The smell of a fresh books hard to beat. I have a kindle but I often find myself buying the books I love. I think it’s like owning a piece of art verses seeing a picture of that art. But I do agree that a kindle makes packing easier.
i love that you love and carry physical books. i remember you saying that books should reflect the author AND the reader, & that one day when you have a home library when people come round they’ll be able to see your fave quotes underlined, pages folded, etc

Jack is so unhinged I can’t 😂 I thought I was being extra carrying 2 books and acquiring one on vacation. Also, I’m tempted to buy books from airports. I’m only drawn to the good ones.
this is madness haha! if you're morally against getting a kindle, maybe a kobo is a way of keeping within your luggage weight limit while putting a middle finger up to Bezos. love these recommends and that you've made the effort to choose books relevant in some way to the cultures and areas you are traveling in.
I understand... But when traveling I always bring my kindle! Mainly because I usually buy books wherever I visit, and they become great souvenirs to me.
Jack!!! I know it's not book related, but would love to see watch a video where you explain how you planned such a trip! I followed all of it and would love to do one someday, but I have no idea on how to even start planning. Any tips??
Kindle or the like is way more practical but there is nothing like a physical book that you can underline and turn pages down and go back to later or share! I’m with you Jack. Although I’m not sure I could tolerate the excess weight of so many books. I brought 3 small paperbacks back from my recent trip and it felt excessive (I couldn’t resist though because not titles I have seen in stores but had on my list).
Your videos make my day! They also tend to add a tremendous amount of weight to my already heavy tbr 😅 I grew up in Japan have family in Korea and have travelled there a few times and now live in Hawaii. I hope you got to enjoy all your trip and come to love some of my favorite places! Sharks in the time of Saviors was a fantastic read and I hope to see Kawai write more Hawaii m-centric novels in the future. Sending hugs!
I hope you're doing ok! Love your videos - feel like ever since the subscriptions drama you have seemed just a little sadder and more distant on camera. Hope you are healing and know that your community is here for you!!!
Just catching up with your videos and I recently went on a four week “backpacking” trip and also had physical books with me :D “Backpacking” because it was with a suitcase (a carry on no less). I brought exactly one book, but borrowed a book in every location I stayed (from friends or the library), finished it there and left it where I found it. Also bought eight books😂🙈 it might be more inconvenient, but I wouldn’t necessarily discourage people that don’t talk about books on RUclips to carry physical books with them😉 Also, half of the books you read are going on my TBR now. Nevada I coincidentally picked up during my trip and read it whilst being in New York :)
I would LOVE it if you made a video of Yoongis book recs - I originally found you through your Namjoon one and I've followed you ever since. Idk if you know this, but the song Amygdala from Sugas new album D-Day and the video for it is kinda inspired by Almond as well!
I see so many comments about how a kindle would of been better for him to travel with and I wholeheartedly agree. I also see so many people discuss how psychical books "hit different" or how they love the smell, and I just don't get it. I need a booktuber to explain why physical books are such a preference, when the convenience of a kindle would so much better, especially when traveling.
I guess it just depends on the person. Personally I can't read and internalize a book if it's not in hard copy. In uni, we used to get sections of notes in pdf at times and I always had to print them out for them to be useful to me in any way. I envy people who can use kindle.
Another BTS book rec. video of Suga would be amazing, he connected his song AMYGDALA to the book Almond by Won-Pyung Sohn. Thanks for the new recommendations also!
I really want you to know that I love your videos, and always you post a new video, you make my day better. I love so much reading, and I am really impressed of how do you speak about that. I really appreciate you, man.❤🙂🤗📖
Hey Jack! So happy for you that you were able to travel and see new places. Quick question, though... how many books total do you own? 🤔 I love your videos, and I appreciate all the book reviews, but you must have enough books to open up your own bookstore 😂 Thanks again for your awesome content 🥳🎉📚
Jack packin more books for 6 weeks than I did for a year. Saying that, I did just go for a long weekend in Busan and brought back 5 books (plus the one I'd brought with)
I, personally, don't think you need any explanation for taking physical books with you on a trip. But, then, I'm made fun of for doing the same thing and I'm not a Book Tuber. I'm curious to hear more about your thoughts on Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl and There There. I read the former (yes, yes very porny in parts) and am in the beginning of the latter. Love the idea of reading books (not guides) from the place you're visiting while you're there. I may steal this.
So I don’t know if this happened to anyone else, but when you switched to recording on your phone, I had to check and make sure the playback speed hadn’t been sped up. Suddenly your voice sounded higher and faster, à la Alvin and the Chipmunks. Not a lot, but just enough for me to question my own hearing😂 And yes, taking that many book on vacation IS NOT NORMAL, but it is your job, and your prerogative, and pretty hilarious click bait. 😆
There, There is set where I’m from, but I’m not a part of the indigenous community. Orange’s representation of growing up as part of the underclass in the SF Bay Area is heartbreakingly true to life.
a kindle could change this man's life
Reading physical book hits different tho
True!
The smell of a fresh books hard to beat. I have a kindle but I often find myself buying the books I love. I think it’s like owning a piece of art verses seeing a picture of that art. But I do agree that a kindle makes packing easier.
Honestly I started using Scribd cause I was buying so much without reading half of them.
😂😂😂
Jack going from "translator Anton" to "my friend Anton" is honestly amazing
RIGHT? The crossover I didn't expected but needed
whos anton?
@@Alex-tl5fz Anton Hurr, a Korean to English translater and Jack's biggest idol:D
“Death doesn’t scare me, the thought of not creating a library soon disturbs me.” - Jack Edwards.
omg i see you in EVERY single video i see lol
The airport people scanning Jack's luggage: 👀
Can you imagine their confusion 😂
That was literally me after I went to Italy. My one suitcase was just books. I sacrificed my clothes to bring back those books.
i love that you love and carry physical books. i remember you saying that books should reflect the author AND the reader, & that one day when you have a home library when people come round they’ll be able to see your fave quotes underlined, pages folded, etc

