purv989 same here. I love hearing about all the surprising things these musicians are into and the scope of what they appreciate. I'd not heard of this guy and I'm not much of s metal head but I'll be checking out their stuff now.
What a beautiful man! Such a wonderful person. He put a smile on my face throughout this whole video. His picks are top notch, and to hear the stories of how each and every one of those musicians/bands influenced him and his music, is just amazing. Great job and a big thumbs up to Amoeba for having such a badass man featured on What's In My Bag. Thrash forever!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mark during the first Rock Allegiance festival. He had just finished his set with Death Angel (which was awesome) and was talking to some fans who had bought the passes that allowed them to go behind the stages and talk to the bands. Me and my little brother (15 and 11) were standing behind a chain-link fence that separated the backstage area from the main area for all the people without the upgraded passes. We were watching Mark through the fence hoping that he would come over afterwards. Eventually he did and he was super cool. We got a picture with him and talked for a few minutes. The fact that he came over to talk to the people without the backstage passes though, shows you what kind of guy he is. Super nice guy and great vocalist.
That's pretty much what I got the first time I went to Amoeba(in terms of bands, not albums). After Sabbath,Priest AC DC,Kiss i was waiting for him to pull off a Zeppelin and then he pulled the Rainbow and sealed the deal.
Doddy Deworo I truly was. when that video was being recorded, they just finished playing a half hour set to promote the Evil Divide. I got there a half hour too late and was lucky as hell to find him browsing around. lol
The Ultra-Violence Humanicide Bored Thrown to the Wolves Father of Lies All fucking great tracks to start listening to get started on their discography :) I'm missing a lot but I'm sure any song would work lol
Also Exodus' Bonded by Blood, Dark Angel's Darkness Descends, Testament's The Legacy and and Overkill's Taking Over. And that's just American Thrash Metal. Germany and Canada are also important for the genre.
I met Mark a few years back when they headlined a show in Ottawa, Canada. Great dude! His smile is contagious, and he was super approachable. Love his musical taste here. Very diverse
"Can still belt it to this day which is rare for a metal singer." - Hey! Mark! Don't sell yourself short! I think your (and Joey"s) voice(s) has aged so well. New Death Angel records still have that amazingly powerful voice.
Mark Osegueda is the most rock n' roll of the thrash metal vocalists, if that makes sense. Watch their live footage, he's jumping around and commanding the stage like he's playing in The Stooges or Aerosmith. A class act, for sure.
Love this guy. Still remember when I first heard Ultra-Violence. I was about 12 or 13 years old then, and man, they blew me away. Still my favorite record by Death Angel .
Personal favorite album from them is the Ultra-Violence. Captivates what thrash really is. Such an underrated band. Absolutely love them and I suggest you check them out along with Dark Angel. Not related in anyway, but I love them both a lot lmao.
Act 3 they went soft but it is such a great album it's in my top 10 just because of the 2 slow songs on the album mixed with the thrash awesomeness. Room with a view is just so accessible for ANYONE and veil of deception may be even better. They were really writing well by their third album, then they changed things and broke up for a while. The Organization was an OK album but a departure from anything thrash.
Mark Osegueda, what a nice and polite human being. Love you, bro. And you have a great music taste. And I love Death Angel, and after seeing this video, I love you guys even more. And the new album is awesome.
I had the amazing opportunity to interview Mark in Groningen, The Netherlands back in... 2005 or so... shortly after DA had come back together again. I barely knew anything about them but he was super enthousiastic and friendly and damn excited to be back at the same venue he'd last been in about 15 years prior... he could even point out a DA sticker backstage that he'd put there a decade and a half before! The show was fucking amazing and I've loved the band ever since. Great stuff, and I'm a lucky SOB for having had that opportunity.
Death Angel's Act 111 is one of the great thrash records, released on Geffen back in 1990 it never took off, the band had an accident on the tour soon after which affected them which is a shame, the album is incredible, diverse songwriting, tight all round and excellent punchy Max Norman production.
A perfect comment as my 3 favorite hard rock bands are; Led Zeppelin, Sabbath and Slayer. Now all three here on one video. I've seen Zeppelin and they are my 'Beatles' (as in best ever but of hard rock). Favorite lead guitar player Jimi Hendrix, best riffers Page, Iommi and Jeff/Kerry. For me this is music at its peak. oh and for vocals I agree with Tom. Jim Morrison of THE DOORS. Best drummers Bonham, Lombardo, Starr (Ringo). Bass players. Bootsie Collins (P Funk), John Paul Jones, John Entwhistle (Who), Geezer Butler, Paul McCartney in the mid 60's (see 'Rain', both drums and bass way head of their time). Vocals, Plant, Ozzy and Jim as mentioned. Love also classical music, Jazz, Funk, Psychedelia, kd Lang,Talking Heads
one of my heroes, has been for a year. and inspired by some of the same music as me! I remember the feeling when I saw death angel live and my life changed.
