Dewd. You are, we are, right where we need to be. As a fellow American, fellow Bay Area Californian, I am proud to be here in Ukraine right now. You're doing the right thing.
Thank you Johnny for making these videos for us and showing us what life is like right now in Ukraine. It takes work to make these videos. They are perfect. Happy new year and stay safe out there.
Glad you like them!
I like them too.

Please say a prayer for the young Australian who was killed over Christmas fighting in Eastern Ukraine . He is a true hero and was passionate about the Ukrainian people RIP...

17:28 wow, my parents had the same book during my childhood I really liked looking at the pictures. Couldn't read at that age though :)
The guy at 19:33 is the most famous Ukrainian "TV chef", kind like a Ukrainian Gordon Ramsay
I still can't read. 😂
That famous chef is Yevhen Klopotenko. His work was important to get Borscht recognized as a Ukrainian dish. You can see him in a video from Kyiv on this channel @misha_katsurin

*I should HAVE gone home.
Great to see you two having fun!😊
“I should have gone home “ is correct English.
I guess it's American English 🤷
Just what we all need, a word monitor! Really?
I should have had gone 😹😹 just kidding. should, would, could, may ,might were my English class nightmare 😁
I've never encountered this mistake before. (from Canada) If JFD's parents speak Mandarin, they probably got participles and tenses wrong all the time and just rolled with it.
English, a wonderful language. But every language is wonderful. Where is home?
Seemed like a good day in Ukraine.
Thank you for sharing.

Your feeding Brandon 1 of the top Donbas taxi drivers, well done. Enjoy.plus the playstation good on ye both, fantastic to see you with great friends all you'll need next is Starskey and Nika.
Hey man. Really appreciate what you do for Ukraine. Everyone can see how much love you have for the country.
Agree. Ignore the stupid negative comments. A minority of idiots with no heart or civility. Most of us here love you and your big heart.
Buy a 12V or 24V DC to 220v AC inverter and some 12v batteries (or 24v) and a powerfull battery charger and you can have power to run a TV and a laptop 12 to 24 hours or more depending on how large battery you have. I myself use a small cheep 150w inverter just to power my TV and charge my laptop when there is a power outage and I have a 95Ah 12v battery that is allways fully charged in case the power goes out (happens usually in winter storms...). That 95Ah battery is enough to run my 55" TV for 12 to 24 hours (24 hour if you drain the battery completely but that is bad for normal lead batteries).
I have sent a 1100w generator to a friend in Ukraine but I also sent a small cheep 12v DC to 220v AC inverter, it is perfect to power small stuff like TV and charge a laptop and similar that do not use much power but need 220v.
I don't need to watch my 55" TV during blackouts...

