My corgi tore her ACL, and we have treated with swim therapy. Much cheaper than the TPLO surgery, she's lost weight and has streghthened accesory muscles. We're almost 2 years out and she's doing great.

Was it a full or partial tear?

I’ve got a 48-52 lbs dog who’s 12 years old. Vet recommended not doing surgery due to liver values and age. Thoughts?

Just saw this video went to the ER today spent 700$ my dog got diagnosed with partial ccl tear. Hopefully he can recover without surgery. My question is it normal for him to whimper time to time or he needs a better pain meds? Doctor got him on metrodolone right now because of high level enzyme. Said follow up with my regular vet within 7 days

If you suspect your dog is in pain it's a good idea to check in with your vet. Perhaps the dosage of the pain meds can be adjusted, or your dog needs to stay off his leg. A warm compress for 10-15 min a few times a day can help with pain management too. Good luck!

We have a petite (short and slim), but muscular pitty who just tore her ACL and meniscus. She's 45 pounds and all muscle, but she's a gentle, not very active dog. We're going to follow up with our vet in 3-4 weeks.

What ended up happening with your dog? I have an almost identical situation to your. Pitbull terrier who is almost 9 who went lame on left hind leg. She weighs close to 50 pounds. Vet said they think it’s a tore ligament but refused to tell us if it was torn all the way through or just slightly torn. They were very adamant about referring us to an orthopedic dog person. Trying to determine what the right course of action is and don’t really want to spend several thousands of dollars on something that could happen again

@@kevinsaint20 I'm sorry to hear that. We were really strict about having her rest. We have a young son and a 2 year old pit boy "puppy" who likes to play roughly. So the best solution for us was to keep her in her cage for longer than normal to force her to rest. We would give her lots of treats and bones for stimulation and to keep her morale up. We would let her out throughout the day, but we were really intentional about where she was and how she was resting. My husband religiously carried her on and off the couch. She was harnessed at all times and leashed while outside. We were told by our vet that sudden start and stop movements could be really damaging. She took expensive joint health vitamins every day. She actually had a follow up vet appointment and she was healing really nicely. She started running around again. And was kind of back to normal. But within the past 2-3 weeks she somehow reinjured it. So we are resting her again. But previously she was very healed and we were happy with the progress. I think having our young son and a playful dog is hard on her and she overdid it.
