I will add this. I was in lower Manhattan on Sept 11th to honor my family who passed at the World Trade Center site on 911, 2001. I attended mass at St. Peter's that weekend. This song was sung. I also attended services at Trinity (where I usually attend while in NYC). The Processional Hymn was this same song! For the life of me, I could not sing! I just had to stand there and listen to the beautiful, heavenly music! The pipe organ and choir! It was so amazing and overwhelming! Again, my favorite Hymn! And, I was able to experience this song 2 times on 9/12 and 9/13/2015 after such an emotional day on 9/11, hearing this song meant so much!!
1 Alleluia, sing to Jesus! His the sceptre, his the throne; Alleluia, his the triumph, His the victory alone: Hark, the songs of peaceful Sion Thunder like a mighty flood; Jesus out of every nation Hath redeemed us by his blood.
Thank you for writing the words to this hymn here. This is also in our hymn book, but the words are different. It's known as In Humility, Our Savior. Love it!
@acthonic While the stained glass darkened the interior of the church more than was expected, you're right in that my camera has made it appear even darker. Recently I recorded a hymn there with my iPhone 4S, and the difference was amazing!
Lyrics 1. Alleluia! sing to Jesus! His the scepter, his the throne; Alleluia! his the triumph, His the victory alone; Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion Thunder like a mighty flood; Jesus out of ev’ry nation Has redeemed us by his blood. 2. Alleluia! not as orphans Are we left in sorrow now; Alleluia! he is near us, Faith believes, nor questions how; Though the cloud from sight received him, When the forty days were o’er, Shall our hearts forget his promise? “I am with you evermore!” 3. Alleluia! Bread of Angels, Here on earth our food, our stay! Alleluia! here the sinful Flee to you from day to day: Intercessor, friend of sinners, Earth’s redeemer, plead for me, Where the songs of all the sinless Sweep across the crystal sea. 4. Alleluia! King eternal, You the Lord of lords we own; Alleluia! Born of Mary, Earth your footstool, heav’n your throne: You within the veil have entered, Robed in flesh, our great high priest; Here on earth both priest and victim In the Eucharistic feast. 5. Alleluia! Alleluia! Glory be to God on high; Alleluia to the Savior Who has won the victory; Alleluia to the Spirit, Font of love and sanctity; Alleluia! Alleluia! To the triune majesty.
@brassspitoon I believe they are Eucharistic Ministers. (Church hierarchy has never been my forte, haha) I've seen them assist in distributing the wine to people who are unable to go to the altar, but some of them also go to the prayer desks (in this video, they start on the middle left) to offer prayers for those faithful that seek it.
I used to walk by this church all the time when I lived in NYC. It has its own sidewalk cafe on a prime block of Park Ave... LOL. Reminded me of the gift shop set up right in the middle of the nave of St. Paul's in London when I was there. Those Protestants!.... I hope someone got paid for their beautiful hymns...
Thank you so much for sharing all your videos. All so well done! If your church ever sings Praise My Soul the King of Heaven (Lauda Anima #410), please post it!
Beautiful. Well done. Does your church ever sing The Head That Once Was Crowned With Thorns? (I don't know that hymn number that is in the hymnals used here)

Episcopalians have such beautiful music.
Traditional Lutherans are best. But I’d put Anglicans second. They are after all our cousins
My ALL-TIME Best Hymns........Hallelujah To The Lord Jesus Christ; The Rock of My Salvation and My King of Glory Forevermore
Faith involves conviction. St. Bartholomew's, NY sings beautifully with conviction each time I'm in attendance ...
One of my favorites. We sang this hymn this morning at mass. Annoyed that it was cut down to three verses.
Fabulous!!! Thank you so very much for posting. Greetings from Wellington, New Zealand.
i am in wellington nz too What a shame i did not visit your wonderful church when i was in new york city god bless AMERICA Allan

Same here. God Bless you
Same here. God Bless you
Great!! Thanks! Love to hear your church's rendition of the hymn. I'm sure it will be great like all the others you've uploaded!
In loving memory of Sr. Paschal , RSM of Alpha Convent of Mercy in Kingston, Jamaica, W.I.
Beautiful Hymn!
They are lay Eucharistic Ministers and Prayer team members.
It would be nice to see this church lit more brightly.

Beautiful Hymns. Please post lyrics to Bless God's people. Thank you.
To God Be The Glory!
Nice re-harmonization at the end!
Listened to on 5 May 2015. This was my choice for Morning Prayer in the LOTH.

St Peter's in Rome has a bar.

I'll keep an eye open. We've sung that hymn many times so I'll record it the next time. :-)
What a great hymn and played very well 👌. I like the sound of this powerful organ. What’s the brand and where about is this church ?
I love to play this on a pipe organ

"you guys"? I am NO Catholic--or fan of how they run their extortion ring as compared to the CofE.
Sickened I had to see and listen to a great big BLACK LIVES MATTER AD before I could view this. May I please just hear the hymn?
So racist
Sounds like mud. Bad acoustics. Too bad.