Thank you Johnny for those and all your vids from Ukraine, brings home to us the day to day life amidst such terrible times there.Wishing Brandon and you a happy and safe 2023.
Hey Johnny, you can get what they call a Smart DNS Service which will allow you to get an IP address from another country. While it achieves the same result as a VPN, it is not a VPN and therefore cannot be blocked by sites looking for traffic coming via a VPN Server. Also, enjoy your videos and keep up the good work. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Johnny you can buy a heating element that you can put on top of your gas burner to heat your kitchen & dining room maybe on ebay also keep your perishable outside your cold balcony if your refrigerator is out too.
Love the book! I would put the stamps in a picture frame to remember your post office visit. Thanks!
Oh, it's not a long line yet. In Lviv, I came to the central branch two days in a row, and stood in line for 6 hours each day for the "russian warship" stamp. And never managed to buy it, so many people wanted it.
I got a second edition stamp and thought I could give it to someone but I can't. It's now my precious.
Read: www.johnnyfd.com/2022/10/ukraine-faq-donbas-2014-2022-russian-war.html
@@JohnnyFD Totally true! Thanks you for sharing, I really respect your strong position!
I honestly don't know how this relates to my post about queues for Ukrposhta stamps. These stamps are in great demand among Ukrainians, and not only because of patriotism, but also because of the support to the goverment institutions, i.e. Ukrposhta. And it is also an investment in the Ukrainian future.
In addition to soldiers at the frontline and volunteers, there are many people whose work is slightly less visible, but also the very important. These are civil infrastructure workers - people who provide heat, water and electricity, waste disposal, constructions, road repairs, communication and mail, etc. They have their front too, and they also sometimes die, unfortunately. Honor and glory to all ukrainian defenders! On all of the fronts - military and civilian! We have ALREADY won this war. All that remains - is to expel all of the russian occupiers from the entire Ukrainian territory.
Are those people mad? Why do they make a fuss about stamps, fetishize them? Селюковщина-рогульщина
Are all these people that come to visit your apartment really your friends. You need a girl friend to turn the unit into a real home. These visitors are not giving you anything
The Ukrainian Post Offices are so ornate, lovely
it'll make pretty rubble
I know you were waiting for a long time but take it easy and be more understanding with the post office workers. Obviously the way of living/standard of life in your home country, the usa, is different to Ukraine, but it's a good idea to respects the norms of another country. I also noticed you want to stand up yourself because you were fed up of waiting but they were under pressure in serving such a large volume of people - customer service is intense most times. Have a great 2023 !!
It’s crucial to remain calm and personally would have not complained.. not when people are being BOMBED multiple times every day… we have no idea how they are even living let alone working . We have no idea if they have lost family members it’s a time for humility and patience, not entitlement. In addition it was nothing life threatening… I know he is trying to do some good stuff but it comes out like sounding very privileged
Delicious video Johnny!. Always an honor to see Brandon!. A slight twist at the PO, however, 2023 will a better year for Ukraine!.
The curry was good!
Hi Johnny hope your having a happy holidays. I was wondering why the lights were on in the mall but not the grocery store? Your cookbook reminds me of my Betty Crocker book I use from the 40s from my mom.
Lol that central post office looks similar but nicer than what we have here but the organization is the same, very east euro, could have been Romania, it was funny for me to see. I bought some stamps from the ukr post site in October, they ship it internationally, took a month but they got here, I was actually pretty impressed. My great grandpa was a big stamp collector, I still have his many stamps, you have to be very careful with them and not touch them with your fingers cause it decreases the value.
Johnny, Have you considered getting an Xbox console? With EA Games monthly or yearly subscription (about $20/year) you can then just play any game you want from their games library like UFC3, FIFA 22 etc.
Playstation > Xbox.
Nice to see you guys getting a chance to relax and play some games
I'm in the exact same position when it comes to games consoles. The last time I was able to really dive into that world was with a PS3. When I had the time. If I'm going to buy another one I'm gonna get a PS4 before I skip a generation and get the PS5.
I skipped ps4 and went straight to ps5 lol. I rarely play my ps5😅
@@GCHUSTLEHAWAII And can you even compete with these little gamers online at this point? I genuinely miss spending hours lost in GTA and other games. Being an adult is a terrible affliction.
That's why I don't play online, campaign mode is where it's at. =)
@@JohnnyFD lol. True. Online gaming was fun 10 years ago but I couldn't even compete then. I'd be absolutely lost at this stage!

My mother had an old Bety Crocker cookbook she would pull out during the holidays. The pictures in the book reminded me of the artwork in my mother's book.

Shouldn't it read 'I should have gone home'? Great video as always though Johnny.
PS Super Mario kart is literally one of the best racing games ever. Brilliant.

Well, I think it’s good that you got to experience what daily life is like for those people as miserable as it may be.

It’s not the artist. It’s the head of the Ukrainian Post „Ukrposhta“
hey johnny thanks for showing us ukraine_tbic channel! i’ve been addicted to it since you first had him on. the guy does some fantastic work!

