden. I loved going over there and plucking fresh figs, apples, strawberries, and more. You name it, he could grow it. I, on the other hand, can't keep a plastic plant alive.😂 It's so sweet that you put roses on Max's desk for him. And I'm glad you're keeping him from getting burned out. Some of the other creators I follow have put out videos stating they need to slow down and do less videos. It's important to have a good work-life balance, but if you love what you do, it can take over without you realizing it. I'm glad Max has you to keep that from happening. The new babies are adorable. Was that Milo at the end? That's the exact toy I got for my cat, and she loves that thing. Well, take care. I will be looking forward to garden updates and mean tweets episodes in the future.❤😊
I added more fruits to this years garden, figs and strawberries included! Apples are doing well, better than year one plantings. I'm excited to trying. And i've been eating a few cherries here and there.

I love these behind the scenes videos of you guys together! Also, I like to watch tasting history when I cook dinner, and my fella and I particularly liked the space food episode.
Thank you for your work, Jose. Your subtitles help me understand when Max shows old grainy clips from historical events and I can't make out what the people are saying. LIFE SAVER!
I got to meet Jose in Berkley Ca. after Max signed my book! I'm bummed I didn't think to ask you to sign it! well I was interrupting (waiting patiently! lol!) you when you were talking to a friend. The Book signings were wonderful. Thank you two so much.
I'm super bummed I missed the book tour event in my area, but no matter what I will make it to the next one. The book absolutely deserved to be on the bestseller list. I look forward to the next book, and I hope you'll do a cocktail section, I love those episodes. Milo & Olly are absolutely adorable chaos creators!
Hi Jose and Max! This is my first Ketchup experience and I loved it! Just subscribed! There are lots of things I enjoyed in this video and would love to see more of: gardening for sure. Container citrus fruits and other plants, like a small deep dive, would be so interesting. I love how you two are together: The ease of interaction and loving looks at each other (you do that!) kind of make me as the viewer feel like I'm in a safe and happy place. Thank you, Jose and Max ❤
Oh, I'm all about container fruits including citrus becauuuuse I don't have an orchard and keeping them in pots keeps the trees smaller. I'll make sure to call those out in next video.
So fun to see an update here. I think both of you should take some comfort in knowing you’ve cultivated a loyal audience. We will be excited to see new content no matter when it comes, so please don’t push yourselves too hard to meet self-imposed deadlines. I really appreciate the effort you both put in. And damn, Jose is such a real one for filtering out the hate comments- and putting so much work into subtitles. A lot of people I love are HoH and good subtitles make such a big difference for them! Seriously though. One of my very favorite RUclips channels updates maybe?? Once a month. And he’s doing great. Whatever y’all need to do to take care of yourselves and your kitties is what you should do. Much love from OH.
Love the garden. And Max, the transportation series was really interesting. Never thought the U-boats plundered ships and took home the spoils on leave.
You two gentlemen are just so lovely together! I had brought home my grandmother’s Ebelskiver pan from my brother in law’s home. Imagine the looks in the airport when bringing that suitcase through! It was X-rayed & found to be a little bit suspicious! I’m sorry about Jamie. What happened to Circe? Congratulations on the new babies!
When you’re next in England and you have to opertunity, visit Lincoln. It has a beautiful cathedral, at one time it was the tallest building in the world.
❤❤❤ very happy you've released another episode!! Watching you two interact is fantastic. It would be nice to watch you both cook together, continue gardening updates, and tours of your lovely home.
Now seems like a good time for pioneer cooking, camping meals, scout cookbooks, etc. Also, a cookbook on transportation meals sounds like fun! Either you could focus on ship dining, or you could take the journey through ships, trains, and planes via the dishes they would serve.
I’m so glad to know this channel exists. I watch a lot of tasting history videos and this is the first time the algorithm put this channel on my page. I agree with with Jose, your face is a huge part of your brand and if I saw a food history cookbook without your face on the cover I might skip over it but when I see Max I know it’s going to be a good book. I’m curious about institutional food, the history of food in hospitals and schools. I think that’s why the Ellis island episode is one of the best. And food from automats! They’re fascinating but I’m too young to have ever been to one. Kendra Gaylord posted a great video essay on her RUclips channel about automats, diners and cheap food. Thanks for all of your efforts and for modeling preventative mental health care!
