I do wish they killed off characters more often tbh. Jiraiya and Neji are pretty much it, and let's be real, nobody cared about Neji dying.
Kakashi being able to have that closer with his father has always been a legendary scene to me. I just wish fillers in this series were actually about important events or people. White fangs backstory, Indra & Ashura storyline, more Madara and Hashirama things etc. things that actually have canon backing to them. Not pointless nonsense like a talking ostrich and stuff like that

The worse part of his death was when Naruto asks Tsunade why can't he sense Kakashi and she doesn't respond. 🥺
I'm still not sure how Naruto would be able to recognize Kakashi at all by sensing him. Naruto had never sensed his chakra when he gained Sage Mode, or any time prior to this moment.
EDIT: Another responder made a good analogy. A blind man who finally gets his sight, wouldn't know what his friends look like when he sees them for the first time.

The weirdest thing to me was that we always saw Sakumo's character design change. Some scenes he's young and others he's old. I always felt that the old man version was the White Fang after his fall from grace and he stopped training and fell into a depression.

This was such a masterful use of a “death.” The death of Jiraiya made Kakashi’s “death” very believable for everyone and it was therefore genuinely heartbreaking, which makes his revival also very unexpected. His brief death also managed to give us so much information about the past (Minato, Obito, Rin, and his father) and really begins to connect it with the future before the Fourth Great Ninja War began.
Personally I disagree. To me it felt out of place and just kinda thrown in there. Sure the information about his past was great and the little chat he had with his dad but other than that it never felt real and his revival felt inevitable.
lol no it was cheap as hell. Character coming back to life is literally an anime trope. Naruto fans need to watch more anime to know why Naruto isnt highly rated among non-casual audiences

I was quite heavily spoiled when i first watched naruto, but i definitely see how people got shook with Kakashi's death, it's quite grim and sad, and unexpected

This death shook me the hardest in Shippuden, because it really did come out of nowhere. Especially since everyone thought Team 7 was protected by plot armor.

I think the part that made it felt so real is that he died protecting a tertiary character not one of the main ones in a split second decision that showed tremendous humility which created a fantastic cliffhanger that felt down to earth and real. Many times in history the gifted and talented pay the ultimate price to let the new generation thrive.
That's something I vaguely remember thinking was interesting about the Pein arc: it gave characters we usually don't see a chance to interact with the 'main' characters.
I love how pain literally doesn’t want to take any chances going near Kakashi still, acknowledges how dangerous he is

Headcannon for Kakashi becoming so much stronger after this in the War arc. Is because he had so many mental barriers holding him back as it relates to his father with his suicide and the guilt that came with it. And the barriers being lifted from his chat w his dad amplified his strength tremendously.

Kakashi is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, character in Naruto.
In terms of writing be falls short of Sasuke, who is a masterpiece. That's about it really. Kakashi is a GOAT.
Cycle of hatred portrayal via Sasuke is unmatched, on top of that yes a complex character with different unique dynamics.
Honestly anyone can be the best character because its all about opinion, my favorite character is obito but I agree that sasuke was better developed. If mishi thinks that kakashi was the best character then thats cool to.

Yes...his soul was so hurt buy guilt and I have to say loosing his sharingan was symbolic of him loosing his regrets and guilt of not keeping his promise to Obito.
Was never convinced that this was how Kakashi was going to meet his end when I first read the chapter. Always felt that Kishimoto had big plans for him by the end of the series.

That ending where he finally saw his dad again was sad as hell, literally everyone I watched the episode with cried when we first saw it.
I wish we got to know more about Kakashi’s dad though.

Think about it. Kakashi saw Obito in the afterlife despite him being alive. That must mean that this farewell was in only in his head instead of an afterlife where he really meets them again. Wich makes just him and his memory as he passes away.
