Ramp?
My dog goes in tomorrow for TPLO. Hopefully everything goes well.
Water? My baby HATES water...no go.
My dog have that surgery right now 💪🍀🍀🍀🍀❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My boy had it done 2 weeks ago. 😢
Awesome video! My 75lb Shephard/Alaskan Malamute mix had his TPLO surgery yesterday. I pick him up this afternoon. The house is prepped and I’m probably over educating myself. But we’re ready for a long, slow, winter of recovery. Some friends have had success with stem cell therapy and others with TPLO. I went this route because I love and trust the vet and the surgeon. We have the Help Em Up harness, the Comfy Cone, and tons of treats and love ready to go!
My dog just had hers 10 days ago, she is recovering well. How is your dog doing? And how are you handling stairs? We have so many stairs and honestly that’s what’s stressing me the most.
Thank you for this video!! ❤
did this dog have any feeling in its feet the first week?
I went to 4 vets. one said it’s muscle strain. one says it’s the ankle. Xray confirms the ankle bone is enlarged. The vet says he needs a surgery called “Tarsal Arthroplasty”. Drawer test negative. Two other vets say it’s CCL and that TPLO surgery is recommended. They also say Xray indicates effusion and swelling in the knee. Drawer test positive. now, I’m completely confused. I don’t want my dog to have a surgery that he didn’t need, while the real issue is not fixed. Can CT or MRI help?
My 6 year old lab mix had TPLO done 2 weeks ago. We were told to just do potty trips the first day or two, increasing to 5 minute supported leash walks in the yard, 3-4 times a day...increasing to 10 mins the second week, etc. She's doing well, she is limp walking in the house, with minimal pain. My problem is making her relax, but the stitches come out tonorrow and no more cone of Shame. Then we have to go to a rehab place.
Did the pain last a couple of days..we just brought our dog from surgery and lots of crying going on 😢😢
When did your dog start using the leg after the surgery? Mine just had a surgery 3 days ago she’s still only toe touching the affected leg sometimes but still doesn’t step on it yet.
My dog had her Second hindleg operated 22/12 2022. Everything has Gone well until Yesterday. She jumped over and hit her leg. Now she is more lame than The was before and after surgery. I am so Sad. We well go back to the clinic on tuesday. Its Eastern.
Thank you for this very informative video. As someone who is going through this it gives me some comfort to feel prepared.
Well, in Kentucky, that don't do all this. No therapy or physical there. I do it myself. My vet. in Richmond, Ky. will come and do a soft tissue check. At that point, I will keep my dog of a leash until I see his surgeon in eight weeks and go from there. I have no idea where you are from, but now I walk him around the yard on a leash to keep his muscle from atrophy.
Hi .. my 11 year old lab just had the surgery. It's day 3 and it's his rear right hand leg. He's started sitting in the leg with the surgery . Is that ok? He looks comfortable and I've put heavy rubber mats all over the room where he's confined. I'm wondering if its ok for his to sit down on that side. Will appreciate a reply. Thank you 🙏🏼
How is your puppy doing? Would you mind sharing your experience with the surgery? My 11 years old Labrador is scheduled to have the surgery next Wednesday. I am terrified. :( I just really want the best for him...
1) a big fat bill and 2) mediocre results
But what is the other option 😢
Is it common to see ups and downs during recovery? My 4 yr old Husky was walking the first day after and putting weight on the surgery leg for the first 8 days. (Of course he's confined, lots of meds, mostly sleeping, etc) Day 9 yesterday and day 10 today he's limping and even holding the leg up sometimes. 😕 I know it's a long road but I was just curious if anyone else saw improvement then worsening and then improvement?
It is common to have ups and downs. Just like a human after surgery. If you push it, you need a break and rest. It's ok.
Thank you for that video
Hi there are you a veteran From their sister
You recommend a crate? My dog is going to go through this surgery in a week. She is a lab mix and about 50 lbs. I am trying to prep for the healing process.
Yes!
@@jrproductions1984 I appreciate the response time. My girl has had her surgery and is as good as new. Running around like a puppy.
Just came across this video tonight as I'm looking up stuff since my pup is getting this surgery Tuesday 🤞 Glad to hear your pup is doing well!
