My 6 year old lab mix had TPLO done 2 weeks ago. We were told to just do potty trips the first day or two, increasing to 5 minute supported leash walks in the yard, 3-4 times a day...increasing to 10 mins the second week, etc. She's doing well, she is limp walking in the house, with minimal pain. My problem is making her relax, but the stitches come out tonorrow and no more cone of Shame. Then we have to go to a rehab place.
my 175 lb great dane has 2 tore acl and miniscus. just had surgery tuesday on first knee. . he couldnt get up. we ordered that harness and shipped overnite.... and for you to send that home with your dogs is AMAZING. especially in the giants. i wish my surgeon had suggested this. for 2 days we struggled, his leg was so swollen and fluid i called them both days so far with pics. he is totally sedated, thank you for doing this. i learned more from you about this then i did from mine. blessings
our dog had this done six weeks ago. he is recovering beautifully, we have followed his care instructions completely. In two weeks he will get his 8 week xrays
Awesome video! My 75lb Shephard/Alaskan Malamute mix had his TPLO surgery yesterday. I pick him up this afternoon. The house is prepped and I’m probably over educating myself. But we’re ready for a long, slow, winter of recovery. Some friends have had success with stem cell therapy and others with TPLO. I went this route because I love and trust the vet and the surgeon. We have the Help Em Up harness, the Comfy Cone, and tons of treats and love ready to go!
My dog just had hers 10 days ago, she is recovering well. How is your dog doing? And how are you handling stairs? We have so many stairs and honestly that’s what’s stressing me the most.
We're on day 3 of recovery with our keeshond/german shepherd. We just took her bandage off today. I felt so bad for her. It the biggest adhesive bandage I'd ever seen. But she has been a trooper through this entire ordeal. I know I would not have been such a great patient myself.
My boy had TPLO surgery one week ago today. I wish I would have watched this video sooner because you explained everything PERFECTLY! Thank you for this information!!
I’m so glad that I came across this video My pup Ollie is having his TPLO surgery June 1st the day after Memorial Day. We are going to the orthopedic surgeon for a consultation tomorrow. Praying for a smooth recovery for my boy even though it will be a long road 🥰
My dog had her Second hindleg operated 22/12 2022. Everything has Gone well until Yesterday. She jumped over and hit her leg. Now she is more lame than The was before and after surgery. I am so Sad. We well go back to the clinic on tuesday. Its Eastern.
I went to 4 vets. one said it’s muscle strain. one says it’s the ankle. Xray confirms the ankle bone is enlarged. The vet says he needs a surgery called “Tarsal Arthroplasty”. Drawer test negative. Two other vets say it’s CCL and that TPLO surgery is recommended. They also say Xray indicates effusion and swelling in the knee. Drawer test positive. now, I’m completely confused. I don’t want my dog to have a surgery that he didn’t need, while the real issue is not fixed. Can CT or MRI help?
Is it common to see ups and downs during recovery? My 4 yr old Husky was walking the first day after and putting weight on the surgery leg for the first 8 days. (Of course he's confined, lots of meds, mostly sleeping, etc) Day 9 yesterday and day 10 today he's limping and even holding the leg up sometimes. 😕 I know it's a long road but I was just curious if anyone else saw improvement then worsening and then improvement?
Have same issue with my dog. They won’t do both at the same time (recovery, potty etc reasons). They will schedule one ☝️, let it heal and then schedule the other two one for surgery. Prayers for your pet 🙌🏼🙏🏼
Hi .. my 11 year old lab just had the surgery. It's day 3 and it's his rear right hand leg. He's started sitting in the leg with the surgery . Is that ok? He looks comfortable and I've put heavy rubber mats all over the room where he's confined. I'm wondering if its ok for his to sit down on that side. Will appreciate a reply. Thank you 🙏🏼
How is your puppy doing? Would you mind sharing your experience with the surgery? My 11 years old Labrador is scheduled to have the surgery next Wednesday. I am terrified. :( I just really want the best for him...
Dog is having this surgery, and my house has 6 steps to outside of house to garden, how can i get him out for toilet,i definitely can't lift him, panicking 😢
You recommend a crate? My dog is going to go through this surgery in a week. She is a lab mix and about 50 lbs. I am trying to prep for the healing process.
@@jrproductions1984 It's a breeze. Your pup will be Hugh as hell for about eight hours after you pick them up. Just let them sleep it off. Try to avoid stairs if at all possible. I had to carry her up and down the stairs three times a day to go outside. I am sure your dog will be fine.
Thanks for the heads up! Luckily, no major stairs. I bought ramps to place around the house for future use when healed. I'm also crossing fingers the other knee doesn't crap out. He's a dachshund/ terrier mix and can be a wild one🤣 Looking forward to getting him back to his old self. Seeing him in pain kills me.

Well, in Kentucky, that don't do all this. No therapy or physical there. I do it myself. My vet. in Richmond, Ky. will come and do a soft tissue check. It is common to have ups and downs. Just like a human after surgery. If you push it, you need a break and rest. It's ok.
