Awesome cover version. Though the meaning of the song is tragic and even today almost 30 years after the death of Freddie Mercury. God bless you, Marc Martel, the one & my all-time favorite Christian Pop/Rock singer.
Okay am I the only one who seriously ADORES when he messes up and talks to us? Shows his normal guy side through this insane talent. Beautiful, humble man
Love it too. He's much better practiced onstage, but there's an "intimacy" in these livestreams when he's just playing for himself (and the many of us watching).
LOTS of people have heard of "The Last Song." Well, we did back in the early '90s, anyway. It was written shortly after Freddie Mercury's death. It's the story of a father's unconditional love for his son who's dying of AIDS. It was a MAJOR anthem for AIDS awareness.
And this was likely the first time in many years Marc played and sang that song during the past September livestream. As he said himself, "you guys gonna watch me struggle though this?". Yes, I will.
I KNEW I SAW YOU ON HOMEGROWN CAFE!!! Lol. And your from L’Orignal, and I’m from St-Isidore, and didn’t know that! PLEASE post your performance on HG Café
@@marcmartelcentraldefinitely an 8th wonder! I asked his radio DJ buddy/old classmate Dylan Black about it, and he said the building housing all the archives from that show were destroyed in a fire. 😢😢😢
My goodness... I love this Elton song! I’m so glad that Marc sang it! And what a beautiful rendition from him as always! Thank you MMC for uploading this! ❤️
@@Estrella21 No idea if the TV station even archived those tapes from the 90s. If anyone can ever find it, they should change their name to Indiana Holmes.
This song is featured in a tribute at the end of the movie ‘And the Band Played On.’ This movie is a documentary-drama set in San Francisco at the very beginning of the AIDS epidemic. It’s a bittersweet true story. It is my all time favorite film. I remember living through this terrifying period in history. Loved ones lost. Such a very sad time in history.

Fascinating that Marc chose to sing this song in high school. He didn't know much about Queen at all at this time. #fanfic? ;)
Awesome! Thank You!
Welp, I cried.... a lot. That voice on this song makes it extra hard hitting.

I tear up as soon as he starts with, “Yesterday”.
@@marcmartelcentral We always enjoy whatever he does! Even if he struggles! He should also rehearse... but the rawness is always beautiful... ❤️

Gracias Marc por compartir tu hermosa voz, la cual es muy parecida a la de Freddie Mercury. Un saludo Marc 😉.

I wonder how we can find footage of the talent competition in Ottawa? Marc says it was on a local TV station there.
