@@alexfixty I lowered my range rover a little after replacing air shock. I waited 10 minutes with car on.. then i lowered it slowly again. Then I waited again, then I lowered it all the way slow. I heard a soft air pop sound.. That bad?
I love working on my car and save lot of money just like this guy. It's funny that most of car repairs are very simple you can find everything on Internet how to do it and as you can see in this video can get done on car park with basic tools. But garage's will tell you that it's a big job and you need special tools 😆 they have all those special tools just to make it even easier for them 😉 get job done in 15 minutes or less and charge 3 hours or more. That's the reality
@LandRoverTech what do you think about range rover sport L494 3.0 diesel 306bhp? Are the engines really that bad as I read on Internet? I'm thinking of buying one but if it has all those engine problems common there's no point. I need some advice from someone like you that know the land rover well. Thanks
Thank you for creating this video. I removed both my struts in about half an hour thanks to your clear instructions. Although initially an intimidating replacement, it turns out to be quite a simple undertaking.
Thanks! Great to see someone that actually works on their own car! I can tell from your well used Ryobi impact! Very underrated tool. Keep up the good work!
This is an excellent video! I have replaced these on my L322, I now feel confident I can also do them on the L405. The only thing I would like to see is the torque specs for the bolts, although a quarter turn past tight AF usually works. Great job!
Great video as always. One thing I’d call out is when using impact tool to loose high torque bolts/nuts, always use the impact on the nut side. Don’t make mistake like mine broken the bolt head using the power tool.
Thank you very much! You just saved me 1K. Dealer wants $1600 (8h) in labor for the front height sensors and and Air Struts replacement. I knew it is simple, but did not know it is that simple... Somehow they say i'd need alignment too... :) . Thanks again! BTW, do you know if after replacing height sensors it needs to be programmed?
Thanks for the video Alex. The title mentions it works for L494 as well. In the engine bay, on top of my strut, I don't have an air hose and bleeder like that is shown in your video. I have the 4 mounting nuts/bolts and one central nut. This is where my leak is coming from. Where do you bleed the L494 strut? Where is the connection to the compressed air hose for the L494 strut? Thanks in advance!
Nice guide but releasing the air line to the spring like you did can damage the valve blocks. It’s recommended to use the cars computer to release the air pressure or you can slowly let out the air by loosening a nut on the valve block for the front and back.
Hi there Congrats for the great job you've done Can I ask you to make a video for replacing the rear air suspension for the same car? And thanks for advance.
Is the little black plug on the top of the strut with the red end the easiest way to determine if it has continuously variable damping? Having had a hard time looking online trying to determine a simple way to know if mine has it. 2016 HSE 3.0V6
You are awesome. Thank you! Thank you! Love your videos bro! You have motivated me to do my own instead of paying thousands. Did you do a brake flush video or recommend anything with the brake fluid dot 4 when doing brakes/rotors?
Alex, I replaced both air struts, and now they both lose all the air overnight. Before the left side would lose most of the air and the right side all of it; I followed your video, except I might have scratched the compressor coupling; what do you recommend?
Awesome vid…i have a question. I have a 2014 RRS i hear a knocking sound and it says i have a faulty air suspension but when I turn off then turn on the car it goes away but comes back on. What do you think it is? ThankQ hope to hear from you
Thanks for these great videos bro! I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2017 supercharged v8 L405 with 35,000 miles. Your videos will be super helpful!! I have a question, how do can I know if my Rover has option of the continuous variable damping?
Hi, I would like to replace the air suspension. I exchanged the genuine bwi product for an arnott product. change in ride comfort Can't you feel the change in durability?
Hi, have you resolved this issue you had? My 2015 l494 is also have the same issue, i have replaced the lower control arms like the ones he did on one of his videos but its still doing the same thing
Hi Alex, thank you for all your informative videos, if I may ask if i can charge my L405 2019 V6 supercharged battery (without disconnecting it from the car) and just by connecting a trickle charger at the jump start connectors under the hood
My range rover l405 has really stiff suspenstion even i had replaced everything , could you help me? No electric fault , all new suspention and arm bushings but it drive really bad through the bumps
Hi, my rover is lower on driver side about couple inches, still rides good no lights on whatsoever, would that be a strut replacement or what do you suggest? Thanks
Mine Did same thing. Strut is leaking. Buy both new from CAR ID, for $900 to your door. I paid 475 for labor but you can do it as easy also. Will not put code until completely junked. You might damage compressor if left unchecked due to it running extra. Arnott is the brand I used, Range is like brand new now
Author, as you seen to know a lot can you share the expected labor on a front right suspension dropping. Will I need a condenser or strut alone? I am in California. What’s the labor, parts for strut appears to be 560. Is a RR tool needed to reset and recalibrate? My car always reads the down arrow on the suspension in orange. I feel I should be able to raise it. I must be vague as I am new to rover world. Rear right is also falling. Means I need replacement as well? It has 77K miles on it.
I would recommend starting with a diagnosis to see the codes. Then inspect air lines and connection with soapy water 🤙 I didn’t have to reset anything after replacing that struts. If you didn’t mess up anything you don’t have to calibrate it.
@@alexfixty you were very helpful. I had an arrnot right strut changed and it fixed the leak. No more hissing sound from the top. Will know Ofer night if it’s truly fixed. Can you confirm if it should get an alignment after the new strut? No point changing other if it’s not gone bad as yet?
Anyway to donate to your channel? Also going to buy a used RR should I go gas or diesel. I am in NV and the diesel RR prices from CA are really dropping.
im thinking of buying a range rover sport se 3.0 diesel with 95k miles on it $38k no warranty ,,,,is this a good idea? or run for the hills ????? thanks G.P

I just changed my right front shock... followed your instructions. But I had issues... I got through it.. thank God.
Next is the motor mounts.

