Yeah Kris Whelan, what a beautiful day though. I was eight years old and now that I am in my forties, I truly realise the significance of that wonderful day. There are some things that money can't buy, for everything else, there's the philosophical and faithful.

I lived in Baldoyle at the time and went over to the sea wall to watch the 747, escorted by the four Air Corps Fouga Magisters, make their approach to Runway 24.
The airport has changed a lot since that time and, of course, the Aer Lingus 747s have long since been disposed of and scrapped.
