I’m a patient of Dr.Pasternak and I went to him with a large substernal nodule, hoping to have RFA yet expecting a recommendation of surgery as I’d had from two surgeons in Montreal. After a very relaxed, informative consultation (and his review of previous ultrasounds, biopsies and a CAT scan) he recommended just watching it since I have no symptoms. My takeaway from that consultation and this great interview is that he is truly interested in what is best for the patient, not demonstrating his surgical or ablation skills. So refreshing! Thank you Dr. Pasternak and Jen!
I am from Canada, and I learned about Dr. Pasternak from your list of doctors performing RFA. I had a toxic nodule and my thyroid blood tests were really bad for a long time. My specialist doctor really pushed the radioactive iodine but I refused to do it. I did my research and I found out about the RFA. I had the RFA procedure in April and now my TSH, T3, and T4 are excellent. From my last ultrasound, it looks like the nodule is shrinking. So thank you Jen for educating us and thank you Dr. Pasternak for helping me!
These videos are so informative and educative, thank you Dr. Pasternak and Jen! We live in Vancouver, my wife has a large nodule, we can't wait to see any facilities open in Vancouver, is there any further news about that?
Can i ask Dr. Pasternak if there is a RFA in Winnipeg, Manitoba? And if it covers by healthcare of canada? If not cover by insurance how much will it costs so that I can save for the surgery. I have goiter. It bothers me a lot. I dont want a thyroid medication for the reat of my life. Hope you can help

Do you have hyperthyroidism caused by a toxic thyroid nodule? If so, yes, RFA is a treatment option. It is available in the US. To find a list of drs offering the treatment, please visit our patient community website, saveyourthyroid.org.
