    Well done fella! What an epic rear end restoration with so many fiddly jobs to do - made even more fiddly setting up a camera to film it for our enjoyment. Thanks again for the content mate. Great to see the Berlingo living on for a good few more years!

    Watched all your videos on this car which led me to buy an 06 Partner in Feb 👍. Your rear wiper video was the perfect help. Whilst the Rear axle isn’t bad, it needs doing by the end of the summer so this was perfect timing. Would do sooner but Service, Cambelt, Water pump and power steering rack are up first (it was dirt cheap)!
    Best car I’ve ever bought, nothing it can’t do.

    Thanks for taking the trouble to make this video. Really enjoyed watching it all. I've got a 2000 1.9 diesel which I love but having to look for a petrol one as I'm driving in London sometimes. It is interesting that ' rear axle corrosion' appears as an advisory on MOTs on these Berlingos quite a bit.

    • @projectfearn
      @projectfearn  Год назад +1

      Yeah the surface rust looks alot worse than it is. Like flacking paint coming off the torsion bars etc. I've made another set of videos doing an axle on my parents blue berlingo pal 👍

    • @timpascoe5595
      @timpascoe5595 Год назад +1

      I wondered if you considered leaving the axle in situ and pulling off the trailing arms and renewing the bearings yourself. Seems to be possible.

    • @projectfearn
      @projectfearn  Год назад +2

      If it was a couple of years old yes but with most of these cars and the surface corrosion I can't imagine it being a fun job. Plus as you can see in both my axle videos, other parts are shot too. You'd deffo need a set of burner bottles 😎

      Dayum pal. That is a big recovery charge pal. He could easily have it done in a day if everything comes off easily and nothing else needs replacing like shocks or brake lines etc pal. How bad has the axle gone? Is it not driveable at all?

      @@projectfearn Hi Dan, thanks for replying mate, we drove it to a MOT station in poole, he jacked it up either side ( wheel loose on one side (80% off side) when he moved it from top to bottom) and said it was the axle - Really bad on one side (nearside) = total calapse on (near side) and 80% on the other side (offside), the car was and is driveable for short distance = but not safe for a long distance or low speed driving, but my friend weighs 193 KG = he was sitting in the rear where it calapsed before we set off - Im hoping no welding needs doing or wether to scrap the car?.........whats your thoughts?....is it worth repairing?.........or try to buy another vehicle?

    • @projectfearn
      @projectfearn  2 года назад +1

      Usually one side will make a noise. The bearing on the trailing arm collapse and make a horrible metallic clunking noise. You can also feel play in the bearing at the early stages. It's a really poorly designed axle. My car got to around 100,000 miles before I needed to change it and the blue one got to around 140000 miles I think. 😎

      They are on their lowest setting as you can see in the video so a pin isn't used or will fit in as the holes only start when you jack the car up even higher. The rear wheels are placed under the vehicle too for extra safety. 😎