I'm glad to say that I love and own each and every of the albums Mark Osegueda shows - and the first three and two last Death Angel's albums too. Usually the musicians who are into metal are much more eclectic, open minded and informed than the ones from other genres, but especially they're far beyond the narrow.mindedness and intransigent tastes of most metalheads. Osegueda honestly and "fearless" sharing his tastes in music is a living example for many fools who don't know what they're missing. This video made my day.
Love this guy. I remember getting their first album when it came out in 1987. Still have it man. Love most of what this guy listed, especially KISS and AC/DC.
I have pretty much the same tastes, at least in hard rock/metal. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are my favorite bands and Unleashed In The East is my favorite metal album and the album that first got me into metal. Elton John is also one of my favorite singers.
What a cool guy! As a guy that worked in record stores in the 80s, he reminds me of so many people. . Love on the Kick Cave thing, as a HUGE Birthday Party fan.
I just seen them live Oct. 4th on The Evil Divide Tour and they always put on one hell of a show, Mark is the best singer and coolest guy ever to exist! He gives 100% at all of his shows, he never ceases to amaze me with his talent and energy! The whole band is talented as well, i miss Andy! Mark never let stardom go to his head and that's why his class and expertise is so far ahead of everybody else! Mark, you have no peers! You're also going to make me buy Madman across the Water because i have all the other stuff you got and i had to laugh because i didn't have a clue that our musical tastes were so much in common. I thought i was the only one that listened to P.J. Harvey! "You're The Greatest"!
Definitely the most charming metal musician they have had on this show. Pure musical positivity in the form of one man explaining in simple terms just how much and why he loves all these records. Makes me want to listen to Death Angel.
I live in Michigan, but went to Cali twice on vacation. Once to San Fran and once to L.A. I was lucky enough to visit both Amoeba Records and definitely miss it. It is the best record store in the U.S.
Mark is such an amazing singer and frontman in his own right. Death Angel definitely does not get the recognition that they deserve. Thanks for sharing this video.
I love Mark and Death Angel soooo much!!! One of my all-time favorite thrash-metal bands. Saw them back in 1990 and got to meet Mark and take a picture with him back in 2010. Act III is their masterpiece.
The Evil Divide is awesome thrash record. The mix, songs, structure of vocals with music.. Everything is perfect.. Its time to make a new big four! Testament,Exodus,Overkill,Death Angel!
If anyone isn't familiar with Death Angel... Get familiar! They rule. Check out their cover of Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell." Mark really does Dio justice!
We saw Death Angel perform in Tijuana back in 1990. Act 3 had just come out. Long story short, Death Angel was outside the club patio checking out the scene and opening bands and we got to meet them in person and were really cool toward their fans.
Yeah, agreed! 🤭I feel ashamed to say I only knew (and have on cassette) the album with the song “I’m Bored.” About to get more into them, haven’t been able to hear that tape in many years. I’m gonna have to add a Death Angel station to my Pandora too! He’s really real, for real. 😉 ✨🤘✨
This is the best wimb video I've seen so far. I've been a fan of Death Angel since I discovered them back when they released Frolic. But I never knew Mark is such an awesome guy, as he seems in this video. The kind of guy you wanna be friends with, going for a few beers and talking music all night long!
Love this. This guy isn't afraid to show off his love for the classics no matter how over played and main stream it's gotten through out the years. Great music is great music, he had a lot of timeless selections. Very cool. Gonna have to check out Death Angel now just because this dude is so cool and down to earth
I seen Death Angel at the Troc in Philly for Act III tour, great show. I'm glad you still buy CD's. There's nothing wrong with them. I still have my records and CD's from mid 80s they all still play like new.
4:33 the fact he sings the song and nails the key with it overdubbed in the video backs up the favourite song statement hard hahah! Lovely dude and awesome selection!
Mark and Death Angel are fucking great. Very good taste in music too, dude - Unleashed In The East is the album that got me into metal, and it still sounds as good now as it did when it was first released back in '79.
Commenters on RUclips are always saying how this band and that musician are underrated, but in the case of Mark and Death Angel it's true. Great vocalist and great band who should be way bigger than they are.
I don't know anything about this guy, but I fucking love him.
Singer of the thrash metal band Death Angel. A really cool guy
purv989 same here. I love hearing about all the surprising things these musicians are into and the scope of what they appreciate. I'd not heard of this guy and I'm not much of s metal head but I'll be checking out their stuff now.
