That service in Norway on a porche, would be around 2500$, car wash, 60-80$. For the used car lot, i would say Subaru all day. Bullet proof, and amazing winter car

@@JohnnyFD well, we earn alittle more on average, so we will be fine. 200$ to 300$ pr hour is what they charge at car workshops. Depending on brand. For 75$, you can maby get your wipers changed. Maby. Probably just one of them. :-)

  • @onehappynegro

there is not any problem with your battery. you must drive every 4 days, especially below -1. up to 60% capacity loss during colder days. to charge you must drive longer +30 km maybe more depending on temperature. i have -14 at most and drive it every 3-4 days. you have a larger battery so maybe you need to drive a little longer.
a new battery has better capacity but still you will need to drive once a week, again up to 60% capacity depending on how cold it is.
your old battery is being resold for profit.

Johnny, as a fellow Cayenne owner (2005 Cayenne S 955) I can sympathize with some of the issues you are having with this model Porsche, which BTW, are not at all uncommon. IMHO, even with a brand new AGM battery (great choice BTW), you should get in the habit, whenever possible, to put the Cayenne on a trickle charger. Trust me, you'll sleep better. I use the "Battery Tender" by Deltran, it's the 4.5 AMP Battery Charger and Maintainer that is specified to use with AGM/Flooded and also Lithium (LiFeP04) batteries. Great product and highly recommended. Good luck with you Cayenne and be safe. Wish I could find a Porsche mechanic here in the states willing to work for $25 an hour! BTW, Love the channel.

You managed to start the car because you waited for a while while there was very little consumption from the instruments, such as indicator lights from the dashboard, etc. This heats up the battery and makes it more productive.

Johnny if you are keeping the Porsche to leave in an emergency, Unfortunately I don’t believe you’ll get far due to others having the same idea. If you really want something to be able to leave if/when the shit hits the fan buy an enduro dirt bike. If your unfamiliar they are just like regular dirt bikes but have turn signals a windshield & oversized gas tank and the ability to go on & off road. Idk what the dirt bike market is like in Ukraine but if you really want to be able to go that’s the only vehicle I’d bet would make it in any acceptable amount of time.

I just went through this with my car a BMW 540i V8. Big complex car like yours. My battery is in the truck. I've been through about 3 batteries so far in the 12 years I've owned the car. I am in Canada. Similar weather. I opted for AGM this time around because for the added cost you get a lot more robustness which is important in cold weather. Good job on getting everything taken care of on the car. You will be back however! Cars are machines and they wear out like anything else... enjoy! Slava Ukraine!

As for car batteries, you can buy one if you ever take a trip to say Przemyśl or Rzeszów, Poland or Nyiregyhaza, Hungary, etc, the nearest European Union cities. Or you can ask a Ukrainian friend, or a foreigner who is helping and travels these routes. Unlike generators which are in short supply (or at least expensive) all around Europe due to panic buying, car batteries beyond the border cost the regular price and are available everywhere

Found this online - AGM batteries perform much better in low temperature environments than flooded lead acid batteries do. For starters, AGM batteries typically have higher CCA ratings than a flooded lead acid battery. They also have a slower discharge rate than lead acid options, meaning they do a better job of holding a charge.

German car is a high maintenance and expensive to maintain. Jonny, even you have a new battery installed and you don't maintain your charge or drive once a week or so. The new battery will drain its energy and will go bad again in 2 to 3 years. You need to buy a car battery tender device to plug to maintain the charge. but, you live in the apartment. people might steal it. So, the only solution to maintain the charge of battery is to drive once or twice a week.

The winters are hard on car batteries especially in Kiev where the winters are very cold. A friend of mine had a car in London and always had problems because they never used the car much. If you don’t use it you will lose it. The Cayenne is a awsome car but maybe if you got good money for it maybe better to sell it.

OMG, Johnny's throwing a party !!!!! you finally bit the bullet and bought a bloody new Battery, Your old Battery is an AGM as you saw and isn't that old. ask that garage to charge it over night for you and it will be as good as new, or buy the same charging set up as the Garage has got (with an extention lead), it's not expensive. DON'T THROW THE OLD BATTERY AWAY, there is nothing wrong with it, it just needs charging overnight. And when you've charged it properly you can sell it and get some of your money back.

Bad starter motors are a common problem on these Cayennes aswell, I replaced mine a few years ago. Unfortunately Porsche engineers placed the starter motor in between the cylinder heads under the intake manifold so in order to replace the starter the intake has to come off, aswell as some fuel injector pipes but its only a few hours job. I bought a new Bosch starter and the total price was 800€ in Sweden.

Also for the used cars there I would get the cheap BMW since they don't sell that model in the US. That Volvo would give you more headaches than the Porsche for sure. The Hyundais are cheap crap we've had several of them have major engine failures that would often cost as much as buying a running driving car to repair. The main reason these cars sell is because ride share companies require a minimum year to the vehicle you can use and these are the cheapest usually. The Subaru is a good buy and that weird white hatch back in the US is sold as a Chevy Aveo and they are junk and probably worst or on par with the Hyundais.

I happy you got your car fixed, good decision.
Let a workshop install a battery breaker / switch for the ground cable so you just switch it on and off fast when you do long time parking.

You got yourself a money pit Johnny, I'd ditch it for something that is way way more reliable and much easier to fix when needed. Drove an Audi A6 and it was a nightmare to repair anything on it! Save yourself the grief and the cash!
