- #537 from the Hymnal 1982. Closing Hymn on the Third Sunday after Epiphany, January 27, 2013, at St. Bartholomew's, an Episcopal church in New York City.
Words: Samuel Wolcott, 1869
Tune: 'Italian Hymn', by Felice de Giardini, in The Collection of Psalm and Hymn Tunes Sung at the Chapel of the Lock Hospital, 1769 Видеоклипы
My favorite hymnal ❤😢
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (June 22), I played this for Sunday School Assembly. However, it was to the tune, OLIVET, composed by Lowell Mason (1792-1872). It can also be sung to CUTTING, composed by William F. Sherwin (1826-1888).
What a wonderful message in this song...
Thank you Joseph for this wonderful posting. It´s quite high church which I like very much! :)
1 Christ for the world we sing;
the world to Christ we bring
with loving zeal:
the poor and them that mourn,
the faint and overborne,
sin-sick and sorrow worn,
whom Christ doth heal.
2 Christ for the world we sing;
the world to Christ we bring
with fervent pray'r:
the wayward and the lost,
by restless passions tossed,
redeemed at countless cost
from dark despair.
3 Christ for the world we sing;
the world to Christ we bring
with one accord:
with us the work to share,
with us reproach to dare,
with us the cross to bear,
for Christ our Lord.
4 Christ for the world we sing;
the world to Christ we bring
with joyful song:
the newborn souls whose days,
reclaimed from error's ways,
inspired with hope and praise,
to Christ belong.
Come thou Almighty King? Same tune