@@jrproductions1984 It's a breeze. Your pup will be Hugh as hell for about eight hours after you pick them up. Just let them sleep it off. Try to avoid stairs if at all possible. I had to carry her up and down the stairs three times a day to go outside. I am sure your dog will be fine.
Thanks for the heads up! Luckily, no major stairs. I bought ramps to place around the house for future use when healed. I'm also crossing fingers the other knee doesn't crap out. He's a dachshund/ terrier mix and can be a wild one🤣 Looking forward to getting him back to his old self. Seeing him in pain kills me.

We're on day 3 of recovery with our keeshond/german shepherd. We just took her bandage off today. I felt so bad for her. It the biggest adhesive bandage I'd ever seen. But she has been a trooper through this entire ordeal. I know I would not have been such a great patient myself.
how is she doing now?
How was the recovery???
Thank you! 💖💖💖
Our 8 year old Border Collie suffered an FCE and was toward the upper middle part of his spine. He was paralyzed on 3 legs and his left eye. He had no control over bladder and deification. He was in therapy (water, massage etc) for 3 months and with little improvement. After 6 months he was stumbling like this dog after 2 weeks. Now two years later he still has weak control over his back legs and needs help urinating and dedicating, This is not a journey for the faint of heart (and you will need to spend $$$$). Blu was fortunate we had the time and money to help. I would do it again but that depends on your situation .
My boy had TPLO surgery one week ago today. I wish I would have watched this video sooner because you explained everything PERFECTLY! Thank you for this information!!
Our dog just had tplo on both knees. Today is day 2 post surgery. She was better yesterday than today. Not interested in food today and doesn’t want to walk at all. Sleeping all day.
How are things with the dog?
@@jolkraeremeark6949 she’s great! It was a slow recovery but around mid November she got her mojo back. Legs strong and her old mischievous self is back. Thank you for thinking of her.
@@jeanzellers4604 About to go through the same (2 TPLO surgeries, offset by 4 weeks) with our 7 year old GSD. Glad to hear yours is back to her old self - it's been heartbreaking to see ours in constant pain from his injuries.
@@twinklat Poor baby. It was a slow recovery for Louisa. Some of the meds made her throw up but after about three months she was her old self again. Your pup will do great.
@@twinklathi how did it go with the surgeries being 4 weeks apart?
is it true that in a couple of years the other knee could be affected?
Our dog has ruptured both back legs. She’s a retriever, so big dog. Surgeon doesn’t want to do both legs at once. Any advice?
Have same issue with my dog. They won’t do both at the same time (recovery, potty etc reasons). They will schedule one ☝️, let it heal and then schedule the other two one for surgery. Prayers for your pet 🙌🏼🙏🏼
And thank you so much for this video
Can I do stairs with help
How many times practice MADAM?
Thank you so much for this info. You’ve relieved a lot of my stress.
I’m so glad that I came across this video My pup Ollie is having his TPLO surgery June 1st the day after Memorial Day. We are going to the orthopedic surgeon for a consultation tomorrow. Praying for a smooth recovery for my boy even though it will be a long road 🥰
How did Ollie do with his TPLO?
Yes, how did the surgery go. It’s been over a year.
Omg. Thank you so much. My dog just went through the TPLO surgery.
thanks for the video. my lab goes in for tplo surgery friday
my 175 lb great dane has 2 tore acl and miniscus. just had surgery tuesday on first knee. . he couldnt get up. we ordered that harness and shipped overnite.... and for you to send that home with your dogs is AMAZING. especially in the giants. i wish my surgeon had suggested this. for 2 days we struggled, his leg was so swollen and fluid i called them both days so far with pics. he is totally sedated, thank you for doing this. i learned more from you about this then i did from mine. blessings
My puppy is having bilateral tool in 2 days and I wanna cancel and come see you guys. I’m serious!
Is it normal for your dog to have a bump on their inner knee 7 days post op?
Omg thank you for making this video! 😩 I’m already stressed and anxious about his recovery
you did an amazing job of explaining thank you
Thank you!
our dog had this done six weeks ago. he is recovering beautifully, we have followed his care instructions completely. In two weeks he will get his 8 week xrays
My dog has this now. It's been a week :( I take care of him at home but I just want him to recover.
Could you share where you got the webbed harness he is wearing on the treadmill?
Yes! It is from a company called Canine Rehab Systems.
Excellent video. Thank you for this presentation. It is very well presented.
Thank you!