Thank you for making this. Saves all of us a lot of money

Great Job...all you need is the right tools and some patience. Well done.
Thanks 👍
So what was the problem? Was it leaking air out of the top?
Great video as always. One thing I’d call out is when using impact tool to loose high torque bolts/nuts, always use the impact on the nut side. Don’t make mistake like mine broken the bolt head using the power tool.
100%
Great video, but what about all the torque specifications?
Very impressive work, and clearly know what you are doing.

This was an excellent instruction. Worked well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Great job you made it look so simple. Love the video.
Thank you! 😊
Great videos on RR maintenance! I’d love you see your review of the car covering the reliability and maintenance $$
As soon as I buy new one 😂

torque wrench, torque wrench, torque wrench
Hello, can you show me where the resistor is located on the land rover sport l494 2014, thank you
How many miles did you get. Before having to replace them?
Hi there
Congrats for the great job you've done
Can I ask you to make a video for replacing the rear air suspension for the same car?
And thanks for advance.
Yes, sure, as soon as I buy another l405🥲

Nice video, any hint how to lubricate rear air strut? They make noise while adjusting height. And any hint how to replace rear air strut? Thanks
I noticed you didn’t use a torque wrench for much of the work, why is that? You just tighten as much as you can?
Superb Video. However, I was hoping for the replacement of the height sensors included in this video. Maybe you could do one soon.
Neat job! You make it look easy. How long did it actually take?
I think couple hours or so
@@alexfixtythanks
Great videos! They're very detailed and I appreciate that.

Very in depth, very clear to the point. I wish more videos were like this 👍🏼
Great video. Can you do a walk around describing your car? Mileage, research before purchasing, any issues so far etc?
Thanks! Will do soon! 🙏
your doing an awsome job .. keep up the great work videos on range rover videos ...top man
Thanks! 👍
Very Good job and easy procedure 👍thank you.
You are awesome. Thank you! Thank you! Love your videos bro! You have motivated me to do my own instead of paying thousands.
Did you do a brake flush video or recommend anything with the brake fluid dot 4 when doing brakes/rotors?
I bled mine. Real simple and can do it yourself with a brake bleeding tool. Takes 4-5 pumps and you’re good to go.
Alex, I replaced both air struts, and now they both lose all the air overnight. Before the left side would lose most of the air and the right side all of it; I followed your video, except I might have scratched the compressor coupling; what do you recommend?
Difficult to say, sorry! Use soap water to track the leak
This was an awesome video! Thank you
Thank you!
Thank you very much for the video! I am just wondering if the procedure is the same for a 2016 LWB model? Thanks again!
I just did it, and it is! 💪🏼
Great video you rock.
You do very good videos. Thanks.
Thanks Alex! any fix for the "reduced traction" light?

1 video on RangRover change High voltage battery .
Good video mate. Thanks.
✌️✌️✌️
Are there different types of struts?
If, for example want more lift, or lift rods is the only way to go?
Need torque wrench and torque spec for all the nuts.
I have a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover supercharged 5.0l V8 I’m trying to figure out if I have CVD or VDS
Compare the top and the connector
Very good work ❤😊
Thanks!
Do you have video on how to replace the height sensor?
I don’t😊
Hey LR Tech - Do you have the part # for a 2016 Range Rover L405 Rear Struts???
Thank you Alex! Another great L405 DIY video!
Thank you🙏
Hi suspension fault light comes on how can I determine what is cause it?
Read the codes 👍 amzn.to/3vpqT3E
How much it would have cost you if you went to dealer , to do a pair ?
Can these air struts make noises when going over a bump or when breaking ? It’s feels like bad shocks when breaking .. but I think it’s the air struts
Good job buddy!!
Great! I've learned lots of from your video and also following you at the RR forum.
Thanks! 🙏

Thank you! Love your videos, keep'em coming!!!! 👍😉
i love you - video saved and will watch again and again - i have range rover and i am doing it myself :3
Do you recommend replacing after a certain mileage?
When the feel bouncy or making noises
Absolutely amazing job, kudos to you! Wonder how much is that job at the dealership ;)
Liked and subscribed!
My 2016 seems to be rocking side to side cornering and on bumpy roads . Think its the shocks ? has 36 k miles .

12,15,21, wrenches 13,18,22, sockets
Thanks
What does w/ CVD mean when trying to buy a airbag an its says that
Great video. Keep helping. Thanks
How many km has this range rover driven?
Is there a quick way to know if you have CVD or not for the L405?
Did you find your answer

@@alexfixty V8 diesel? Or the V8
@@kellyfontes7757 if you are looking for diesel, v8 diesel is the best option. If you go with gas, v8 and v6 both are pretty reliable👍