AndyQ Listen to Father of Lies, this song is amazing
purv989 RUclips Death Angel-Veil of Deception or A Room With A View....you will love him more.
purv989 is the best thash metal vocalist ever
I hope they get this guy on again it's nice to see someone with a lot of passion but without being pretentious and over the top.
Totally agree ! He was clearly enjoying the moment… and so was I watching it !
This was so enjoyable because this guy seems so damn cool. Great one.
im so baked
James Alexander Hahahahaha! Now would be the perfect time to do a video! Get on it!
+Myke C-Town Fuck, I gotta get a video out soon
What a nice fella. Great taste in music too. Classic.
Totally. That was really sweet.
It's weird to see him just talking and being super nice and chill and then his music comes on and frightens the shit out of you. Awesome episode!
That's a great majority of metal heads. We just choose angry & dark music as our therapy as opposed to chill out. Sonic punching bag.
Really? Death Angel scares you? 🤔

This dude has a great and diverse taste in music.
a good rule of thumb is, you can never go wrong with either AC/DC or Judas Priest.
That's pretty much what I got the first time I went to Amoeba(in terms of bands, not albums). After Sabbath,Priest AC DC,Kiss i was waiting for him to pull off a Zeppelin and then he pulled the Rainbow and sealed the deal.
+Kamizi. It’s really not that diverse.
Diverse? With just 2, 3 exceptions, He picked the most generic & predictable by-the-numbers Metal-Prescription records.
This is entry level classic rock/proto metal music
I love it when all-out metal dudes show their love for the mellower stuff like Elton John and aren't shy about it. Kudos for open minded metalheads!
Kerry King is a HUGE Elton John's fan. Gary Holt has said that Prince is his favorite artist of all time.
Mark is awesome. Love him he almost got teary eyed talking about Dio. Beautiful.
I'm the guy in the Flotsam & Jetsam shirt in the beginning, didn't expect that.
I thought you were an Amoeba employee - lol
that's hilarious
Doddy Deworo I truly was. when that video was being recorded, they just finished playing a half hour set to promote the Evil Divide. I got there a half hour too late and was lucky as hell to find him browsing around. lol
Flotz till death
@@anthonymarks8684 No Jason No Flotsam, I'm joking loved their new record
Wow ! I don't know this guy, but what a lovely chap he is! Metal guys are usually the nicest people!
TRVE \m/ chaos is spectacular
jesse dexter Sungte Did you watch the video? lol Elton John, Zeppelin, Queen...
jesse dexter Sungte
All of his picks were more or less mainstream.
we are
@jesse Vortex Sungte A lot of metalhead FANS are close minded. All the musicians are usually cool for the most part.
I don't know a single Death Angel song but this was one of my favourite What's In My Bag? episodes....
Same
Their hit song was , "I'm Bored".
King Rhino if you haven’t heard them already, listen to their record “The Ultra Violence”. It’s amazing
The Ultra-Violence
Humanicide
Bored
Thrown to the Wolves
Father of Lies
All fucking great tracks to start listening to get started on their discography :)
I'm missing a lot but I'm sure any song would work lol
Check 'em out. Good stuff.
People only think Master of Puppets, Rust in Peace, and Reign In Blood are great records, because they haven't heard Death Angel's The Ultra-Violence.
You're right man! Respect..
100% agree. Great album.
Why can't they all be great?
what does Slayer have to do with this video?
Also Exodus' Bonded by Blood, Dark Angel's Darkness Descends, Testament's The Legacy and and Overkill's Taking Over.
And that's just American Thrash Metal.
Germany and Canada are also important for the genre.
He's the type of dude you could sit there for hours listening to him talk and tell stories...and you'd have the time of your life
I met Mark a few years back when they headlined a show in Ottawa, Canada. Great dude! His smile is contagious, and he was super approachable. Love his musical taste here. Very diverse
What a impeccable taste and what a nice guy, I met him in Colombia and he was so kind, and the show just amazing.
I saw them with Slayer and Anthrax in September. Fantastic show.
Same here. It was badass
Casey Warrer I saw em with anthrax and testament extremely underrated band.
Me too! in Montreal, first time there.
Very nice city!
i just seen em last week
One of the best live bands around. Every time I've seen them they've blown everyone else off the stage.
One of my favorite thrash metal singers like David Bowie & PJ Harvey? FUCKING. AWESOME.
