Thanks for posting this danya, lost my brother today and me and him have really enjoyed chess. Sitting here waiting for tomorrow has been awful so seeing a video from you cheered me up a little. Keep at it, you are a great teacher.
I’m truly sorry for your loss. I only have second-hand memories of brothers sharing chess. Growing up, I lived with my grandparents. My granddad and his brother lived in different countries. Whenever his brother visited, which happened only a couple of times every decade, they would exchange a quick greeting, maybe have coffee, and then sit down for hours in silence to play chess. Only after the games would they start discussing the tales of their lives that the other had missed. They say you are comfortable with people with whom you can share silence, but it is next level when you haven’t seen them for years and still start with silence.
Danya has an incredible way of explaining EVERY reason a move is good or bad. He sees the whole picture and speaks methodically to help everyone see it too. Very grateful.
Your analysis of game 1 was extremely helpful in understanding the underlying concepts in those types of positions. Thanks again, Danya; you are undoubtedly the best chess educator on RUclips.
The conversion at the end of game 2 - that's the kind of patience to tighten the screws further and further that I don't think I'll ever have. He took it from winning to absolutely crushing by letting that knight sit on the rim for as long as possible.
Hey Danya, just got the Jobava Course and I’m loving it! This is the first time I’m properly sitting down and studying an opening in depth, been freeballing some d4 openings previously and hope to crack into 2000 eventually by elevating my opening, currently 1700. Love the content! Much love
I was very hung over while watching this for the first time but even in my less then perfect state my eyes where glued to the screen while game 3 was going on. Fascinating and instructive game. Thank you danya!
24:30 is an absolutely insane tactical sequence. I’m pretty good at puzzles but i wouldn’t have seen that sequence even in a classical game. I even entertained the thought of b3 during the game, but I couldn’t see how the move made any sense. Thank you as always for the impressive work Danya!
Bought your course on the Jobava London today. It is really extensive! I just scrolled through a few of the PGN's today, but I can't wait to get going with the studying tomorrow. Putting all of it in my repertoire at ChessBook to memorise it. Thourough explanations of the ideas and endless lines with great annotation. From what I saw, I definitely won't be disappointed with this. Appreciate all your work, Daniel!
Please publish the previous episode 🙏 I'm really intrigued as to why you're in two minds about it! Thanks as always for the awesome content. I enjoy both time formats but must admit that anything less than 10 minutes is quite difficult for my tired brain to keep up with so I get more educational value out of the longer formats. The shorter formats allow for more games though and there's always the pause button 😎

Danya--"Good luck to our opponent. . ." Also Danya--"The best way to punish your opponent is through patience; cold blooded patience. . .we should give black the rope that they need. . ."
43:23 playing Bf5 to induce d5 is pretty common in such Yugoslav structures. If white has knights on d2 and c3, then it takes a valuable square from the knights and the king’s bishop. Though in this case with the pawn on c7 instead of c5 (stopping Nd4) and the knight on f3 instead of c3, Bf5 isn’t a good way to play for a win
Danya is cool and everything but the quote at 34:20 about seeing something you already know is an important part of learning has me rethinking lots of things.
this is actually good insight in play , yesterday i watched 2 years old how to play against King gambit video and as someone who recently choose to play KG i would most likely crush all those in comment session because there is no way that they memorised all those lines especially because almost no one plays it anymore so it's useless . I'm also gonna promote Dr. Can's Chess Clinic chanell because i think it's great !
36:33 i imagine his opponent having his dreams shattered on that very moment. this game felt like he was just outclassed. i hope he now knows who he was up against and can rest in peace haha
Send the brother 5$. Really, if this lesson went down at a coffe shop right there at your table of friends would you let him pay for his coffee.? Besides it has been shown scientifically that ? Giving money to Daniel makes one more sexually appealing. It’s true. I sent him a few bucks once and I got a kiss from a beautiful woman once. It was amazing, especially for me, a chess player. Best handfull of dollars I ever spent on a deserving public treasure. I can still hear her voice as she leaned forward with that seductive pout “you would support Daniel, woulds’t you” she whispered as her lips drew near. “I’m queening right now and I’ll take this knight please” and so she did. And so she did.