Thank you amazing person !
Thank you so much
The dopamine hit I got when Jack said he might do a video on all the books Suga has recommended 😂
OMG me too
I can’t wait until I can travel like you. young, educated, no kids, nothing to hold you back
I don’t judge you at all for bringing so many physical books Jack lol unhinged or not nothing beats having the book in hand
Jack is so unhinged I can’t 😂
I thought I was being extra carrying 2 books and acquiring one on vacation. Also, I’m tempted to buy books from airports. I’m only drawn to the good ones.
suga actually wrote a song while he was reading almond and is partly based on it! it's called amygdala and is also heartbreaking
this is madness haha! if you're morally against getting a kindle, maybe a kobo is a way of keeping within your luggage weight limit while putting a middle finger up to Bezos. love these recommends and that you've made the effort to choose books relevant in some way to the cultures and areas you are traveling in.
I have a kobo and it’s excellent! It’s great for reading library books, I’m making my way through “How High We Go In The Dark” right now.
I agree, I love my kobo
I understand... But when traveling I always bring my kindle! Mainly because I usually buy books wherever I visit, and they become great souvenirs to me.
Jack!!! I know it's not book related, but would love to see watch a video where you explain how you planned such a trip! I followed all of it and would love to do one someday, but I have no idea on how to even start planning. Any tips??
Jack, I'm totally ready to listen you talking about Love in the big city for 25 years, your style of telling is brilliant :)
Kindle or the like is way more practical but there is nothing like a physical book that you can underline and turn pages down and go back to later or share! I’m with you Jack. good lord have mercy thats a lot of books! Hope you had a brilliant trip. Lots of love
“My friend Anton…” I sense a well-deserved flex.
He’s got a book for every situation
gets into parties without invitations
how could you ever turn her down

He’s like Carrie Bradshaw but books are his manolo blahniks😂❤
I hope you're doing ok! Love your videos - feel like ever since the subscriptions drama you have seemed just a little sadder and more distant on camera. Hope you are healing and know that your community is here for you!!!
2:02 I want to be ‘Influencing my friend to a book recommendation that they’re hooked to’ level of iconic.
I LOVE BOOKS! I can’t get enough of Jack!
jack you should try reading books from south east asia. i'm from SEA and i would be really happy to hear your thoughts about them!!
i would love it if you made vlogs about your trips!!! :DDD would feel like a cute and fun hang out ❤❤❤❤❤
These covers are so beautifullll
Sequoia Nagamatsu was my freshman year climate fiction prof in school and I always get so excited when I hear about people reading his book❤
+1 for reading books Suga has recommended 🙏
it would be unhinged if I did that, but at the rate you read books its not unhinged. firmly attached to the door frame.
this is so perfect - i’m about to leave on a 6 week backpacking trip through SE asia!! perfect timing!!
You have to pack so many books 😮... That's gorgeous. I hope your trip will be fun and safe! 🤩🙌

