I was at this concert. It was trippy. They made the announcement about the show pretty late and then only sold 1/4 or even 1/6th of the Ryman's seating capacity (which isn't very big in the first place) for "social distancing" reasons. And they didn't turn the heat, either (even Nashville gets chilly in December). And no one was working concessions. But you know what? It didn't matter at all . . . the fact that the concert happened was a statement (albeit a subtle one) that the pandemic wasn't going to get in the way of worshiping Christ at Christmas. There were so few people in the building that there is absolutely no way that this didn't lose money big time, but they made it happen anyway. It's a little late, but thanks to Michael, Marc and especially the Ryman for "doing the hard thing" and putting this on. And to anyone reading this later, may you be blessed by their courage and live your life in the same way. Merry Christmas.

This song is featured in a tribute at the end of the movie ‘And the Band Played On.’ This movie is a documentary-drama set in San Francisco at the very beginning of the AIDS epidemic. It’s a bittersweet true story. It is my all time favorite film. I remember living through this terrifying period in history. Loved ones lost. Such a very sad time in history.