I'm so happy that I found this channel. I already subscribe to Tasting History. I've skipped around on the videos from this chanel randomly by title for fun. But,I did start from the beginning originally.. I chose this one becaue Jose is in it and I hadn't seen one with him in it yet and it was a garden tour! Nice garden Jose! And then I found out about Jamie..😢 it's like going back in time. Because the kitchen remodel, I watched on the other chanel, as it was happening, but, now seeing it with the 2 of you when it is about to begin and the loss of Jamie, not know any of that from before is really weird..like tandomly weird. I'm so sorry about Jamie..
When I was in grad school, I noticed that a lot of my favorite books that I had to read for my masters degree in history (European/social & intellectual) were being published by Basil Blackwell and later found that they had a bookstore in London - also went to the one in Edinburgh.
Jose, you are such a cutie and seeing you two together is a true delight!!! Jose, I hope your new work projects are a huge success. Would love updates on the garden - especially the tomatoes. I could never figure out how to get them to not have tough skins. Also, jelly about your blueberries! 🥰
Thank you for your video, it's lovely to catch up with you guys 😊 but goodness me you are both so busy! Your kitties are so adorable 😍 Jose, the garden is amazing 👏 and all those roses, you could do an episode just on the roses alone! 🌹 Please wish Max a wonderful time when he comes to England, and he has made an excellent choice of places to visit. Yay! I've been looking forward to this for so long! I'm so happy to see José again!
Hi hi!
I'm shocked the Lusitania episode wasn't highly rated. I was fascinated.
Probably because the description of the disaster was so disturbing.
I love kitties sooo much! So sorry for your loss of liddle kitten. Don't worry its spirit lives on
I would watch that ❤
Wise men, doubling the duration estimate! May your renovation not be as painful as usual, and may the new kitchen be the start of years of memories!
Agreed. There’s a world of difference between AI transcribed subtitles and human subtitles.
The success of the Medieval Tavern food makes me wonder how many of your viewers are also D&D players. 😄
Or wish they were
Or SCA folks.
I have to think there’s some crossover with role players , cosplayers, larpers etc
*Raises hand* Although admittedly, I stopped playing D&D when I found the SCA.
guilty... ☺☺
11:58 omg! Thank you for still doing the subtitles every week José, they are VERY important for us non-US Americans folks!
So nice to see Jose in a video! Hey!
I love the special touch at the end with the credits, Jose. Max Miller kitchenless cook XD
Hehe, its true!
Chances of a celebrity being nosy and walking in is about
80% ish?
A museum maybe?
You have *snobby* book stores? Wow, we only have "oh thank god we've still got a few customers since everybody just downloads books now" stores.

Maybe come to Edinburgh - we have loads of bookshops, a well read populace and I def think there would be willing hosts!
Yeah. It’s surprising how stressful it can be to live in a jobsite, even if you’re not doing the physical work yourself.
Jose, when you are taking care of Max, don't forget to take care of yourself! I really wish you were my neighbors! Though my garden would look pathetic next to yours. Though, I've only been here for a few months, and it was bare dirt when I moved in.
I agree with no Friday episodes. Keep your sanity.
Omg...you two are tooo cute and ai love José's tiny hands❤❤❤❤ and I love how Max stares lovingly at José as he speaks.
Loved the MatPat reference. Please... Jose, Keep Max happy and sane... work /life balance is so important... And we want Tasting History and Ketchup to continue
Jose - that garden is gorgeous. So much work has gone into making it work - without it being 'overstuffed'. I'm really impressed and you can tell from your arms that you've been lifting and moving things around to make sure everthing is exactly where it needs to be,
Also, looking forward to the cover of the next book - can't wait to see Max on the front cover dressed up as Careme, Escoffier, Mrs Beeton, Julia Child, Alexis Soyer and Ferran Adria....
The lil bulbasaur and slowpoke chilling on the stove together is so cute!
Your backyard garden is absolutely beautiful and the Lusitania video, while being longer than usual, was riveting. Sad, but also so interesting.
Looking forward to your upcoming episodes!
It's always great to see you guys together, and please always put the well-being of your family first.
Hurrah it's Jose! We love to see you!
The energy of you two together is so so refreshing and lovely, thank you for posting this
Best of luck on the new kitchen.
I'm with Max - don't like raw tomatoes, but love sauces etc.
David Austen roses are beautiful 😊
David Austins are so great! My coworker Anna introduced me to them, and dozens of varieties later, I have filled the front yard.
I have a couple of peach trees in pots, here in zone 5, IL. They overwintered in my garage. Would love to see another garden tour and find out how the garden is doing. It's ok for you to grow tomatoes for fresh eating for yourself Jose! :) Love how you two support each other!
