Rosetta Stoned is Danny's absolute masterpiece, but it should be noted that it is a song in two parts. Lost Keys is its introduction and must STRICTLY be listened to before Rosetta Stoned. It is important to tell this to anyone who approaches TOOL, especially if they do it "publicly" as in this case, otherwise those who react to Rosetta Stoned publish the video and are inundated with comments telling them they have only done things halfway. Invincible is my favorite of the tracks on the new album and, in my opinion, it is an absolutely epic song both musically and lyrically. Only Maynard's voice doesn't particularly shine (but unfortunately we'll have to get used to this because it's a constant in Fear Inoculum and will probably be so in the future too). Here too the protagonist is Danny, not for the technique or the difficulty, but for the imposing presence and the sound...Apart from this however, it doesn't seem too intricate in terms of polyrhythms and I don't agree with you on this .
@@prefono I know some Tool fans can be critical and expect reactions to the music to be handled in a specific manner, but I don't endorse that approach. I am not the type of Tool fan that tries to dictate how other people should consume the music. Everyone needs space to discover Tool on their own terms, for themselves, however they may prefer. If that includes lead-in tracks, that's great. It's also okay by me if it doesn't. On Rosetta Stoned being a rhythmic achievement, we agree. Regarding Invincible, during all the "verse" sections, the drums prominently feature a 7 over 3 polyrhythm. The song also features multiple "breakdowns" where Danny, Justin, and Adam are playing three different rhythms, creating a polyrhythmic pattern between the three of them. As a drummer, I can personally attest to the rhythmic complexity involved in mastering Invincible. I am currently transcribing the drums for Invincible; subscribe if you'd like to be notified when I release a video for it, or check out my other Tool drum transcription videos. ;-) ruclips.net/user/robfrawley
@@robfrawley I'll go and see for sure as soon as I can. Great! Since you're a drummer, have you ever seen John Kew's work? I love it. What do you think about it?
@@prefono His YT videos covering Tool songs are excellent (as are his other covers). For anyone else reading this thread and trying to find him, you can check out John here: ruclips.net/user/johnkew
New sub, great review! As a child of the 70's, and a musician, TOOL is my 21st Century Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd! Looking forward to more reactions. ROCK ON & ROCK HARD!!!
2:34 this riff sounds like the chant that the genie from PeeWees play house would say. Mekka Lekka High Mekka Hiney Ho. The genie was of course named none other than Jambi 😊 hence the song title
That drop man!!!
If you enjoy polyrhythms, I'd suggest checking out Rosetta Stoned (from 10,000 Days) and Invincible (from Fear Inoculum).

The drooooooppp every damn time!
Great channel 👏
Thanks for visiting
Rosetta Stoned, Vicarious, Third Eye, and The Grudge. Listen, Learn, Love.
The Grudge is coming next week.
The "Cassandra Geminni" (I've seen it spelt that way) 32 minute suite is impressive
Yes sir! I think this is an underrated track took a while for it to grow on me but man it rocks
🤘🏻🌀

Thanks for the sub!
The bass in this song is larger than life lol
Chancellor did use fretless for Lateralus (the song)

this song is in 3/4, but the bass is in 6/4, the drums are in 3/4 and the guitar is in 9/8 for the most part. 🙃
Challener, Carvey, Bones and Peenan
To me this is the Tooliest song. Captures lots of their best stuff front to back.
You should check out THIRD EYE
Good take on the Crimson, this band is heavily influenced by King Crimson, and even toured with them.
Great song. Nice to get some insight to the effects etc. for those of us who may not be able to pick them out by ear (Wah and flange are all I know)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Is that just voice box or voice box with wahwha pedal
I noticed he has used a talk box, that would make sense since it’s such a unique Wah effect.
Do the fellas at work know your a closeted doom metal listener? 😂
Love the reaction as always keep em coming good sir
I'm card carrying Metal Head and proud of it, thank you watching.
