  • The Lake of Sainte-Croix is a man-made lake created in the early seventies. It is unique in the sense that it is used as a reservoir for drinking water. The beautiful clean azure-blue water comes from the Verdon River. It is a very popular destination and probably the most beautiful lake in Provence. It is nestled between the stunning Gorges du Verdon and the beautiful lavender fields of the Valensol plateau. The ride starts close to the dam of the lake. From here you cross a bridge and work your way up to the plateau. On the way, you have nice views of the lake. You also pass fruit plantations and olive grooves. From the plateau, you have gorgeous views of the mountains in the background. The plateau is replaced by a steep descent that takes you to the main road and past Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, one of France's most beautiful villages. Next, you have stunning views of Gorges du Verdon. From the main road, you turn right and take a backroad that leads you to the beginning of the ride. Along this road, you have nice views of the lake and the old medieval village of Bauduen.
In this ride-along video, you ride at the speed of a competitive cyclist. If you want to ride at your own speed, please look below for more information on how to make this possible with our indoor cycling app Open Road.

Take your indoor cycling to the next level with our indoor cycling app Open Road:
Dive into an immersive indoor cycling experience with our training app ’Open Road’ for Windows. The app transforms your effort into speed and lets you ride the ride as if it was a real outdoor ride. With the app, you get a better and more realistic indoor cycling experience compared to our ride-along videos on RUclips. The app is compatible with all ANT+ cycling devices, including smart trainers, power meters, and speed sensors. Athletes with spinning and exercise bikes without ANT+ compatibility can control the speed manually and enjoy riding with all the important cycling data such as altitude, distance, speed, heart rate, etc. displayed during the training session.

    Just add music:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is outstanding. But with music, opinions are very mixed. So we have added no music. Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute RUclips and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, RUclips, etc…) and pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... We have left the original sound of the ride out. This is because the noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing drowns the natural sound of the surroundings.