I'm glad everyones excited for more gardening tips :D
Max, im not a big tomato fan, but a fresh ripe tomato, still warm from the sun, sliced and salted between 2 slices of toast with a little mayo... the BEST!
The garden is marvelous, Jose! Blessings!
Thank you! I told Max the algorithm just has you on the down trend, and that's how it goes sometimes. Cyclical
@TheCynedd - I'm so sorry to hear about the cancer returning. Sending love and food vibes your way 💜
That was supposed to be *good* vibes. But with this channel I guess food vibes also work :)
Max and Jose, your love is palpable and we always have some boxes around for our cats! Be well everyone 💙
❤
Thank you!!!
Beautiful garden Jose!
I loved the 2022 videos review where he talked about the videos that did the best or “flopped.” It would be fun to see a 2023 review of the videos! 😊
While kitchenless it might be interesting to do a video on the history of the kitchen and how it has changed over time.
I love these Jose. Thanks for the behind the scenes. I would love a tour of the garden sometime.
Jose after giving autographs: “Elementary, my dear Miller!”
I worked in admin for a large corp. Most managers had a quick signature, but it was still of there personality. You are who you are and it comes out. I have a very simple signature. I've tried to change it, nope.
I've missed these!!! Once a month would be lovely❤
Awww, we want to talk to you too, Jose! Love the update. Mannnnnnn. Rose envy. That garden is a lot of hard work! 🌹
Aww, Jose's face when you mentioned losing your cat almost made me cry. I love you guys. I wish I could have met you on the book tour. Maybe next time. ❤
Always glad to see Jose in front of the camera. Greetings from Plano, Texas!
Greetings Tejano!
The Orient Express video... Being Belgian I was amazed by the Belgian connection. Leopold 2 was a monster. He also saw little Belgium as something that could punch above its weight. Ugh, blasted be those colonial times.
Oh I missed this. ❤❤
So glad to see you back. You were missed!
I love this soooo much! I just watched Max read mean comments and I know he said it was fun but I had a hard time listening to them. You and your channels are wonderful and I hope you continue for a long time.
words can't describe the speed & agility with which I clicked on this video
Haaay, thanks for the support.
It's Max and Jose once again, thank you Sir Max.
Max; listen to your lovely husband - slow down a little!
Well he's decided i need more cats so he's brought 4 more.
You two make such a great team. That's because you are great partners to each other. You are a joy to watch.
@@KetchupwithMaxandJose That's awesome! That's a dream of mine, to have a house with a beautiful backyard filled with trees and plants. You're living the dream.👍🏻😊
I'm so happy to see you both together on screen again. I'm so glad things are going well and let's keep the momentum going. Much Luv from Upstate NY
I will try!
Max, don't worry about Drinking History videos. You have enough on your play. Jose, great job on the subtitles. And please know we wouldn't ever blame you for looking out for your hubby.
Thanks for a great video. It was lovely to meet the adorable Milo and Ollie and SUPER impressed with your garden, it looks just gorgeous. Looking forward to more Tasting History episodes as well. Take care and enjoy your summer.
One last comment-yes-listen to Jose. Take time out as needed so you can avoid burn out and continue to enjoy making your wonderful (best on RUclips) show. Delightful, inspirational, and informative!
An outdoors/open fire cooking month would be great for a no-kitchen month!
José on camera! So nice to see you both!
I loved the tournaments episode, sad to hear that it didn't perform well
Maybe it was the thumbnail? Who knows, I'll keep spreading the word.
LIFE SAVER!
I love how proud Jose is of you. It's humble but shows.
I'd love to hear more about your work, Jose! Bad Batch has turned out to be a surprising and interesting show!
Great to see you back . Good luck with the new kitchen . You guys have a lovely back garden . Love your channel .
So good to see you back! The backyard is amazing. And we’re always up for gratuitous kitteh footage.
Aw, hello Milo, what a sweetheart. I’m really happy your book did so well. 😀🇨🇦💚🐶
Love what guys do!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your video, it's lovely to catch up with you guys 😊 but goodness me you are both so busy! Your kitties are so adorable 😍
Jose, the garden is amazing 👏 and all those roses, you could do an episode just on the roses alone! 🌹
Please wish Max a wonderful time when he comes to England, and he has made an excellent choice of places to visit. Some videos maybe from England? I would love to see that.
Good luck with the kitchen, and I'll see you next time on Ketchup with Max and Jose 😄