Underbart trevligt att som svensk se en svensk. Snus är för många svenskar, som mig, en livsviktig vardagslyx! Tack! Länge leve Ukraina! Thank you!
You read the name of the book so wrong 😅😅
Thanks God, you have air conditioner. If temperature is above -5 C you can use it for heating. It is only 800 Watt in heating mode. it is less then oil or infrared heater and blows warm air all over the room very fast
In year 2000 the Kiev train ticket lines where an 80 minute wait. If the ticket agent decided to pull the window shade down; then it was another 30 minutes wait, until the agent returned from break.
Ps5 are now 399$ and 499$ no more reselling here in USA. You can buy up to four now also up from one per household. Dmz 2.0 play it, it’s fun
Thank you Johnny for posting your life, big and small. Love from Arizona
Oh! And the food looked great!! Good job!
Brandon keeps showing up everywhere always a pleasure to see that dude
I agree.
Respect for keeping spirits up in Ukraine. Stay strong.
You can buy a battery pack that will run your TV, your game console and possibly a light or two, they aren't that cheap but should be worth the investment.
Hey! Johnny I love to se Brandon love your vedio keep more vedios coming please.
Regarding the title: "I should HAD gone home"
Attention students of the English language (and you t oo Johnny):
"Had is the past tense of have and has, however, we don't use 'should has' even for 'she'. For example, she would have... (NOT she would has). Thus, always use 'should have'."
14:16 they ask you if you would like the one with the discount or an ordinary one :)
Oh thanks for the translation!
They should get mechanical scales and calculators, like some old stores here in the states still use. Course we still use cash a lot.
Aldi in Huntsville uses mechanical scales.
The title is grammatically wrong. It should have been "I should have gone home " This is grammatically correct English. Please correct.
Even myself being a French native speaker living in London, UK don't make such mistakes.
It’s definitely not an American English thing either because I’m an American and would never say or write what he did…
@@Sniperboy5551 It is just very poor grammar skills that are very lacking for a native speaker.
What a great antique cook book you got. I myself collect cookbooks. Those are the real deal original recipes. The curry you made looks good. You make a great chef. Good to see that Brandon was able to spend some time being able to play with your new game set. Would love to see him in the boxing ring.
Hello Johnny stay warm. I am working out at the gym. It’s fine relax. I hope u feel better. 😊😊😊😮😮👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Check out Anbernic RG353V or others in their collection. It’s a gaming system that comes pre loaded with over 4000 games from all the systems up to PS1… you can get it for under 100 dollars. Very portable for on the go AND it has HDMI out. The portable gaming market in 2022 will amaze you how much progress has been made. Or RB353P if you prefer horizontal orientation, but the device has the same specs as the V version. Great video!
Thanks, i'm checking it out. Also the Retroid pocket 3+
@@JohnnyFD Yeah that’s the other one that seems good. Anbernic 505 seems a bit better but who knows. At the moment they’re releasing new ones literally every month or two. For me as long as it plays up to ps1 or 2 and the buttons, screen and battery is decent then I can stop there. PS Vita is also surprisingly still great for its age and now price which can play all ps1 and psp games AND still be used to older systems to emulate, but that’s another rabbit hole haha. RG353M or P might be good enough though.
Johny, did you consider Steam Deck as console? It's like nintendo switch but more powerfull and game you bought will work on computer also :)
What a lads,
Stay safe both of you
Isn't that book the one Johnny told his Christmas party guests that he found in the trash outside his apartment?
Same!
😂
It’s not worth getting a ps5 until the price comes down in a couple of years there’s only a few games out for it and also they still make the latest games for the ps4
norway here! 🤣 det var morsomt når han uttalte det bakpå sjokoladeplaten!
22:05 if you got a smaller, more efficient screen you could easily run the SNES and the screen from some sort of rechargeable battery pack.
Yes, but I don't need to play SNES in the dark that badly. =)
Bruh you should have went home like months ago
Does FD stand for fire department?
It stands for Fighting and Diving. He explained it a few videos ago.
Haha😂 nice one Joshua
Or you should have prepared. You did legit nothing to prepare yourself or your home. Didn’t stock up on anything. With your money you make. Could have gotten several external batteries/power banks to power your entire home. Though not ur fault overall. You alone failed yourself by being somewhat ignorant to what was coming. Again. Your own fault homie
Wow I bet that’s made Johnny feel really good 🙄🙄🙄
External batteries and generators are better used elsewhere in Ukraine right now, and not powering my home and TV. ;)
Ah yes, Chef... from T.V., enjoying your travels ....Ahhh, look at that book, I'm seventy, and I remember those pages from my Mothers recipe books, De Ja Vue ...
Frame them. They will become valuable over time as they are probably a limited edition stamp.
Snus!?!? I like it! anyway, that curry (in Sweden Curry is a spice mix sort of and I guess in UK it's a Indian/asian "casserole"/stew?) looked pretty OK!
Anyway you can not go wrong with the snus! best thing ever invented!
And the color printers in the 50's was fun! :-) anyway stay safe! and try to get some survival stuff Johnny (sleeping bag, water filtration, gas cooker (camping) (or something that could warm cans with food)...
Be prepared for 2-3 weeks of electricity outage... you will never know how Putin minds work... he might putout the electricity completely... so please be prepared!!!
I knew about *snus* because of BBC 4 showing Scandi Noir on it's channel. All the Nordics including Iceland. Love a good Scandi Noir. UK
Kan inte göra annat än hålla med! Addictive like hell though, haha, tried to quit for 20 years...guess I'm lacking the will or/and bad character.
You selected a very busy time in the Kiev main post office. There were only 2 people waiting for my line at that main post office 6 years ago. Perhaps wait time for you would be less on a different day at a different hour. Me guessing you selected the peak time for congestion.
I have similar horror stories from post offices large and small here in NYC. It’s always a shitshow. I don’t know about post offices elsewhere in the world, but huge lines, confusion, and bad service seems to be endemic to all of them, no matter where you are!
Edit: wait, I thought in your last video you told your friend that you found that Soviet book in the trash and you would burn it with her! 😂 🔥 🇷🇺 🔥
Why would anyone get a legal resident permit to live in a country in the middle of a war that doesn’t have electricity? Definitely not the best decision.