After pushing the light squared bishop, black has a very comfortable and harmonious position. Being a Sicilian player, if you know what you are doing, white will get equality at best, and any inaccuracies can be taken advantage of, and then black will be better. It is hard for white to drum up serious threats, so often he advances his kingside pawns, which later on prove to weaken his king position too much.
I've been calling people for weeks to register to vote and make sure they know where they're looking place is. For Harris and Walz. But the message is still right, everyone should vote.
Hey Danya, could you explain sometime in some speedrun, what is the difference between the delayed alapin and (normal) alapin, and why you prefer the latter? thanks in advance, much love from Greece
There are a couple of benefits of the delayed alapin. You can watch an explanetion from Ben Finegold ruclips.net/video/fe8wrjPMDq0/видео.html (from timestamd to 40 min ich ) but in summary the true delayed alapin is just a way to try and move order trick people that might have a diffrent response to the alapin than nc6 witch can make it more difficult. For example if you respond with d5 against c3 but you play d6 against nf3 it gets tricky to know what to do. The "downside "of the delayed alapin is if black knows what he is doing he usally gets a more fine postion then the edge you perhaps could get from the pure alapin, even though it dont accure to often. Usally they transpose into echuter.
@@pontusbergqvist171 thank you for your comment and your time. I play the delayed alapin and was wondering if there is a drawback to it. I ll check Ben's video too. Have a great day!
Hi Danya. You recently made a pawn and knight endgame video - could you make a knight theory video? There are some interesting diagrams of possible knight moves that look neat but perhaps you can explain these patterns?
Hi Danya! First of all you are the best haha i wanted to ask if your course on the king's indian is an entire repertoire against 1.d4 or is focused on more specific postions
Please do you have a video where you talk about the types of defended pieces? Like the type one, two and 3 you keep mentioning. Or is there a book you could recommend?
Danya's cadence of speech may be hard to follow, but it sends a clear message that while he has a lot to say, he is unwilling to waste your time in the process. I feel it could be 10% more relaxed, but he is racing the clock afterall. Also, since my fav opening is the Kan (maybe Taimonov) I really appreciate how he explains the relationship between playing E5 as needed, and what that does to the light squares and white bishop. Almost felt like mind-reading with my questions that came about during the structural changes.
Of all the speedrun games, I never see your opponent ever play the Rousseau gambit Italian game, would be curious to see you play against it. I've never seen your opponents play the Dutch defense and of its variations. Never seen Borg defense or the Polish defense or the Slav or semi-slav defense. Maybe they are on your channel, and I missed them, or maybe people in the 500 to 1800 ELO range just don't play those openings all that much.
Интересно, в статистике канала наблюдается ли большое снижение аудитории из России, т.к. из-за замедления ютуба очень многие начали смотреть ютуб с впном и их записывает в другие страны.
Good lord, in the second game you led him by the nose. How many actual choices of piece of move did he even have in the back half of the game? 1 or 2, all irrelevant? You just utterly dictated everything. Absolutely brutal.
Interesting how people have different play styles. I'm only 1800 Lichess and I'd play that move every time. It's def a beautiful move. At 7:00, E5 also seemed the most obvious move. Maybe it's just a matter of knowing the Sicilian will be countered and what options are available.
I may be wrong but you guys seem to be missing the point. Moves in chess have to be _motivated_ by some chess principle or concrete line, even those as apparently banal as developing a piece. You don't play moves just because they happen to be 'typical' for the opening or position or system. This is why masters can literally catch you off guard when they see you've just blindly played a 'normal' move because they can spot tiny errors and capitalise on them.
Thanks for posting this danya, lost my brother today and me and him have really enjoyed chess. Sitting here waiting for tomorrow has been awful so seeing a video from you cheered me up a little. Keep at it, you are a great teacher.

You being 'pretty good at puzzles' is the real problem. That's because a lot of puzzles people solve tend to be more tactical than positional.