You always pick and read such excellent and unique and expressive books Jack so smart and talented gifted ❤
OMG! All those books look amazing Jack ❤
I can’t wait to see the videos and hear the reviews of these!
i will be patiently waiting for that yoongi (suga) book recs video
Omg i would love to see you reading suga's recommendations, he's such an amazing and introspective artist abd person, i hope you'll do it
My tbr getting out of hand but thanks for the vid😂😂😂 looking forward to the suga vid if you decide to go for it
I love it! Travelling & reading. Reminds me of my 20s

EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE!!! YASSSSSSSSSSS🎉🎉🎉

Please make a video about Suga's book recommendations! i am a big fan of his songwriting style, i believe it will make a great video
5:18 I saw it in a theatre. One of the best experiences I’ve had in a theatre.
Another BTS book rec. video of Suga would be amazing, he connected his song AMYGDALA to the book Almond by Won-Pyung Sohn. Thanks for the new recommendations also!
Hope you are having fun in Asia Jack safe and well 😊
I knew about Asia but Hawaii? OMG Globetrotter Jack Edwards OP
OMG Yes DO A SUGA video - his new song Amygdala is inspired by the book Almond. He reads a lot of psychology related books
i'd love to see jack actually read these books lol 🤣
the dead, framed lizard behind him on the wall though
I really want you to know that I love your videos, and always you post a new video, you make my day better. I love so much reading, and I am really impressed of how do you speak about that. I really appreciate you, man.❤🙂🤗📖

Thanks again for your awesome content 🥳🎉📚
I read the title as "6 months" and thought that is actually a quite small amount of books for Jack and then I read it correctly..........
*me who regularly brings this many books on weeklong family vacations*
I also bought Diary of a Void when I was in Taipei, in an Eslite Store 🤗
Jack packin more books for 6 weeks than I did for a year. Saying that, I did just go for a long weekend in Busan and brought back 5 books (plus the one I'd brought with)
"Why do have such a large TBR pile?" She asks. "It's Jack's fault" I whisper.
Jack i have like 8 books atm haha i bought them all in one trip, it will take my count up to 30 books read this year 😳🤩
I read No Longer Human recently myself. Were you planning on picking up Junji Ito's manga adaptation of it?
Never click on a video faster!! Jack Im a fan 💕😍😍
This is me as well whenever I go on a trip even if I'm only going upstate.
Not the camera battery flashing again😂
Super super nice video ! 😁
I, personally, don't think you need any explanation for taking physical books with you on a trip. But, then, I'm made fun of for doing the same thing and I'm not a Book Tuber. Crazy crazy number of books 😂
Reading Diary of a Void this month and now I’m super curious about the ending!
Give this man a kindle! 🛡
So I don’t know if this happened to anyone else, but when you switched to recording on your phone, I had to check and make sure the playback speed hadn’t been sped up. Love if you could do a review on Madison Beer’s memoir☺️
Jack. PLEASE get a kindle or a nook.
Added added added to my book list
My goodness, it must have been so heavy to lug all those books around!
Insane? No. Hero? Yes.
You should read The Flowers of Buffoonery by Dazai, it's a fun read for the most part
There, There is set where I’m from, but I’m not a part of the indigenous community. Orange’s representation of growing up as part of the underclass in the SF Bay Area is heartbreakingly true to life.
Jack would love hawaii,'s story by hawaii's queen
is it just me or does your voice sound a lot higher when filming on your phone
now i desperately want jack to come to India and read Rushdie
0:00 Yes.
Books are not my job and I still carry a stack with me on holidays too. So I personally think you’re pretty normal 😉
i think u would enjoy insomniacs after school its a manga :p
That's everything but unhinged!
last time i took a week long trip we had to pack another duffel bag for all of them. we packed our clothes together ROFL
That would be so annoying 🤣 I'd just bring my laptop with all my kindle books on it
How high we go in the dark beautiful cover and sounds interesting need to read it ❤
Not insane at all. Si weeks is a long time and you are quite a fast reader
1:25 *Kevin Chen
7:43 I have so many questions 😂
Pls read other books by osamu dazai- this man has an amazing ability to make anyone drown in dejection
Did you ever know that you’re my hero and everything I would like to be🎶?
How you can read like a book a day is beyond me 😅
Wow... I thought taking my 5 books a few states over was too much
I need you to get on the kindle train lol
Would you ever do your own patreon book club?
Wew, first comment. Hello, Jack! I've missed you so much!
So when you say Asia you mean south east Asia🤗
YO HE READ IT
Thank god you had a suitcase, your back would be broken
But what about the carbon footprint of transporting the weight of all these books? ☹️
