Makes sense. In terms of physical strength on a functional strength level, Naruto was superior to Sasuke. That’s probably why his Taijutsu attempts where much less style based and more power based.

Him choosing to do that also means Naruto can't put his hands together long enough to use kage bunshin, which is the only way to beat Sasuke's sharingan in close quarters taijutsu
Sasuke's battle techniques and battle IQ are insane. He was keeping Naruto from using shadow clones and that was also visible when he threw the kunai.

Does anyone see how tactically brilliant Sasuke fought against Naruto? He kept closing the distance because he has the advantage in close combat due to the Sharingan. He focused on stopping Naruto from making Shadow clones which is the only way Naruto can counter the sharingan.
When Naruto changed modes he switched to long range combat due to Naruto's stat boosts and tries only close range attacks if they are safe for him
He changed mode because Sasuke utilized his rinnegan first. Naruto was really fighting fair and holding back at the same time. Sasuke must lucky to have a friend like Naruto or else..

I love when people try to make Naruto look like he's not trying just because he's not using Sage/KCM/SOSP modes, as if base Naruto didn't have amped stamina/strength/chakra, not to mention the number advantage which clearly helps to overwhelm the enemy.

I’m just now noticing in this fight that Naruto is trying to use his hand signs to do a clone Jutsu but Sasuke is canceling him out every time, that’s really good attention to detail

He held back on the chakra output of his attacks.
Proof : naruto never tried to actually killed sasuke and still had the exact same power.

@Down 4 That's a stupid point because it makes no sense to say that when Naruto had him pinned down with a tailed beast bomb to the face and then didn't release the attack. Sasuke also had to get all of the tailed beasts chakra to only cancel out the nature energy that Naruto charged *by himself* with only half of Kurama.
As strong as Sasuke is here, even he knows not to throw hands with sage mode Naruto. Really shows how well Sasuke matured, since in past fights he would overestimate himself and not always fight to his strengths.
This Sasuke can only be beaten with counters or overwhelming power since he no longer makes mistakes. He actually made the perfect move every step of the fight, he just got countered.

Sasuke is specialized in piercing his enemy and assasination but Naruto has crazy regeneration and defense.

No words spoken, no fancy dialogue. But it's subtlety speaks volumes.
Sasuke interrupting Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu early on in the fight and Naruto knowing that Sasuke was going to pull him and impale him with Enton. All this tells us that these two have such a strong bond that they can have a whole conversation without a single word spoken.
The Studio that animated this fight really out did themselves.

I think the best thing about this first part of their fight is that neither of them is talking. It's just like what Naruto said, they communicate using their fists.
The silence between them was great also love that sasuke was dead set making sure naruto didn’t weave any signs!

Everything else has really just been ninjutsu based battles(if you are talking about the first series only then my bad, ignore what I just said😅)

Hand-to-hand combat takes so much time and effort to animate so I am so glad they added classic fighting in their final battle (a throw back to how Naruto originally aired before all the Ki blasts in Shippuden).
I love how there's no music, the fighting and the silence is the soundtrack and the simple waterfall running in the background. There's something tranquil about it, this is what art is about, attention to detail.
This fight is something else. Emotions, frames, precision, sound effects. Look at how Sasuke prevented Naruto from using Kage Bunshin like 4-5 times. And look how when Naruto finally did, he was able to get at least close to Sasuke's level of taijutsu (because the clones are annoying).

I love how they start off with showing their skill rather than power... showing how much they grew...
Sasuke was winning because of his sharingan in the taijutsu fight, but Naruto held his own well. Then they slowly started to introduce their jutsu in the fight, showing off their mastery of their techniques...
And this is before they show off their actual god level power...
This makes for a good show and good anime moment but buy does it make 0 sense from a strategic standpoint. Why waste stamina trying to land kicks and punches when you know your opponent can casually tank explosions the size of mountains? Imagine in a real life war you're a soldier facing an armored tank and you first punch it a bit before you use your anti-tank ammo.

The way this fight is so emotional without dialogue OR soundtrack just proves how amazing it is

The flashing back and forth between them as kids then to the current setting worked really well. In this fight and the Kakashi/Obito fight. Masterpieces

Nobody ever mentions the amount of time naruto spends fighting sasuke in just his base here. Sasuke has the 6 tomoe rinnegan and his sharingan active and naruto keeps up with him and manages to spin throw him into the cliffside

Watching this video again out of nowhere sent me back to September 2016!!! I was just as much freaking out seeing Naruto and Sasuke clash with no music, just the sound of the waterfall and their movements! The way Sasuke's eyes, especially his Rinnegan opened wide during the first clash was Sooo intimidating!!! He is Soo COLD and Badass!!!!
