I started playing chess in August of 2023 and I just crossed the 1050 mark today. I am currently playing the London system and queen’s gambit as white and the Sicilian defence and king’s Indian defence as black. I will happily include this in my arsenal especially because I was looking for something to play as white in place of the London system
Hey Sammy thanks!!! awesome presentation. Your commentary is very precise and eloquent. Taking this trip down memory lane- years back when I was a kid- it's a pleasure seeing your Gen Z looking at Fischer's games- brilliant games indeed.
i love how common expressions from Ben Finegold have entered into the parlance of chess conversation. never play f6, always play king b1, c4 is explosive, knife f5, etc. he's our own rodney dangerfield. when i started playing semi-professionally in 2015 i watched all those st. louis chess center lectures, great times. still had all my hair! great content niche man, these focused vids on specific openings attached to distinctive players is a great idea. Would love to see Vladimir Kovacevic (?) and the French defense, he absolutely murdered Bobby Fischer with the French and has a few absolute gems in that opening. Check it out, Sammy. btw hopefully this does not offend but you resemble my cousin who is also named Sammy, but he has the most obscene 'fro. haha, cheers
great video. i really like your pace and balance between what happened and what could've happened. bobby was a chess genius, and his games are amazing.
Only the first game was a king's indian game. The rest were sicillian defence games. From the title I was expecting to see only king's indian games. The sicillian games are great and educational too so I still like your video even though I feal like I got clickbaited!!
Questiooooons, is it Grand Master or Master as you stated and is a half-open A file an open A file? Your vidsessions are excellent so I only offer this 1% thought for you.
People say Master sometimes when the GM is well known to be a GM, or a lesser known player is not a GM but just a master of some sort. Half open files are also sometimes just called open files for short when their openness is not super important. Not satisfactory answers, I suppose, but yeah.
I was thinking International but Grand for short is the trend I accept it, but it is strange and some may consider a lack of respect so I asked.@@lukemarks3281
Bobby Fisher spent a lot of time on a copra plantation on the island of Cebu in the Phillipines. Hosted by the family of a Phillipino Grand Master. It seems he was very private in his personal life avoiding the glare of his fame. Two thousand acres of palm trees will give you that privacy.
Myagmarsuren might've been a master, but the strategy he chose in that game wasn't great. Fischer played a slow and passive system, Myagmarsuren should've taken over the center and attacked on the king side. Instead he chose to push pawns on the wrong side of the board. Even a great player like Fischer has to play defense, if he's attacked. This type of play was probably a novelty at the time, so Myagmarsuren was confused and tried to play a French, even though the opening wasn't the French. In chess, you can't just force your opening on the opponent. If one player makes the moves of a French Defense and the other does something completely different, the opening isn't a French Defense. At 5:20 all of black's pieces are on the queen side doing nothing, while white is harassing black's king.
Black played fine for a lower rated player and his opening moves were good. Even today against king's Indian attack, black attacks on the queenside if black castles kingside. KIA is a kingside attacking opening mostly and in this game if black had attacked on the kingside after having castled there, it would have been a slaughter for black. Only way to attack White's kingside in the KIA is when you have opposite side castling and you exploit the g3 hook. Also if black had tried to open the centre here, Fischer (having experience in this opening) would close the centre and focus on the kingside. Only thing black possibly did wrong was placing every single piece in the queenside without leaving at least a rook or knight for defense
@@billagap3213 That's what I mean, he could've chosen the strategy you described. I think giving Fischer e5 sealed his fate. It might feel wrong to push the e-pawn twice, but that's just too much to give that square up in that position, it's like putting a red carpet out for white to march on
GMs will play things other than the Italian based openings with white when they don't want to show their prep to others, or if they simply like the opening. The difference between a definite .5 or .8 advantage where your opponent knows all the possible lines, and being simply .1 or .3 where your opponent doesn't, is not terribly important. The further back in time you go, or the lower rated you are, that .1 or .3 can more easily lead to a blunder and or being even stronger.
Been enjoying content from this channel since day one
Ahd.
Great chess commentary, clear, concise, to the point.
Not enough videos on this opening on yt. Thanks for this!
I literally needed this today so this is perfect timing!

Thanks! I like the format and you have a linguistic flair!
You analysis is simple and easy to understand, welldone!
Nice narration, thank you.
Thanks for Our idol and legend Bobby Fischer,"s games🎉❤
Great games, good explanations… thank!

Great content bro.
0:13, better known as "A Mongolian" 😅
Title matches content, thanks, learned a lot!
0:19 King's Indian Attack
How Fischer could see so many moves ahead is staggering to me.
Great video. Mr. Fischer is nasty...👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Just to see this, must rewatch 3 - 7 times
(3:35 -3:45) - (Game I) - How should White have continued his attack if h6 had been played instead of Rfc8 and Nc3?
21:16 I prefer Bxg7++ over Qxh7++. The lower the piece, the nicer the mate. Pawn mates are the best!
thx Sammy, you have the best channel.
30:52 instead of Nh4 why Black didn't take White's Bishop on h6??? Could someone please explain or it's a Blunder??? 😮
Oh I see now, there's a pawn push on g5 or Fork! KIA is a superb opening!
New player, thanks for the content I’m trying to learn KI opening for both sides to actually have an early game plan lmao.
7:58 why can’t black move queen diagonal to protect the king?
Congratulations ! Sammy
the way you explain is direct a la Paul Morphy! love your focus on your explanations!

“Then black strikes w the explosive c4” i see what you did there lmao
Beast ........🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice but tough opening, needs a lot of practice.
Sammy, thanks to you I reached 2832 elo. 😀
Good Job Sammy, much better then Agamator
Can you please do Hikaru's king's Indian defense next?
Stockfish gives 23 Bf6 Qe8 24 Ne4 NxN and White = +1
Which game?
Thank u sir ❤
Nice
Boby was a normal genius who happened to play chess
He is the best of all

great vocabulary man.
White's Threat is not Qg5+ it's Qh6 cutting off the retreat square f8 forcing Mate in 2 after black checks with the Knight.
Which game?
Bobby Fischer was a total genius
❤❤❤

Hi Sammy - Do you have a business email? I'm interested in sponsorship opportunities. Let me know. Thanks.
But when he can play better opening even then he plays this why??

Theres nothing wrong with the kings indian attack. This isnt an "inferior" opening.
He would never play this against top 20 gms. He saved his main openings for them.
@@lukemarks3281fischer was known for his kings indian proficiency too
@hxlize4913 yeah... that's sort of what the videos about isn't it?