Hi Johnny another great video!! You should travel to odessa and explore there now, everyone would love it
13:17 they are saying you wont be able to scan it so you will bring it back
so much cream in that curry
Love that post office. It's a wait , but I'd go there and after that have some Sushiya or Khachapuri and Wine and then a Guinness at Copper Pub across the street. Love and miss киев. Also, Johnny please make a video featuring coffee shop called Brewtiful on Liuteranska 6a. I want to make sure they are all ok. Great bar/coffee/bakery.
Johnny you need to buy an Eco flow battery and a solar panel. You can run a few things with that!!
There are electric generators that store energy when plug in and when power is out can give you several hours of TV/computer/game console time. Why don't you get one from ebay.
Because I don't need to watch TV/Play Games when the electricity is out...those generators are better used elsewhere.
Johnny makes a video about his cooking talent and a lion drops in! Wow!
That book is a Soviet classic. I have two of them.
Your attempt to read the title is hilarious. But you've missed a quote from Comrade Stalin on the first page.
Awsome sauce ! A Ukrainian old cookbook sweet baby Jesus!😉y'all b cracken me up 💕Stay safe and warm 🥰😉💕😘
Good luck and stay safe over there.
how many people at the post office! It must be related to the New Year, because there are usually not many people. Why didn't you buy products in Fora? It is next to the place where you ate noodles. They have a generator and light 24/7
Johnny, just use Nova Poshta instead of Ukrposhta whenever possible, it will make related things so much easier. And faster.
22 minutes for this dude to unbox a 20 dollar bootleg nintendo game station.
Lol😂
@Dan Lee Thats cool but you're from Ohio.
Johnny loving the chocolates from Norway, that is a great way to break the war locked spirit. Have some sweet lovely chocolate. Johnny you should do a promo on those big power bank batteries for the home. You could play Mario Kart or whatever you want when the power is out.
you should have a portable solar station and always have some power.
Interesting trip to the market. What is up with the vegetables, that you cannot buy them?
You have to individually weigh and print prices for each item, but the UX to do so it terrible.