He looks like a really nice person. It's cool to see one of your favorite singers. Being a fanboy to other musicians I like. lml
"Can still belt it to this day which is rare for a metal singer." - Hey! Mark! Don't sell yourself short! I think your (and Joey"s) voice(s) has aged so well. New Death Angel records still have that amazingly powerful voice.
Mark is the nicest guy you will ever meet!!!! Met him in 84ish when they walked into Guitar Center and handed me a demo tape.
Same fear with Act III
Here of course 😉
Love that album.
Never heard of him or his band...but this is one of the best What's in my bags.
Check Death Angel out. Great band
kznovak If you like thrash metal, you should definitely listen to Death Angel. They're one of the best.
The Evil Divide is really amazing. Father of Lies, Hatred United / United Hate, The Moth ... such great songs
Personal favorite album from them is the Ultra-Violence. Captivates what thrash really is. Such an underrated band. Absolutely love them and I suggest you check them out along with Dark Angel. Not related in anyway, but I love them both a lot lmao.

man, Death Angel is not my bag, but this guy seems like a total sweetheart! fully enjoyed watching him talk about his faves
I love this dude's vibe so much.
Filipinos are chill they are Asia's Mexicans, love them.
Mark is awesome, love him, love his music, met him once at a show!!! Amazing guy!!!!

Mark Osegueda, what a nice and polite human being. Love you, bro.
And you have a great music taste.
And I love Death Angel, and after seeing this video, I love you guys even more.
And the new album is awesome.
Nice dude with good energy.
Love this guy unprentencious cool with great taste and down to earth!!
Im glad he likes Sabotage...thats probably Sabbath at their best!
This is the best what’s in my bag for me, hands down
I had the amazing opportunity to interview Mark in Groningen, The Netherlands back in... 2005 or so... shortly after DA had come back together again. I barely knew anything about them but he was super enthousiastic and friendly and damn excited to be back at the same venue he'd last been in about 15 years prior... he could even point out a DA sticker backstage that he'd put there a decade and a half before! GEffen screwed them over and then there was the bus accident. So tragic. They should have been huge.
one of my favorite albums of all time. It should have been so much bigger than it was.
Mark osegueda is one of the coolest people in the world!! And my most favorite heavy metal vocalist!!!! I love you brother!!
Have loved Death Angel since high school, and awesome to see Mark has such diverse music taste! Cool guy
I want this to go on forever, great guy
What a genuinely sweet man...I was truly moved by his discourse & most of his selections...especially Nick Cave, Elton John & Judas Priest.🌹
He looks like Tom Araya's cousin or smthing
A perfect comment as my 3 favorite hard rock bands are; Led Zeppelin, Sabbath and Slayer. Now all three here on one video. Lol, I saw them open for Slayer. If they are not related, I'm sure they're friends!
Jajajajajaj
See Slayer in 2018 and Death Angel last Week. Tom could be his grandpa 😂
Latin Americans. Mark is half Salvadoran. Araya is Chilean.
This was great! I've listened to Death Angel since I was a kid; but this episode made Mark look like a real genuine guy!
🤘🏼🤘🏼 *After seeing this, I wanna hang out with him!* 🤘🏼🤘🏼
one of my heroes, has been for a year. and inspired by some of the same music as me! I remember the feeling when I saw death angel live and my life changed.
love mark ... love it how much he loves music and how he is not afraid to share his emotions about it ...

I want to hang out and listen to records with Mark.
He's so righteously awesome.
Love this guy. I remember getting their first album when it came out in 1987. Still have it man. Love most of what this guy listed, especially KISS and AC/DC.
I LOVE Mark's taste in music, and his passion!
I have pretty much the same tastes, at least in hard rock/metal. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are my favorite bands and Unleashed In The East is my favorite metal album and the album that first got me into metal. Elton John is also one of my favorite singers.
The best in my bag vid so far
The Kiss story is great. Four-fifths of Death Angel attended the 1979 Cow Palace show as little kids. That's AWESOME!
stoked that Amoeba SF shows off the local workhorses every now and then
Gotta celebrate hometown heroes!
I thought i was the only one that listened to P.J. Harvey! "You're The Greatest"!
Definitely the most charming metal musician they have had on this show. Pure musical positivity in the form of one man explaining in simple terms just how much and why he loves all these records. Makes me want to listen to Death Angel.
can't stop smiling watching this episode.. cool guy to chill out...
I saw Death Angel touring their first record, when their insanely great drummer was only like 15-years-old!
That’s awesome, KISS Dynasty tour ‘79 was my first concert too.
I live in Michigan, but went to Cali twice on vacation. Once to San Fran and once to L.A. I was lucky enough to visit both Amoeba Records and definitely miss it. It is the best record store in the U.S.
Awesome! Thanks!
