- The depiction of Black servants in Hollywood has evolved over time. During Hollywood's golden age, we rarely got a glimpse into the inner lives of these characters, and the actors who took those roles rarely got the opportunity to play roles whose primary purpose was not to serve the white protagonist.
In this Breakdown, I take a look at the evolution of Black servitude, both in film and on television. I'll examine how these depictions progressed to reflect shifting cultural norms, and how the actors who were relegated to playing these roles grappled with the implications of furthering those often limiting stereotypes in popular media.

Geoffrey definitely took a taxi cab to win that marathon
“The Shame of a Nation”
For the record, as an animation nerd, I am always down for content about cartoons, if you ever felt like talking about Tom and Jerry, or even more recent content.
I just found your channel, so I've yet to binge your stuff, but I think I'm going to watch your video on Jazz in Children's Media next. (I'm a nerd, hehe)
Well done; thank you.
