      Trottie did a video on his journey to the TaylorMade truck. You could start with that, but a series by someone about the tour truck guys would be good! I may have seen another one or two of these guys interviewed, but it's far and in-between. Have to look for them or just be lucky to catch one when it comes out. I'd definitely watch them if Rick did them.

    I love your Tour Truck series, Rick. I'm a production person. And maybe that's why I attach particular importance to tidiness, cleanliness and functional workspaces. All the previous trucks were more or less very neat and functional. I'm a little bit worried about the chaos of the Titleist truck ;-). That's something I wouldn't have associated with the brand. What a mess 😀

      We pay the high prices for “big brands” because they have to pay the pros loads of money to play their stuff. It all adds up and it’s the consumer that is stuck with the bill

    • @freddym6643
      @freddym6643 2 месяца назад +1

      Acushnet's revenue is a couple of billion dollars a year. Doubt they increase prices to cover tour truck overheads. They just want to keep the pros happy because it's valuable marketing when they win or when many pros chose their brand. Like with all companies, if you're unhappy about prices blame the directors and major shareholders, and the people writing your paychecks.

    Callaway definitely has the coolest tour truck - stocking 6-7 yr old iron sets and custom stuff from past years (rogue st pro long irons, 16 and 19 apex, old tcbs/cbs), Jerry-rigged grinds and a new and old special tour only woods, but it’s super cool to see titleist too. I’m sure they have some old stuff, but since they don’t change stuff radically year-to-year, it’s mostly 2024 in the truck other than balls. Cool to see that confidence in the new stuff and how consistent and trusty it is compared to past years. Reality is they make consistent good product, and most of their staffers have new drivers and irons in the bag soon after they come out. Says something about the brand for sure

    • @ahastar1141
      @ahastar1141 2 месяца назад

      I think the advantage titleist has is that they are only making tweaks every 2 years or so it’s really easy to get guys into the newer sets. They really only reinvented the wheel with the woods where they were falling behind

    A lot of the artistry has been removed from the game by the overwhelming amount of accurate detailed information being accumulated and analyzed.
    All of these minute technical adjustments, in the 1970s and 1980s, we did by feel.
    The Tour had a club truck but it was laughable in comparison.
    It had woodworking tools inside, which I find humorous to recall.
    I'm reminded of being around Chichi at 18yo.
    I would just stare at his hands in wonder.
    They were smallish and weathered, they looked and felt rough.
    I longed to understand how they could posess the incredible feel they would repeatedly demonstrate right in front of my skeptical eyes.
    I watched everything about Chichi.
    Like a scientist through a microscope.
    I learned every possible drop of information that he so willingly and often jokingly shared.
    He required very little provocation.
    We talked about the clubs and the balls and the golf swing.
    He preached to me the importance of knowing how to roll the ball, instead of flying the ball, which was how I learned to play.
    That was how everyone learned to play in the 1970s in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
    He was the first player I had ever known who regularly wore out the grooves on his wedges.
    We did our fair share of midnight groove tinkering, lol.
    I learned to have a great deal of respect for all of those tour guys.
    They're so much better than folks realize.