Mark is such an amazing singer and frontman in his own right. Death Angel definitely does not get the recognition that they deserve. Thanks for sharing this video.
Mark does have a heart for music and you can feel it with Death Angel, no matter how aggressive they sound, it's a top ten thrash metal band.
I think it's great that he picked some of the worlds best vocalist in several genres (and he is one as well)
This is BY FAR, the best one of these I've seen... Awesome dude, awesome selection.
Who doesn't love PJ?
Thanks for adding the links to the bands covered in the notes. Great addition.
Awesome! Glad it's helpful.
What a lovely guy! Such good energy.
I love Mark and Death Angel soooo much!!! One of my all-time favorite thrash-metal bands. Saw them back in 1990 and got to meet Mark and take a picture with him back in 2010. Act III is their masterpiece.
This guy has made my day - what a sweetheart. I'd love to see what would be in Neko Case's bag :)
What an absolute sweetheart of a man. Feels like talking to a friend. And his band is fucking amazing.
Very approachable guy, talented and very down to earth. Respect to you Mark, we need more guys like you! 🤘😎
Goddamn! I agree with every pick! And Death Angel being one of the best bands of all time to boot! Thanks Mark
Mark is such a huge inspiration from my hometown. His vocals have gotten so amazing with age, like a fine wine.
The Evil Divide is awesome thrash record. The mix, songs, structure of vocals with music.. Everything is perfect.. Its time to make a new big four! Testament,Exodus,Overkill,Death Angel!
Totally agree with you Metal brother 🤘
This guy rules! Great episode.
This guy had me at " powerage"..what a feckin album..then he threw " sheer heart attack " in...instant thumbs up...
Great selection. I love metal guys who have varied taste in music.
Definitely the coolest/nicest dude you guys have done this with
If anyone isn't familiar with Death Angel... Get familiar! They rule. Check out their cover of Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell." Mark really does Dio justice!
We saw Death Angel perform in Tijuana back in 1990. Act 3 had just come out. Long story short, Death Angel was outside the club patio checking out the scene and opening bands and we got to meet them in person and were really cool toward their fans.
joey belladonna also does Dio justice on Anthrax's neon nights cover
Or Cold Gin
Yeah, agreed!
🤭I feel ashamed to say I only knew (and have on cassette) the album with the song “I’m Bored.”
About to get more into them, haven’t been able to hear that tape in many years. I’m gonna have to add a Death Angel station to my Pandora too! He’s really real, for real. 😉
✨🤘✨
I want to just hang with him and talk about our favorite records... would be time well spent!
One of the best What's in my bag I've watched. Great taste !!
great episode! Great guy! killed at Aftershock! nice to see some love goin out to the mighty Death Angel!
This is the best wimb video I've seen so far. I've been a fan of Death Angel since I discovered them back when they released Frolic. But I never knew Mark is such an awesome guy, as he seems in this video. The kind of guy you wanna be friends with, going for a few beers and talking music all night long!
Love his selections tons of classics !
Giving this a thumbs up....for some great music choices AND th fact he seems a real nice guy
Love how Mark just lives, eats and breathes music. Quite knowledgeable too.
Great episode. Nothing obscure, but really meaningful picks that tell a story.
Cool dude, I like his taste.
What a nice guy! He looks so happy with his purchases and talking about them!
Love this. This guy isn't afraid to show off his love for the classics no matter how over played and main stream it's gotten through out the years. Great music is great music, he had a lot of timeless selections. Very cool. Gonna have to check out Death Angel now just because this dude is so cool and down to earth
One of the most enjoyable “What’s in my Bag” that I’ve come across. Great taste in music .
Very cool dude! Laughs easy. Great picks man.
I seen Death Angel at the Troc in Philly for Act III tour, great show. I'm glad you still buy CD's. There's nothing wrong with them. I still have my records and CD's from mid 80s they all still play like new.
One of the BEST episodes - I own nearly all of his picks. Well done!
One of the coolest guys. I recommend seeing them at least twice.
4:33 the fact he sings the song and nails the key with it overdubbed in the video backs up the favourite song statement hard hahah! Lovely dude and awesome selection!
Man, Every single album is something I love. Amazing picks
Mark and Death Angel are fucking great. Very good taste in music too, dude - Unleashed In The East is the album that got me into metal, and it still sounds as good now as it did when it was first released back in '79.
Great video. One of the best of this series.
Marks list is beyond PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!
great taste in music !! I enjoyed this one !!
Commenters on RUclips are always saying how this band and that musician are underrated, but in the case of Mark and Death Angel it's true. Great vocalist and great band who should be way bigger than they are.
